Bigger questions loom than reconstruction

1092

We now know that Craig Whyte met Neil Doncaster and Ralph Topping, directors of the SPL, in London in October 2011 and informed them of the likelihood that Rangers would go into liquidation.  Whyte’s plan, to start a Newco and have it parachuted into top flight football was only taken seriously as a result of these three having a head start on everyone else and doing some preparatory work.

Charles Green has no such plans.  If he loses Ibrox, becomes embroiled in IPO-related troubles or fails to bridge the gap between money-in and money-out, an unplanned liquidation could follow with a potentially protracted period where physical assets are moribund and playing assets and other staff are released.

The SPL and SFL would do well to consider ‘what next?’ when they hold separate meetings next week.  The century-old ways are gone, things will never be the same again.

I’m really pleased the aforementioned Charlie issued an apology for his offending comments, even if he did so under duress from the SFA.  This kind of rhetoric has taken control within football in some European countries.  Once the door is open it is hard to close it again.

I won`t bore you with my “political” concerns. You already know them.

Simply put,as a matter of principle,if Celtic are to be subjected to pressure from one political group, then you would have to defend the right of any political group to put pressure on our Club.

    That`s ANY political group.

I was over in Belfast on the Wee Oscar bike ride and one of the conversations I had in The Crown Pub led me to believe that Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland very seldom meet.. I can only assume that the Sheriff in question somehow feels that a similar apartheid exists in Scotland.Hence his statement on denominational schools.

I have just read your post and thought to myself where has this guy come from. There are two types of people who drink in the crown bar in Great Victoria street in Belfast, tourists and loyalists. I assume he was not one of the latter!

Jungle Jim should ask himself why “As well as having their own schools, they also have their own living areas, taxis, pubs, shops and anything else you care to mention” this is the case.

Had he asked pertinent questions he would have found out that the locals in the crown bar (now owned by the national Trust) would not have it any other other way. They created the ghettos

By the way the man who owned the crown bar in the 1880s, Patrick Flanagan got Italian terraza workers from Italy to make up the image of the crown so that the good people of Belfast could walk over itI

If I told Belfast folk what I had heard from the guid people in The Toby Jug in Hope Street it would be an equivalent!

    Naive! Or just plain stupid

    Graham Spiers

Green’s comments have actually reminded me of an old Scottish football writer of years past who, when drink went down his throat, suddenly liked nothing better than to talk of “darkies” and “wogs”.

This was around the early 1990s, just at that point when decent society was learning to be more responsible in its use of language. I remember watching this well-known football figure mouthing off like this and thinking: “What a prick you sound.”

    ” darkie” ” wog” unacceptable.

    “prick” acceptable.

As a self-confessed Rangers supporter, you have to wonder whether the “Spiers guide to acceptable language” determines that the terms “fenian”,”taig” and “tarrier” should be blackballed.

Of course, maybe he`s never heard them before.

  23. So Chunky Green not only up on racist charges with SFA but now for use of “No Surrender” as aired at end of interview with Chris McLaughlin on SSB Monday night.

Strange thing is though – interview was recorded back in September last year!

Why did SSB sit on it?

    Why air it now?

Media manipulation of Hunnery proportions at work now to rid themselves of Green & Whyte nights.

  25. Morning all.

Just had a look at the Scottish football section on bbc website. The hard line is Dunfermline banned from Scottish cup. Why you may ask?

Well it seems that the sfa think a ban is in order due to Dunfermline not paying Hamilton gate money from the match played on February 2nd. Didn’t another club, fairly recently, host dundee utd in a Scottish cup match, a couple of days after the went into administration, and after they got put out on their arse didn’t pay gate money to utd? Didn’t hear sweet FA from the sfa about banning the other club.
