Biggest test since Crawford Allan re-refereeing games regime

Sunday’s League Cup final comes just one day shy of a year since Celtic last won a trophy, the Scottish Cup, season 2019-20.  That day we celebrated the Quadruple Treble, in the knowledge that the run would end there, as we were eliminated from a domestic cup competition for the first time since 2016 earlier that month.

We celebrated that penalty kick decider against Hearts at home, with the Hampden stands empty.  It is two years and two weeks since you and I have seen Celtic win a trophy in the flesh: that memorable League Cup win over Newco in season 2019-20.  Celtic were poor that day but we had the fortitude to go the extra distance and get the job done.

Celtic eliminated our main rivals in recent seasons, St Johnstone, in the semi-final.  This leaves the field open for Hibernian to become the third most successful Scottish club over the last decade, behind Celtic and St Johnstone – if they win on Sunday.  We should not take that motivation lightly.

Hibs sacked manager Jack Ross after the club dropped into the bottom half of the table.  A home win last time out over Dundee sees them remain in 7th spot, a point behind Aberdeen and 2 off both Motherwell and Dundee United.  The latter sit fourth, in a European spot, giving Ross scope to believe he was hard done by.

Celtic pummelled Hibs 1-3 at Easter Road in October but that was the last time the Edinburgh side have lost more than one goal –they have played 8 games since.  They are nothing if not strong at the back.  During that run the humbled Newco in their semi-final at Hampden and only lost to the same team due to a late penalty.  Most concerning of all, this is the biggest test since Referee Head Crawford Allan’s post-re-refereeing Celtic games regime started.  It demeans our game that we have to hope referee Don Robertson is not influenced by his boss.

There is a truism: if you are good enough to get to a cup final, you are good enough to win it.  Despite all the positivity around Celtic right now, we face a team who have genuine credentials to win the cup.  But with Tom Rogic on the field, what chance do they really have?

Snow is falling all around us, everybody’s having fun, t’is the season of love and understanding, Jag a Tim and Jag a Hun!”

    por cierto

  2. just like last season – the authorities/establishment will do their best to ensure any rules around covid will provide an advantage to rangers. There is simply too much at stake for them financially this season.

Re referees – every time someone calls to complain about a decision, the host counters it with a decision that benefited us or went against rangers. This is the NORMAL pattern in football around the world. What happens with Celtic is an absolute outlier – the number of controversial decisions that just happen to involve celtic. So many over the years – the most recents being the Starfelt situation and the County player saving the ball in the 18yrd box. If this is a rangers player the ref handles it differently.

Celtic FC need to get smarter with the stats – take 2-3 refs and monitor their behavior through independent body , look for similar incidents and compare how they are handled differently for celtic. The evidence is striking.

The level of hatred and jealousy against Celtic will never change unless we speak up!

My call for all anti vax nuts to be banned from here is I think a fair and (indeed if I may be so bold to suggest) a modest proposal.

Reading some of the nonsense being posted by the loonies last night was the last straw.

Take this racist nonsense from “Sceptical Citizen”

“Only Poland and Hungry refusing to take refugees from countries that EU/NATO helps to blow up, creating refugees in the first place, which amounts to hypocrisy off the radar, or there’s a replacement operation going on?”

Indeed “replacement “.thats an old right wing trope…The jews or the bankers or indeed just plain old them are conspiring to replace white christian europeans/americans with black muslim “lesser races” etc

Awful tripe …on the blog of supporters of a football team founded by immigrants and refugees of all places !!!

No new injuries for Celtic, but Ange Postecoglou says he’s yet to make a decision on Kyogo & James Forrest for Sunday’s final.

Chris Jullien training but still not ready to play.

Normally, I’d disagree but these are not normal times. If you follow the maxim that no-one is safe until everyone is safe then the un-vaccinated may be jeopardising the health of the community. In these times the right of the majority to stay alive trumps the rights of the individual.

