Brendan Rodgers appointed Celtic manager

1136

Brendan Rodgers today became the 18th manager in Celtic’s history. Rodgers, 43, managed Liverpool for three years until October, after guiding Swansea to the English (and Welsh) Premier League in 2011. He previously managed Reading and Watford.

His appointment is unquestionably the most popular since the arrival of fellow Irishman, Martin O’Neill, 16 years ago. Known for his belief in playing attacking, possession-based football, he will bring a force of personality to the club and to Scottish football.

Rodgers occupied the top position on Celtic’s wanted list at the start of the month, but the desire to sign him up was tempered by the belief that attracting a manager of such a profile to Scotland would be difficult. My understanding is that as soon as talks got underway in earnest, it was clear neither party would let the opportunity slip away.

I’m delighted at the appointment. The club already feels reinvigorated.

Welcome to Celtic, Brendan. Let’s get on with the job.

Why are you so obsessed with the “detail”? Gives peace. Just enjoy the afterglow like everybody else. The men at the top got the job done. They deserve credit just like they deserved the brickbats we’ve given them over the last year. A bit of credit where credit is due. We asked them to match the ambition of the supporters. Today they did that. Job done. Try to enjoy life for a wee while at least instead of sounding like the Grinch.

  3. Had to do some painting for 4 hours to calm me down. Still not sunk in. As with anything nothing is guaranteed but we have given ourselves a good chance of success.

Over the moon. Enjoying a couple of drinks to celebrate.

Somebody mention Zlatan?! I don’t think I could handle that. We can but dream!

For those, and there are plenty, on here, whose raison d’etre is the denigration of Peter Lawwell, Dermot and the board; those who accuse PL of ‘signing’ players, accuse Ronny of being economical with the truth when he said that he had personally approved all incoming players – then please have a look at this:

Just read through every page…..brilliant to see how invigorated everyone is by our new manager.

Too ignorant about the man myself as i very rarely watch/take an interest in anything in football apart from Celtic but i do have a bit of respect for my ex’s sons footy knowledge even if he is from the dark side!

Anyway…….when i was talking to him a few days ago he said the only guy he really hoped we didn’t get was Brendan Rodgers.

As much as there has been a brilliant vibe through all those pages from you bhoys, my own expectations were probably heightened the most strangely enough……..by a sevconian ;)

Sorry to hear that about yer mam. Not been reading that much either these days. Sometimes it takes too long to get through the rubbish to get to the great posts.

Sometimes I think we could do with 2 places to post on the blog, one for all the rubbish and fighting, and one for the football and absolute gems of posts that the likes of BRTH posts. Guess a wee bit like how bars used to be with 2 doors or a different room. The public bar and the lounge bar…….

Anyway, glad to hear she is up and aboot noo! Hopefully dad will be too soon.

Would have loved to watch a match with you here! But doubt you will make it now, coming back very soon, so will just have to make do with paradise, lets hope its not just the qualifiers this time. :-D

Some mad bunch of football supporters are putting together a statement that could cause more than a little embarrassment to a local media that hitherto agreed a wee conspiracy of silence regarding a report on the Rangers Tax Scandal and the role of the SFA.
