Balde, Hooper, summer challenges

1119

13 June and Celtic have signed a striker!  Do we have some important games coming up early in the season?  6’4” Amido Balde joined Sporting Lisbon three years ago but never made an appearance for the club.

After three loan deals he joined Vitoria Guimaraes a year ago, where he caught the eye of Celtic scouts.  At 22-years-old, he is right in the sweet spot of Celtic’s recruitment strategy: fully developed physically, old enough to be considered prime first team material but with many years of prime football ahead.

Playing for Celtic is quite different than playing for Vitoria Guimaraes, so it may take Amido a period of adjustment to settle into life as a Glasgow sporting celebrity, but he is clearly the man Neil Lennon and the scouts wanted.  Based on that, I’m happy.

Despite what could be described as cover, and the fact that the player has declined a new contract, I’m still not happy to sell Gary Hooper.  We have lots to do this summer before that moves up the agenda.

Welcome to Celtic, Amido.

The raffle for a signed Celtic top in aid of 1254125 ends early tomorrow morning. THIS IS THE LAST CALL FOR TICKETS, which cost only £1 each. Get in there…..

the truth survived and was passed on by word of mouth, they attacked the builders and like the cathedral, parishioner’s turned up to defend their right to worship. Today’s meeja are only using long established tactics when it comes to suppression of the facts.

Attacking children’s processions between St Peters School and St Peters Church was an annual event until the late 60’s, we shall not be moved.

thoughts and prayers with you and yours today.

Your post got me thinking again about just how much of an influence my uncles Neilly and John had on my celtic way of thinking.

I took it for granted when they were with us but as the years go on my appreciation and gratitude to both grows by the day.

On my first visit to parkhead my Da wanted to leave early as we were winning easily, my uncle Neilly didnt miss him and hit the wall, “thats some example to set the Bhoy,we are here to support the team that means for 90min”.

I can honestly say whenever I get to a game i dont think I have ever left early(I know some people have reasons).

When I gave up my seasonn ticket for stupid reasons, I cant afford one now, my old uncle John just saidas he was nearing the end of his life ” If my legs could carry me and I could afford it I would love to be able to go to Parhhead every opportunity I had”.

I phoned my uncle John to take him to the pub to watch the St Mirren celtic game Gary Hooper scored a late winner in a 1 nil victory.

He could not make it as the illness was getting the better of him, when I phoned him when the final whistle went, he said”I,m done son the day a canny get tae the pub tae watch THE celtic whits the point” (he always called us THE celtic)he passed away shortly afterwards ,

But like my father I hear what they said to me more today than when they said it,

So to any youngsters getting a bit of advice aff yer Da or an auld uncle in relation to THE celtic or anything else for that matter,Listen carefully.

  12. Kieran Prior is a very sharp investor. He is happy to generate a bit of publicity. If the Sevco share price goes up by a few pence, he stands to make tens of thousands of pounds quite quickly. For very little effort.

Nice work if you can get it.

  13. CRC,

That’s great stuff from the outstanding SFTB.

A-Z really applies to so many. Personally, I’m glad I only come under B for bampottery.

While nightime bampottery gets the most abuse here from a peculiar daytime snobbery, it’s pretty clear when you see it in black and white, that it’s all the other traits the rest of you have from A, and C to Z, that are the most feckin irritating.

But I drowned my sorrows in a Global Guiness Village last weekend so can deal with this to some extent.

Also glad to see someone at last point out how the indiosyncracies of the Australian set are more than offset by the grounded and common sense contributions from the moonhowlers.

There will be no tabloids in this dojo, will there? No Sensai.

SFTB, thanks for the A-Z – really, really enjoyed reading that. Plenty of laughs, and some serious points (especially X).

Hopefully you CQNers will take serious note of the important points in that article regarding your general behaviour and hang your heads in shame. You need to work on your bampottery – I’m going to offer lessons at £15 per hour depending on what kind of demand there is.

For all you CQN’ers who can’t have Sunday breakie at Aberdour or Glasgow try this

2lb ground pork mince ( or beef but I think pork sausage meat is best)

    > 1 ” nutmeg

    > 2 ” coriander

    > Mix all dry ingredients first.

    > Add meat a little at a time, mixing thoroughly.

    > Add 1 cup breadcrumbs at a time & mix thoroughly.

    > Add water only to bind. Shape into a long loaf.

    > Cover with cling wrap and refrigerate until hard enough to slice

    > Freeze flat..

How common is it, though, if only a handful of people have amassed wealth of this kind, while the rest of us earn in a year what this one transaction will yield for Kieran (if we’re lucky)?

I know which I prefer, incidentally.

Just seen the photo of the Ben Nevis ‘Highest huddlers’ …………gutted I couldn’t participate.

Unfortunately for some reason whilst in training my lower groin/top of thigh would tighten up after about 1.5 – 2 hrs walking…….possibly old scar tissue damage.

My fitness level is always very good …….lots of long swims etc so makes it harder for me to accept that I will not be taking part ………….wishing the huddlers all the very best for what should be a great day for a good cause.
