Away from pubic scrutiny

Appointing a manager is always a stressful time. Being left to get on with business away from scrutiny is rare, so it is ideal when all scrutiny falls on one particular candidate, leaving you free to meet and discuss plans with others.

You can be absolutely sure Celtic are speaking to more than one candidate, no decisions have been made and the ball is still in play. Meetings that are in the public domain are nothing more than that, many more have not made it into the newspapers.

  1. Talk of it being Wednesday eve is just noise.

Ps CQN add telling me to join the military.

  2. Much the same as yesterday from yiu, Paul.

Of course wre speaking to others, I’d like to think we’ve learned from Howe.

Rodgers is clearly the top target. Unless you’re still maintaining that our executive fly out to meet up with all the candidates in their homes ?

  3. Lol….Paul, you’re saying that as if the majority don’t won’t that particular candidate….again there is a small minority who would like to go a far more risky route but as far as I can make out there is one candidate who sticks out …

  4. quadrophenian on

Surely, Paul, a pre-emptive move to manage our entitled expectations as in…’if Brendan backs out for any reason, we had other equally appealing candidates we wiz speaking with…’ Fair do’s – strategic bluffery.

For a minute, forget fan needs – what about our players…BR would surely have the gravitas (ex-Pool, Chelski and LCFC) to impress any one of them and get instant buy-in to what he wanted done.

And let’s remember, this is a risk for BR; if he #fuxitup he can kiss goodbye to another EPL job anytime soon.

Brendan all day for me. Knows his stuff.

Unless Paul knows something we don’t.

Had zero positive to say about Brendan coming back in when everything else is pointing to him coming back.

    Peter doesn’t want him back?

  6. kevinlasvegas on

Find out something today. Clocks ticking already. Player in by the looks, at least the scouting dept are still at it.

Didnt P67 allude to a story when BR left initially that would make it near impossible to get behind him again?

Said he’d typed it up to post a couple of days ago but deleted it?

If he is DD’s preferred candidate it doesnt look like its unanimous, but of the names mentioned he is the standout choice, notwithstanding what happened before.

    (8) Any overseas player purchased by Sevco FC under the age of 25 years is a ‘wonder kid’.

    (9) Any overseas player purchased by Celtic FC under the age of 21 years is an ‘unknown youngster’.

Surely PL running the club off a cliff 2 yrs ago would make his opinion irrelevant Siempre?

If DD wants Rodgers everyones elses opinion is irrelevant tbh

  12. I have asked this before and will do so now again. How many of those who contribute anti-Peter Lawwell views on here have actually spoken to him? If we knew that we would be in a better position to know what value to put on their views..

  13. P67

If Rodgers does get the post then your ‘Welcome to Celtic Brendan’ blog will be an interesting read, as will Lawwell’s ‘the chairman welcomes Brendan’ statement.

Through gritted teeth comes to mind.

  14. So lots of girls at the dance. We’re publicly throwing our efforts at 1 big named profile (a la Howe) but in the wings come the ‘I know I wasn’t your first choice a l’Ange’ profile.

Contingency planning based on egg on the face last time. If BR blows us out we might just say he wasn’t the first choice.

Not overly sure the plan B bench named out loud comes close to Rodgers…but I am rather bored of the panto and would like the favoured candidate to get off the pot.

Is it being suggested that some sort of 5 way agreement among the directors will be required in order to bring in Brendan Rodgers?

Will P.L. ever get round to looking at it?

Who would win in a fight between a red herring and basking sturgeon?

    Wee Nicola in a basque!?

Help! Can’t get that image out of my head now.;-)))))

  17. Fabrizio Romano:

Brendan Rodgers, here we go! Agreement in place with Glasgow Celtic. It’s done deal.

Rodgers will sign four year deal valid until June 2027 agreed

Expended in Glasgow end of week for unveiling
