Better have Dresden expose some weaknesses

851

Technically we’re not preseason anymore, but today’s friendly away to Dynamo Dresden is an important step.  There are six weeks before the end of August, with five Champions League qualifier match days in that time.

Tuesday’s gentle introduction to competitive challenges was probably a good place to start for Celtic, this week’s run-out at Murrayfield will allow more of the squad to get some miles under their belt, but you can be sure we will meet our match at some point in the next six weeks.  It would be better for all that Dresden expose as many weaknesses as possible (at the time of writing that doesn’t look likely).

As usual, the mantra for these occasions is: no injuries.

Legia Warsaw are on league duty this evening. I hope we have someone watching.

Kickinthenakas, the number 4’s name is Kellagher but I can’t remember his first name. He was good and cleared the ball when it had to be cleared.

I was a tad disappointed with Paul George but he seems to have lost a bit since his leg was broken playing against the defunct club’s youth team two years ago.

The EKFC number 9 caused the defence a bit of bother when he was on the ball and took his goal well.

Darnell Fisher was there but not part of the squad.. I’m not sure if he is injured or not.

Stand-in skipper Kris Commons caused some concern when forced to leave the action prematurely after a clash towards the end of the first half. But the manager was hopeful he would be fit for the second-leg encounter against the Icelandic champions.

“He got a knee in his thigh,” he said. “It can hurt but I don’t think it’s very big and I hope he’s ready for Tuesday.”

Travel news from Celtic, just to confuse us :-)

Ingilston Park and Ride, just to be clear, is actually on the road into the Airport

YOU NEED TO BE TAKING THE SLIP ROAD INTO AIRPORT, just across from the BP garage, on opposite side of the road, and NOT into Ingilston long stay parking.

Hope this helps those not familiar

We should dispose of Legia but we certainly don’t help ourselves. No home advantage and probably no new signings. Let’s not build Legia up though.

    Travel advice.

Edinburgh is a tiny city. Go to the main street well in advance of kick off and ask someone how to get to the stadium. You are welcome.

Understand your sentiments, but Wednesday will showcase CP to the world. We now have the “Celtic way” and a magnificent approach to our East End Emporium which was sadly missing. The east end regeneration has transformed the area and can only enhance our quest for players.

In short it is a price worth paying.

Murrayfield : I have my doubts. Still maintain it is the wrong venue, IMO Easter Rd would have been better. I have a ticket and will hopefully use it , but still think a smaller, more atmospheric stadium with a capacity crowd would have been better suited.

I have always felt that the chaos that is Scottish football for the last 5 years (or more) rests with the S.F..A. After all ,whether they like it or not, they are totally responsible for the shambles that currently exists and all we hear from them is SILENCE. The time has come for our club and all the others,to do something about it. They are supposed to control the S.F.A. No one with half a brain can MISTAKE what is happening to-day for proper and effective management when one club and its officials ride roughshod over the rules and regulations. No wonder Vincent Lunny left. How long are we going to sit back and do nothing, while they march gaily on without a challenge. So is the season which is about to start going to be the same as those which have gone before. God help us if that is the case. LET’S HAVE NO MORE SILENCE!
