I’ve not spent a lot of time online this week (work sometimes creeps in) but can’t believe the amount of traction that notion that Sevco would somehow be able to acquire SFA membership of a dead club, with all associated benefits, but be in a position to dictate set terms on how past misdeeds of Rangers would be recorded.
This is a bogus debate which serves only to deflect from the more serious issues facing Sevco, namely, do they have circa £25m to pay their way this season? If not, their pedantic views of disciplinary matters are moot, although they may be used as a principled excuse to fold a football club.
On more positive matters……….
Tony Hamilton asked me into the Celtic TV to discuss various issues surrounding the club. We spoke about how recent events elsewhere have had a galvanising impact on supporters of Celtic and other clubs, where Celtic’s future should be. I also gave a breakdown of what the death of Rangers would mean financially to Celtic, with or without Champions League group stage qualification, talked about how it would benefit the entire Scottish game if we found a new league to play in, and the great atmosphere we have at Celtic Park these days – which you can experience if you buy a season ticket, which you absolutely-without-a-doubt-should!

Dundee fans’ loyalty rewarded with confirmation that Kilmarnock match goes ahead
Dundee chief executive Scot Gardiner has received the green light from the SPL to move preparations for the Dark Blues’ first game back in the SPL into top gear.
SPL secretary Iain Blair intimated to Gardiner on Thursday that the match will definitely go ahead as planned. That information is good news for more than 2000 Dark Blues fans who are descending en masse on Kilmarnock next week.
Gardiner has discovered that there are no more buses available in Dundee with fans having to contact businesses in Fife for coaches.
And the chief executive also revealed that the return to the SPL has sparked a big surge in season ticket sales.
He said: ”I spoke to Iain Blair today and he told me to go ahead with our plans for Kilmarnock. Things with Rangers are at an advanced stage. They are not 100% yet but we have been told that we are virtually certain to be at Peterhead on Tuesday and then in Ayrshire on Saturday.
”It is good that the uncertainty is out of the way. To be honest, I was fairly relaxed about the situation but I had asked that we should be given a serious heads-up if the Kilmarnock game was going to be postponed.
‘Look forward’
”However, we have been fully engaged with all the SPL sponsors for a while now, which tells you as much as anything that we were going to get the go-ahead.
”The SPL website still has us listed as ‘Club 12’ but for instance there is a competition on league sponsor Weatherseal’s website where Dundee are named as one of the teams.
”So it is good to have word from the SPL about receiving our share and we can now look forward to going to Kilmarnock.”
He added: ”It looks like we will be taking more than 2000 fans with us, which is great for the team and for Kilmarnock as well. I am sure they will be delighted that the game will go ahead and not be moved to a midweek date.
”The fans have been magnificent. There isn’t a bus to be had in the Dundee area now as the supporters have booked them all. I have been hearing that they have been going as far afield as Glenrothes and Kirkcaldy to get buses. That just shows the level of support we will bring to the league.
”There may have been a bit of uncertainty about the Killie game but the fans were not hanging about. Incredibly, we have even had to order more season ticket books, such has been the demand from fans.”

Define “same basis”.
To my simple mind, if you pay the income tax and NI you are legally bound to pay, you’re doing it on the same basis as everyone else, i.e. in compliance with the law of the land.
And we’ve got a pretty nifty system of deciding who is obeying the law and who isn’t, i.e. the courts. It’s not a perfect system, but it works well enough. (thumbsup)

“No surrender” has been the battle cry of the Rangers hordes which have attacked more European capitals than Adolf and Attila.
However, I do believe today the cry will be “we surrender!”
I have received information that an 11th hour deal is being hatched that will allow Sevco Scotland into the SFA.
My moles in the real Big Hoose have told me that the thorny issue of EBTs and dual contracts will remain on the agenda.
Charlie seems to be ready to accept this logical inevitability, but what of the resident rabble rouser in chief?
As Sevco trudges through Division 3 I expect that justice on the historical issue of the illegal registration of players by the deceased club will finally arrive before the season is concluded.