It is quite possible that an un-vaccinated person could kill someone he or she has never met. That can’t be right.

    Its was racist

First they came for the Jews

and I did not speak out

because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for the Communists

and I did not speak out

because I was not a Communist.

Then they came for the trode unionists

and I did not speak out

because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the “anti vac nut jobs”

And I did not speak out.

Because I was not an anti vaccine person.

    Then they came for me

and there was no one left

    to speak out for me..

The blog has been riddled with racism of the kind inspiring your famous verse.

By jhb and the merry band of galloway racists.

Did you casually ignore a poster being asked to call out racism during last weekends shennanigans?

    Do you recall?

We had multi posters who have no interest in our club vomiting posts in support of those harassing rnli rescue services as they went to save life of refugees.

The chibheids, jhb and his crowd of multimonikers forwarded a loo roll of unsourced drivel when asked to call it out.

And the racist vermin post freely on what was the finest Celtic blog.they are crippled inside.

Racism is racism.regardless of political hue.

It is not my type or your type my friend

    It is racism.

    Catch a beer sometime.

Refugees are welcome,170 years ago our forefathers had rocks thrown at them coming up the Clyde on what John Kelly calls “the boats of faces”,boats tightly packed with human cargo. Those throwing the stones, are on this blog,be it in a crass, stupid and with layered repitition(the opposite of how they perceive their erudite racism). We continue to go on and and get better.

Racism has no place at Celtic

    Refugees are welcome

    God bless Celtic

Adds height and a bit of muscle that I don’t think Taylor has.

Good crosser and has a goal (one) in him.

Hibs will be more physical than skillful so we might need to match up.

  12. Injuries,

Ajeti plays instead of Kyogo so that we can rest Kyogo, 30 minutes later Ajeti does his hamstring so off he goes, on comes Kyogo, 30 minutes later he also does his hamstring,…

usually like most on here i just blink accept it and move on, but when you consider all the other absentees at present, Joto, McCarthy, Johnston , Forrest, Dembele, Giakoumakis, Julien,

    something clearly not right

  13. while I’m on, the poster JHB who gets regularly called out for being a sevco fan – are we sure about that?

I read his posts and cannot see anything in them that would suggest he is not one of us,

OK, so he thought Ross County may turn us over after equalising, I’m sure many of us may have had the same thought, and we’re nut huns, so why are we so certain that he is?

  14. Well done to the management of Ross County FC ( their board) who acknowledge that sectarian comments and singing took place in Ross County singing section on Wednesday evening in the match against Celtic, hopefully they will be able to find the culprits and deal with them accordingly.

JHB can speak for himself, but if his detractors defeated his points of view with the Celtic like cordiality with which JHB conducts himself, as does Ernie Lynch for that matter, then their detractors wouldn’t appear so venomous. I don’t agree with all that they say, but I would never vouch for the removal of their rights to say what they do.

Celtic fans quoting Chomsky might want to consider his recent comments about folk who don’t take the jab, Chomsky said they should be removed from society. Really? A man of his origin pleading for medical apartheid? Yeah, he has said a lot of interesting things in his time but he’s crossed the line on this imho. There are already camps in Australia, and Canada as well I believe, and looking at recent comments on here Celtic fans 2021 would be out every Thursday night cheering and rattling pots and pans as unjabbed are marched past to their newly built camps, the flavour of Celtic supporters in the main in 2021 falling for media propagandists? Really? Celtic fans believing the media? No wonder the same fans have gotten down on their knees and sucked up the same club lies rubber stamping the lies with a £49 oldfirm ticket! Kev J you were right! The megaphone fountains of knowledge were woefully off the mark.

JHB makes many coherent, pertinent and precocious posts about Celtic.

No matter the content, his detractors will criticise without offering any educated rebuttal.

The reason is that he calls out the SNP government for their misgivings. Note : Paul 67 does the very same.
