Brendan Rodgers today became the 18th manager in Celtic’s history. Rodgers, 43, managed Liverpool for three years until October, after guiding Swansea to the English (and Welsh) Premier League in 2011. He previously managed Reading and Watford.
His appointment is unquestionably the most popular since the arrival of fellow Irishman, Martin O’Neill, 16 years ago. Known for his belief in playing attacking, possession-based football, he will bring a force of personality to the club and to Scottish football.
Rodgers occupied the top position on Celtic’s wanted list at the start of the month, but the desire to sign him up was tempered by the belief that attracting a manager of such a profile to Scotland would be difficult. My understanding is that as soon as talks got underway in earnest, it was clear neither party would let the opportunity slip away.
I’m delighted at the appointment. The club already feels reinvigorated.
Welcome to Celtic, Brendan. Let’s get on with the job.

Fantastic appointment for our dear club today! Really feels like a turn toeards better days, and beautiful to see the divided in our support united in one fell swoop.
Now where’s me passport !!!
Guys, I just received a personal email from Brendan Rodgers there!
WOW Celtic media Dept are working overdrive tonight, I might go club Celtic next season or buy wee yogi a season book a year early!
Dear John
I am honoured today to be named the new Manager of Celtic Football Club. This is a huge privilege for me and it is a role which I will give everything to.
As someone who has supported the Club all my life, I know exactly what Celtic means to so many people. Celtic is one of the most famous football clubs in the world, one which enjoys the fantastic support of so many people, such as yourself.
I will give everything to my new role to bring further success to our club. I can’t wait to get started next season and I hope to carry on Celtic’s wonderful winning tradition and bring you exciting and entertaining football as well.
Your support has always been a great strength of this club, and I’m sure that will continue to be the case. Together we can continue our position as the best club in Scotland, and make inroads once again in Europe.
I can’t wait to see you all in Paradise.
Best wishes,
Brendan Rodgers
Hail Hail..
Still buzzin at our declaration of intent… What a great bit of business!!! C’mon the Hoops.!!
Oh how the media cant stand it though.. forgive me if this has been posted before.. but this is how BBC Scotland reported our news….
A switch to Liverpool followed and Rodgers came close to the title in 2013-2014, finishing two points behind Manchester City. However, he left Anfield without winning a trophy.
◾Why did Liverpool sack Brendan Rodgers?
◾Rodgers leaves Liverpool – how Twitter reacted
◾Rodgers could not fool Liverpool fans any longer
Rodgers will come up against Rangers manager Mark Warburton next season, with the two men having worked together on the coaching staff at Watford.
We don’t forget BBC Shortbread.. our Glory days are coming.
The appointment of BR appears to have reignited the support and will no doubt about it take season tickets back to near the 50k I would imagine, this would have happened with this appointment even if sevco were not promoted.
Now chase down the corrupt SFA with Res 12, and the club makes it clear about what it thinks of a four year old club which is claiming the history of a liquidated entity.
Please BR be ready to deal with the” old firm ” questions you will be asked in various ways on Monday, I wish you well Brendan and I hope you do bring fun entertainment and success to the support the club and yourself.
I wonder who will be his support staff will be as I think JK is still at the club.
TheGlasgowCelticWay,
On my first trip to Paradise walking down Argyle Street, my mate remarked to me the number of distinctive “Irish” Faces you could see amongst the General Public. I started taking an interest and he was bloody right.
I liked Lambert’s comments on sky, ‘He’ll be joining a club that is not inferior to Liverpool’.
Email, wit email, where’s ma email ?!
A great day for my first post, really pleased with our new managers appointment, welcome Brendan I’m sure we’ll do well together, HH.

“What has he done ” Are you serious ?
I think we all know that the money men rule these days, and always have done, and if they decide that we are in the slow lane, we are in the slow lane, if they decide to move into the fast lane like our major shareholder has decreed we will, had he not we would still be in the slow lane appointing McKay or the like.
As for detail, no chance.

