Better have Dresden expose some weaknesses

851

Technically we’re not preseason anymore, but today’s friendly away to Dynamo Dresden is an important step.  There are six weeks before the end of August, with five Champions League qualifier match days in that time.

Tuesday’s gentle introduction to competitive challenges was probably a good place to start for Celtic, this week’s run-out at Murrayfield will allow more of the squad to get some miles under their belt, but you can be sure we will meet our match at some point in the next six weeks.  It would be better for all that Dresden expose as many weaknesses as possible (at the time of writing that doesn’t look likely).

As usual, the mantra for these occasions is: no injuries.

Legia Warsaw are on league duty this evening. I hope we have someone watching.

Ye, as you say individual cases should be treated on merit.

There has been a few rotten apples allowed in and some dangerous ones at that.

Though, as I say to my kids…if my forefathers hadn’t been allowed into Scotland they probably wouldn’t have survived an gorta mor.

I realise there has to be a limit on immigration as there is only so much that the economy can sustain, still I find it upsetting that families that have settled for years get uprooted and flown back to the unknown. Hail Hail

The Zombies are seething at the thought of Celtic Pk being used for the opening ceremony of the Commonwealth Games..

That’s enough to make me happy..

    Indeed Green.

Refreshing to read posts which don’t harp on about past hatred. The ones who hate the Queen should have an Old Firm scrap with the Rangers men and leave everybody else to progress. Celtic men gave their lives defending Britain.

I would suggest that immigrants contribute plenty to the economy. Indeed they are being exploited very often.

They find it comical and bizarre that British people complain about ‘cuts’ to housing benefits: an alien concept to most of them.

Good night all. Marathon day of posting.

I think that the Irish teams have been getting stronger over the last few years. I reckon Legia will struggle to get through, here is hoping St Pats knock them out.

  13. My friends in Celtic,

No European tie is ever an easy ride. All teams now seem capable of scoring on the break ,away from home.

We must prepare and be professional against any opposition. It would seem our season could depend on it.

Are we playing St Pats or Mr Z’s team should we progress on Tuesday? I didn’t se the draw on Friday.

No offence Mr Z, but I hope it’s St Pats. Then Again, if if your beloved side, I get the chance to say hello again to you in fun city.

I’m gonnay be neutral on this one.

  15. Tricoloured Ribbon on

St Pat’s like ourselves don’t have home advantage as such as their game isn’t at Richmond Park.Hope I am wrong but I think Legia Warsaw will go through.

Nothing against the Poles, but I would rather the next tie was here in Ireland.

“Michael Davitt will turn in his grave”

    —————————-

On the contrary Michael Davitt in his later life was a great supporter and advocate of advancement of the British working class and was fine example to myself of someone instrumental to the principles of founding the British labour movement.

The commonwealth games and in particular Celtic FC have advanced the lives and conditions of the East End people. Our club was founded on the same principal of helping the poor of the East End.

As I said previously, and I reiterate a price worth paying.

    HH.

    —–

The Queen of Britain is working class?

Michael Davitt would support Brirish soldiers in Celtic Park?

    I know the East End

  18. GreenPinta, the next few games will define our season.

Last year, just before the second Karagandi game Kikinthenakas stated this is the most important game of the season, he was correct. This year, you are.

  19. VP is the all seeing eye, how he spotted me heading to the Roses gig after only seeing him once, well that is spooky. :D

I’m eternally grateful the wee chap isnae called Horus. :)

  20. tricoloured ribbon,

Spot on mate, huns in the work are choking at the way Celtic Park and the surrounding areas look…all they have is a crumbling dump…shit team…and a support that will be boxing amongst themselves in their stands.

It’s so good to be a Celtic man just now.HH

  21. Thankfully will be nowhere near a TV screen on Wednesday evening to witness the UK Monarch opening the Empire Games.

Whatever next…….Royal Marines and a ragtag assortment of Armed Forces abseiling from the Jock Stein Stand and whipping the crowd into a frenzy?

    You couldn’t make it up…….

  22. Sipsini
