Better have Dresden expose some weaknesses

851

Technically we’re not preseason anymore, but today’s friendly away to Dynamo Dresden is an important step.  There are six weeks before the end of August, with five Champions League qualifier match days in that time.

Tuesday’s gentle introduction to competitive challenges was probably a good place to start for Celtic, this week’s run-out at Murrayfield will allow more of the squad to get some miles under their belt, but you can be sure we will meet our match at some point in the next six weeks.  It would be better for all that Dresden expose as many weaknesses as possible (at the time of writing that doesn’t look likely).

As usual, the mantra for these occasions is: no injuries.

Legia Warsaw are on league duty this evening. I hope we have someone watching.

  4. TSD – that is indeed terrible. Doesn’t mean that Israeli slaughter of hundreds of Palestinians is any less wrong though.

Not sure what point you are making. Actually I am – but it’s a pretty weak argument.

You won’t find any Hamas or Isis supporters on here – you are literally trying to justify Israeli slaughter by citing terrible events elsewhere. Poor effort pal. Missing your intended target by miles…..

  6. My friends in Celtic,

Players who have not played in competitive football during the close season should not be injured at this time.

Players who are currently injured ( Scott Brown ) or reputedly injured ( Tony Watt ) must be doing something wrong. Either the training is wrong, the player is doing something wrong or the player is just totally injury prone.

All of the three are just unacceptable and unreliability only tests the patience of all concerned ( Management and fans ).

HH and sorry for being blunt, but this is how I feel season after season.

gets more difficult by the day.

Winning captains had a great, in perspective post today, telling us how p67 has great compassion for all, and knows most persons circumstances, so therefore doesnt just sit in judgement and deny posters their “voice”

    thats commendable.

  11. St stivs – I have reacted/responded lately. Have a say and then leave it. No one is going to change their minds so I reckon at least on lookers / lurkers will at least see that for every right wing nut on here there are plenty more decent tolerant Celts -as in real life!

Ignore, respond -whatever, but hang around. I take good long breaks from it now and then. Life is more important than worrying about the likes of our resident UKIPPERS

Middle class Socialists are fixated with Israel but ignore other atrocities worldwide. Although it isn’t so odd: the far Left, as exemplified by the loony UAF/SWP, has a long history of hatred of Jews – just like their friends on the far Right.

I respect the CQN posters, such as Turkeybhoy, who challenge the clique’s bias on this sad issue.

Bizarrely some posters make this an Old Firm issue, if one attempts to understand the troubles facing both sides of the Palestine issue, one is a hun. Weird. One is not a Celtic man unless one slavishly ‘supports’ the people of Palestine.

    Hypocrite? Absolutely not.

Liar? Never. And to be frank I don’t deal with people who want to trade on line insults. I am a pacifist and not a keyboard or real life hard man, but I don’t take being called a liar lightly.

Sorry mate but I’ve just returned from mass where the congregation like every other one in Ireland I’ve attended prayed for all Christians currently being attacked and murdered for their faith – we also have a collection to assist these Christians on a regular basis it’s called trocaire but then you wouldn’t know that as your not Irish and do not live in Ireland or attend Mass in Ireland

  22. TSD Has just called a good Celtic Supporter a Shameless Liar & a Hypocrite. Is that acceptable standard of debate. I’m the guy he told to more or less leave Celtic to the UK Supporters and stick with the hurling. Didn’t bother me in the least because I’ve met at least 20 CQN’ers in person and got a great welcome from them all. I am quite confident that I will never meet. TSD, Kojo, macjay, ryecatcher, Captain Beefheart, Smoke & Mirrors, Darwins beautiful idea to name a few. I wonder why is that.

Very useful game today I thought, in a game that may even approach the agricultural levels of our own league. Ronny will have learned a lot from this one. Not in the least: let’s get Kris sorted out for the remainder of his playing days and get him swotting for his coaching badges like big John. He’s one for the future.

    You stay and you post.

Celtic supporters generally have a great reputation for fairness and respond to our own and others adversity when the cause is just.

We are a diverse church ( Like multicultural Britain / Ireland ) with the one common denominator of supporting Celtic.

My own view is that racism is often an incorrect phrase or accusation and that equality is what matters. Equality, non- discrimination and respect for all regardless of Gender or ethnic origin.

IMO, No medieval or present doctrine should compromise this.

We have many professional and wealth creating people on this site. Great, the blog benefits enormously from this.

This is testimony to “Celtic Minded” people achieving equality in society despite many, many old boy networks, secret societies, establishment obstacles etc., etc.

30 years ago this would have been unthinkable and to some of our society it still is.

    HH. always in Celtic.

  27. listen—a bit of historical knowledge does not go amiss. Read ” Lepanto” by Chesterton. Look on google for “The Gates Of Vienna”. History repeats itself. Why should Nir Biton not offer up a prayer for his family and countrymen? I’m an unreconstructed Provo. It does not make me right. While you’re at it –look up Janissaries.

  28. Living_in_the_Love_of_the_Commons_People on

The bottom line on Nir Biton stirring things up and giving the wind up bloggers ammunition- your nationalistic allegiances are irrelevant to me when you pull on a Celtic strip, just keep them away from social media. Sound fair?
