Being formed by immigrants still has power to shock

1162

A club formed by the Irish immigrant population sends best wishes to Scotland and Ireland. Read all about it! It’s as though our heritage still has the power to shock. How timely the outrage came hours before Celtic launched their “We are Celtic – and we say No To Racism” initiative.  This morning Scott Brown reminded us, “Celtic has been a club open to all people since its formation in 1888”.  Stick to task, Celtic.

Congratulations to our former boss, Martin O’Neill, in getting the Irish to at least the knock-out round. Commiserations to our other former boss, Gordon Strachan. Gordon will be feeling sore right now but he should lick his wounds and stick to task. He got the better of Ireland on their head-to-head and came within a whisker of also getting the better of Poland. The loss in Georgia was typical Scotland – you cannot change everything in two years, while Ireland taking four points from six off Germany is inexplicable.

Gordon is by far the best man to take Scotland the World Cup 2018 qualifiers; get on with it.

  1. Auldheid – seems to me that there’s an effort to try and derail the court action by putting stuff public that they know is going to cause a lot of chatter.

  2. Auldhied, is it significant he hasn’t been charged with anything?

Just picking up on what is mentioned in the other comments.

  3. Germans sent packing on Thursday night and now the mighty French. Proves small nations can achieve big results in the world of sport. Bravo Ireland.

Did anyone notice or care that Charlotte Fakeovers was named in the Sun?

    —–

I seen it when you posted earlier and thought hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

    Why now?

Who will it benefit naming him now?

who would want his name released in the rags?

What will plod and the crown prosecution have to say about his name being printed?

    A definite “We’ll see” moment,

my main question and thought was Are they trying to get it out in the open to stop it being used in court against certain folk who seem to have been bullet proof all through this.

No, just saw that. Very interesting, not least the extortion charge.

Will be interesting to see if plod follow up on this issue, surely if we named people relating to trials you’d be cuffs ? Anyway all the lies catching up with the lot o them , Govan mob will linger in championship next year.

  7. Scotland XI v Gibraltar: McGregor, Hutton, Greer, Berra, Robertson, Brown, Dorrans, Ritchie, Maloney, S.Fletcher, C.Martin

Is Brown trying to burn himself out? What is the point of him playing this meaningless game? He has a busy period of league and European games with Celtic so he should be at home in Scotland resting.

I’d have worded that better if sober, but my point remains the same. THE slave trade was orchestrated by Britain and the fall-out is still very evident 300 years later. What I really meant was that Britain has its prints on more World atrocities than any other country. The Spanish, French, Japanese, Chinese, Germans, Yanks etc have all had their claims to infamy but Britain just did it better.

He certainly wasn’t extorting Craigy, who was more than happy to play ball with him.

‘Mr Whyte had a predilection for deploying a special pen at meetings which recorded conversations. This pen’s USB facility later downloaded many allegedly incriminating discussions to hard disk. These recordings, and those made by Whyte of telephone recordings (which was an illegal act) may well be a feature in the forthcoming trial. Some of these are already in the public domain and were deemed to be eligible as prima facie evidence against Whyte at the Ticketus v Whyte trial at The High Courts of Justice Chancery Division. I’m certain that this legal precedent will feature in the Police Scotland prosecution’.

Oh the messier the better, judges here will probably rule it inadmissible though, anything to save Sevco goes in Scotland.

Scott Brown is Scott Brown…. He is probably playing because he feels he is part of the reason his manager didn’t make the euros/play offs, Scotland doesn’t interest me but am afraid our captain is a total professional and I wouldn’t ever try to change him (for the record I also like Gordon Strachan)

  13. Hello everyone, had a great day out in Glasgow with the better half, got home to see the Irish Riugby bhoys give their liver, lungs and everything else to get a result, inspirational in my opinion.

Anyone looking for very authentic tapas ? Get yourselves down to La Boca on Hope St, been twice now and all dishes have been first class.

The Charlotte story come as no surprise, there will be lots of this, all designed to get the inevitable result in favour of you know who. Murray , the man with no surname and their reign of ” we do what we want” will be airbrushed into history.

The closer we get to the trial , the more “evidence ” will show that the bastions of Presbyterian probiety will be portrayed as victims….wait and see.

  14. A footballing observation (as I’m logged in). Nearly all on here, including myself, bemoan the fact that Celtic can’t keep a team together for more than a year or so before we lose the better ones to greener pastures in the “land of milk and Honey” that is the EPL.

Whilst at the same time we are raiding what was once one of our main competitors in rapid succession resulting in their being in the relegation zone. With one more rumoured coming in january.

We used to castigate Rangers for buying up oppositions best and putting them in the reserves.

Is this now our policy as with austerity upon us of remaining ahead of the present pack. Do we next look forward to raiding for the best the Dons have and then……..

Until Sevco join us and we can again kindle a cosy “Old Firm” type 2 relationship without any other teams to worry about.

I much prefer as Auldheid tresses that all clubs are interrelated and moneys should be shared more equally to enable the smaller clubs to compete. Something as has been stated the USA have organised better than us.

The SFA would need sorting out before a level playing field can be had (again as Auldheid!)

    1. 20 am here now, enough (more than) for today.

  15. Auldheid,

I read you this morning about the rag naming that man as CF. Awful stuff. Is there anything can be done to protect him? I presume he was named as it will help some of those involved in the deid club’s demise. Only in Scotland and only for the died club.

  16. Jeepers between the egg chasing and this, I’m having palpitations. Think I might have to repair to the pub.

  17. MARRAKESH,

just saw your reply, orchestrated – well yes for 150 approx years but also stopped by and enforced.

Don’t like to think I could agree with your assessment that britain was/is worse than all those other countries you mentioned, or how it could be enumerated.

My opinion is that most/all countries in the same period if able would have done the same.

    Geography and timing??

I remember once that TD67 put a link to Nial of the 7 hostages, seems he invaded what would be England with help from the north and then went on to France where he met his end.

So if our geographical positions were reversed would Ireland have done much the same. From another link from “singing detective” on DNA through female line we are all Celtic. Seems the Saxons and Vikings being sea raiders didn’t bring many women with them, and there were plenty spare in England with many menfolk dead.

May I recommend a good book called Guns,Germs and Steel by Jared Diamond on geography’s influence on history.

  18. McGregor won’t like that, considering the tunnelcam caught him complaining about a green marking on the white ball before a match at Paradise, as the ‘referee’ let him have a feel.

    Of the ball.

It was a pleasure to get to spend some time with you bhoys and to be able to put a few more faces to the monikers.

Still rough though and still trying to piece some of the day/night together.

Still chuckling at Clogher……knew he had been posting here at 4am yesterday as his day began so yesterday was a long day for him……can kinda remember him saying ‘i need to go now’ about 10 times but never did before i eventually just headed off myself.

Quite possibly 1st man up and may well have been last man standing!

Many thanks to all of you bhoys for making it such a good day and for bmcuwp for making it happen.
