I know Ronny Deila was delighted Dedryck Boyata pitched up at Glasgow Airport last night. He’s a player the manager has known about for some time and one who was not on the Man City available list when we secured the loan deal for Jason Denayer a year ago.
The mechanics of the deal are interesting. It’s quite possible it wouldn’t have happened at all without the success Jason enjoyed in Glasgow. A year ago Jason was a complete unknown, below the pecking order than Dedryck, but we gave him a platform and now he’s a full Belgian international. The pitch we put to Dedryck was along the lines of “Look what Jason achieved here”. If we’d singed Dedryck instead of Jason a year ago, Jason would still be an unknown and Dedryck would be a Belgian international.
Assuming no late hiccups, Ronny will know his central defensive pairing for the Champions League qualifiers is sorted, allowing him to concentrate on other areas.
There are no guarantees in football, least of all with Champions League qualification, where we have three awkward knock-out rounds, but we’re starting the summer from a good place.
There’s so much to discuss about yesterdays’ Fir Park hilarity, the consequences of which will be profound. More on this later in the week, but a few points on Motherwell. For a team with such glaring shortcomings they deserved the scale of their victory. Barraclough took a squad who finished 11th in the league into two challenging games and out-thought his opponent.
However, if Celtic fans behaved the way Motherwell fans behaved yesterday your Government would be all over it by now. I’ve seen flares thrown onto pitches, I’ve seen pitch invasions (although I don’t remember seeing one congregating in front of opposition fans), but I’ve never seen a player smacked in the face and leg by a spectator’s flag, and I’ve never seen anything close to this entire repertoire from fans at a single game.
Who knows what the score would have been had Newco faced the team who finished 10th in the Premiership! Their attempt to emulate Grenta in winning three successive promotions always sounded like a tall order. They came close, but they’re no Gretna. Not. Nearly. As. Good.

San Diego Bhoy, I will give you a shout if I am down your way. I grew up in Orange County and used to go watch games in Santa Monica when the LA club was there. We have a club up in Sonoma County so if you are ever up here feel free to let me know and I would gladly take you wine tasting. The San Francisco Bhoys are great. I look forward to seeing them in Las Vegas. My first time going to the convention.
———
Warm up your vocal cords for the convention, for singing there shall be. My wife still talks about her first Vegas experience…and that was 2004 (or was it 2005? Canny remember rightly).
I’m familiar with the LA CSCs as well, I was a regular in them between ’00 & ’03. Even took part in the footie tourney our own Rod Stewart organized back then, not sure if that’s still going on.
Enjoy the blog and take everything with a hefty pinch of salt.

What I can’t believe is that someone dreamed up a dastardly plan and put it in writing and shown to its enemies so that they would publicise the dastardly deed.
And, what was it that Labour or Better Together got from the OO in return for “allowing” them to have oodles of parades?
A commitment to vote No in the referendum? Like they were considering voting any other way?
If it makes no sense, it is because it is nonsensical.
Even a bad Bond film would not attempt a see-through plot line like that.
Re shame gamer 2 .Paul Lambert adding his voice to those sticking to the party line ‘let the football authorities deal with it’. So basically their argument is if I were to assault someone in a pub that the local license committee should deal with me a not the constabulary and due judicial process? Does being a member of a football club somehow grant you immunity from prosecution from assault as long as the offence is committed inside a football stadium.

Pastor Michael McCurry? Surely no?
Mark Dingwall too?
Avoid the city centre this weekend.

Hamburg.
There is a Norn Irn Supperters Club that meets in an Irish bar across the road from the giant masonic monolith in Holborn. I am friendly with a guy – he’s an Apprentice Boy – who goes to watch them there and he told me that the crowd that go are very conscious about being seen to be non-sectarian (even if they are) except for the same two loadmouths, who give the Pope a kicking at every opportunity.
He spoke to them and they turned out not to be from the Shankill but from Germany, and were Hamburg fans.
And the reason they go and watch the wee North?
They’d gone to see The Huns in Glasgow and bought into that special club ethos immediately.
They loved the hatred, and they couldn’t see why anyone else wouldn’t feel the same
Totally Unbelievable & Completely Unacceptable that this is being allowed
Whoever gave the go ahead for this Sectarian Rabble To pass itself off as
a day out for the community leaves me sick.

Personally I’m all for football dealing with football matters.
Moshni’s actions yesterday had nothing to do with football. It wasn’t a mistimed or even malicious tackle. It was downright thuggery.
FWIW,Tonev’s alleged racial remarks were investigated by the police. As have others been. This should be no different.

I’m feeling so much better. The op was a big success, but took so long to get over. After a friggin head cold, I’m feeling brilliant. Have not felt this well for ghod knows how long. Which makes me wonder how long the ole abcess has affected my every day functions???

Cliques is an unfortunate word to be used in describing CQN Groups or friendships.
To Me CQN is one big clique, it is like Celtic open to all. Yes, there are so called clique groups but I put this down to one thing and one thing only, there is no venue in my opinion that we CQN could hire that could bring all the cliques together for all those that lurk or post on CQN. If we could it would be great.
CQN is for one purpose, to allow Celtic minded people to express their views on all things Celtic and other things that affect our existence. Some choose to discuss other matters e.g. Politics but that’s not for me. Celtic and football related only for me but if you want to discuss other things fill your Boots.
I have made some special friends on CQN and from time to time meet them when I can in terms of time and finance permitting. I will not exclusively just meet those friends I have made, I will socialise with anyone and I mean anyone that lurks or posts on here. My point, there are no exclusive cliques despite some of you thinking there are.
I will never put in print what if I think any poster is not a nice person. Yes, we may like some more than others and may well have good reason e.g. Their contributions to a particular cause(s) but come on Ghuys to send around e-mails decrying a fellow poster is just not in the CQN way.
I don’t agree with decrying fellow posters on the blog but if you must do it on the blog, not in e-mails.
I am guilty of being a member of the CQN clique and splinter CQN cliques. I am NOT a member of any e-mail CQN clique.
Rant over.
I am CQN , we are all CQN.

I have no idea of the ins and outs of the Tom McLaughlin affair.
However, and I include myself in this, if you participate in a forum that allows people to post using nom de plumes, then you simply take what you get.
After all, less than forty eight hours ago, despite as he requested providing evidence to back up my assertions, Lennon’s Passion was persisting in describing me a mental.
And you know what he is as entitled to his opinions ansd attitudes as I am to mine.
Good grief the only email I’ve had was from sipsini inviting me to one of his gay toga parties.
I told him a canny make cos Im washing my hair.

Well said, it’s hardly worth getting hot under the collar in what is mostly an anonymous medium anyway.
I’m just here for the Battered Bunnet’s laser financials over a certain extinct species. Always gives me a right laugh.
B))
I’ve just seen the programme for Saturday’s orange bigot fest in Glasgow, a blast from the past makes an appearance , yes one Pastor Mike McCurry!
One of the articles on yesterday’s funfest described Bell’ s attempt to prevent the first goal by saying his footwork couldn’t have been worse had he been wearing clown shoes. I am afraid that this brought me an image of the whole sevco team playing in clown shoes and red noses, and hilarious as the image was I realised it couldn’t have been any funnier than the reality :)
There is a Roasters Clique and fine you, as a founder member, know it.
Good post LennyBhoy.
