Away from pubic scrutiny

272

Appointing a manager is always a stressful time. Being left to get on with business away from scrutiny is rare, so it is ideal when all scrutiny falls on one particular candidate, leaving you free to meet and discuss plans with others.

You can be absolutely sure Celtic are speaking to more than one candidate, no decisions have been made and the ball is still in play. Meetings that are in the public domain are nothing more than that, many more have not made it into the newspapers.

Varkas- 4m+ lost as he is freed

    Not exactly so Gp.

The club would lose some money but not the 4½m you say.

Each contract would be depreciated over length of time of contract

    Very roughly

So at start 4½ years contract £4.5m say @25%

End of year1 contract depn 1.125m

End of year1 contract value 3.375m

End of year2 contract depn 1.125

End of year 2 contract value 2.250m

End of year 3 contract depn 1.125m

End of year 3 contract value 1.125m

End of year 4 contract depn 1.125m

End of year 4 contract value 0

So Barkas goes after 3 years of his contract on my very rough calculation

-We know he is not coming back

-we know Varkas wants to play

-we know both parties want a settled deal

-we know Barkas had a % of his year 2&3 value paid by his loaned club(so a saving there)

Best for both parties.both move on

But £4.5m it is not Gp nowhere near it

Re the young Norwegian 20 y.o

He has not signed for Celtic

So who is/is not signing him is not a live question

(Ps it happening all we have are media suggestion,it may or may not happen Gp at mo I am neutral Celtic have said nothing.)

As you’ll have noted Celtic are squirrel central at moment.who is manager? Cqn Lazy,Not Journalism.

Cellic bloggerati say Brendan some Cellic bloggerati say no,Some say Maresca and some say the young lad behind the counter in my local Asian grocers :-)) all forwarded by press

It does make you wonder why McGoon says,This or that are signing. You are already at stage2 you believe he is signed, told by press, now your asking who signed him.i am sure if it gets validated by the club then is time to ask.

    Hope your good. HH

And do excuse the rough calc explaining depn

It’s v boring and takes me back, bit like getting offered a pint of sand when yir dieing of thirst.

  4. What is the Starz on

Christy Dignam just lost his battle with cancer aged 63.

Christy was lead singer/songwriter with Dublin band Aslan..

Aslan were big over here but never made the breakthrough internationally that their talent deserved.

Working class lads from Dublin…and Big Celtic fans.

    Rest in peace Christy

  5. WITS

Very sad , RIP Christy – some chanter

I think their timing was unlucky, should have broken the UK in the mid 80s but split. Once they got rolling in the 90s, Britpop had taken over.

  6. Christy Dignam absolute Legend and as you say loved the Celtic.

We will not see his like again for me he is up there with the great Luke Kelly.

    God Bless them both.

  7. What is the Starz on

Christy battled with heroin addiction in his early life..Played a part in their record deal with EMI falling through..

You’ll remember when you were pointed and laughed at posting Record and sun

Check your Celtic Star for yatoas translation

    Wouldn’t trust it.

  9. HOT SMOKED @ 5:57 PM,

Quite is used differently in English.

In American English quite means 100% or completely…

Always worth remembering when dealing with Americans.

Good evening all from the Star Bar. Mrs BRRB refused to enter the premises. “There are some drunks in there nearly as bad as you”. First compliment she’s given me for years.

Christy has done a lot of duets on TV as well and was comfortable singing live and unaccompanied. He was on a debating show a few years ago , a bit like ‘after dark’ and I realised how smart he was too

Ps Gibneys , Malahide on that Youtube, probably in there before Depeche Mode at Malahide castle tomorrow.

First time i was in there was 98 and glued to the tv ticker. We drew at Dunfermline but huns got beat late by Killie. That season was a tough watch!

And in walks the typical numbskull hun. “Stevie G chased Rodgers out of town”. My reply was he won every trophy he could til he left. Daft canute finished his drink and fecked off. Dearie me (courtesy St Stivs).

  13. Daizen meada will need to learn how to trap and pass a ball before he reaches a higher level ffs

I was furious like many others when he departed. Today I am even more excited for his return than I was on his first appointment. I believe the brodge will be a great successor to ange. Time is now for Brendan to prove his credentials on the European stage.

The sevvies will be vomiting in to their blue bag full of bragging rights

  17. Paul The Spark on

I don’t really get people complaining about us signing the Norwegian player without a manager in place. If I remember correctly we signed Dembele before Rodger’s came in. It also shows that we have a functioning club and business goes on.

  18. Now days folk just think clubs need a director of football, so no director of footbal equals old and outdated.

I don’t actually see it like that, I prefer a head of first team recruitment and scouting etc. I don’t need celtic to be paying 500k a year to have some guy organising the football department.

  19. Bring in a expert consultant to help you develop and evolve ýour working plan every few years I needed.

  20. From fella with very decent inside track on KDS…

“All done bar the signature. I said Friday and I still think that’s where we are. Todays developments were pretty important for how we are to move forward as a club. A lot of which was discussed prior to Ange leaving.

Detailed plans over modernising aspects of the club agreed upon and committed to including a long term strategy for the youth setup, medical/sports science department and scouting. A strong transfer budget and the key for Rodgers was the ability to push the boat out on certain transfers that he wanted (Castagne an example of not doing so in his previous stint). Linked to the transfer budget was a complete mindset change regards to Europe. BR demanding strong willingness for the club to view Europe as the metric to be measured rather than viewed as a bonus and ‘happy to here’ mentality. Agreement also on the identification/scouting of players and the structure in doing so. I believe that BR will now make moves to build a backroom team of his own choosing and that he is currently speaking to individuals including JK who has a choice to make between us and Spurs. This will be reported back to the club in the coming days.”