The look on the face of the two sevco fans in my work at the news of Brendan Rodgers’ appointment, told me all I need to know. Jim Shite showed the same haunted feart look on Sevco Sport News tonight. Nice.

LOCHOREBHOY
Welcome mate:))
Yer no a…no of course not:))
Doc, Cowiebhoy, WITS,
Noted you chat on the Falkirk CSC last night,
There was indeed a bus run from the Braes in Falkirk by Lawrence Harvey, i had a couple of seasons on it before the Neil Mochan bus from Denny started. It used to pick up through Falkirk then Denny at the Railway Hotel.
Lots of great guys on the bus at that time, they were in deed behind enemy lines in places like Maddiston, Rumford, Westquarter, Hallglen.
WITS,
over the past few years i have made not an unsubstantial profit from your horsey tips, if our paths ever cross needless to say the drinks will be on me, cheers amigo and keep them coming.
HH gebhoy
Big welcome to Lochorebhoy…..are you a hun? ;-))

Would have loved to have seen that……
BSR, shame they were liquidated indeed, shame is a good word in relation to Rangers.
CowieBhoy, 100% endorse that idea, a press conference first for Celtic media, superb.
NEUSTADT-BRAW, now that was funny:-)
DD
Ha, yes, they’re pig sick. Scrambling around looking for negatives. Luvvin it

Even that Oldtim fhella had someone who is enjoying his company call me earlier to chastise me :-))))
MWD, a lot of sympathy with your views, I hope Celtic have been awoke from the slumber, this being the start, ya stubborn git :-) your 6’1″ Bhoy will want to see us with Brendan at the top
Hail Hail
Appointment of Brendan Rodgers
Still sort of stunned, even though we were all given two days advanced notice, it’s still momentous news.
Not a fan of Americanisms but “what the heck!”, it really is a banner day for the club.
Fantastic news for everyone connected with wanting to see Celtic win games and play attractive football. A poster either yesterday or today got it spot on when he said that progress in finding a team who will gel is the most important thing the new man can do in season 1.
If he can find 18 guys who will be able to fit his starting XI and 7 subs and then find a couple spare to cover injuries, then even if we’re forced to sell one or two, he’ll know who to buy and where the priorities for next season should lie.
All that’s for the season ahead.
Welcome to Celtic!
Follow follow has 13 pages on Brendan now. ( these are the ones who say WE’RE obsessed with THEM)
The guy’s not even in the door yet but it’s a cert every Tim worldwide will be talking about him, and buzzing.
A good few on here have already noticed the hun vomit-omitor reaching 10 (the dreaded number) through the desperate tones of bfdj and the sour mugs of Jim White and Blue tie Mackay.
Magic.
Gebhoy, I have memories of that bus too, but don’t think it was the same as the Laurieston bus, it picked up in Falkirk and Laurieston. I’ll see Auld Doc over the weekend, his memory is rank though.

Big welcome to Brendan Rodgers!
I’m probably not the first, to register my disappointment with the board for ‘pandering’ to the fans. Big names guarantee nothing, and we will now probably blow millions on players trying to compete in the elite champions league!
But seriously, do you think you will ever be able to say that again, any watching huns??
LOL
Think it might actually be a good time to come back to Scotland………
Like you could wind me up, jeez:-)
THEGLASGOWCELTICWAY on 20TH MAY 2016 8:36 PM
Still absolutely buzzing.

I warned you about that glue 20 odd years ago!!!
Nobody has explained why why we should be ever so humble towards DD and grateful that he has (apparently) enabled this to happen. Also, no-one seems to want to know any detail re the package. We all happily bow to the money men for their generosity in “giving” us what we deserve. And pay for.
Brendan Rodgers as manager is a sound appointment which excites me.
But the veneration of the money men is despicable. Why do we need them? Why do some worship them?
The Lurkin Tim.
works ok for me mucker
Delaneys,
what you doing working with huns anyway
Well done Celtic. Canny wait for next season. Welcome Brendan. HH. Popping off again.
