Brown called Green right with only one solution remaining

1082

Scottish football has gone through months of drama and uncertainty to rescue ‘Rangers’.  Only weeks ago we were told a CVA was likely.  Once this failed the question of today’s SPL vote crystallised.

The SPL met several times to discuss this matter, even doing so before Rangers CVA failed.  Sentiment was firmly behind Newco, to the extent that some were worried they would be allowed into the league without any sanction (if one Ayrshire club had their way).  All this changed when Charles Green and Duff and Phelps agreed to challenge the SFA at the Court of Session.  At the SPL meeting following this decision the mood changed dramatically.

I then had several friends in the media rubbish my suggestion that Newco were far from certain of being voted into the SPL.  To be fair to them, my information was not coming from Neil Doncaster, whereas theirs was.  If Doncaster was so assured when speaking to the media, day after day, we can only imagine what he was saying to Green. His influence has not been helpful to the cause he championed.

Clubs, who were previously weighing up the argument, suddenly had a convincing point to consider.  Rangers going to court was the biggest own goal in their 140 year history.  Terry Butcher, eat your heart out.

After this Green was at the mercy of fortune, and the growing influence of the hawk(s) in the SPL who saw no need to create space for Newco.  In many respects, John Brown is correct.  Having gambled and failed, Green did whatever he could to accommodate but there was no way back.  Underestimate John Brown at your peril, he has his club’s interests at heart and has the fortitude to raise a phoenix from the ruins of Ibrox.  His unconventional style is easy to mock but it is just what needed (I truly believe this).

Where now for the Newco-Sevco-Rangers?  I don’t see a solution.  Sooner or later Mr Green will let his friends know they only way forward is for him to acquire an existing Scottish Football League club, rename it to something like Rangers United, and move it to Ibrox.

The toxic history would be set free and it would be game-on.  Keep your eye on Cowdenbeath.

Read the post. The CLUBS will fire them.

  9. The stupid thing about Killie’s abstention is that it was effectively a ‘No’ vote anyway.

Sevco needed 8 ‘Yes’ votes. Anything other than a ‘Yes’ is a ‘No’ in this case.

It did however declare to all the other clubs (& fans) that he is a closet hun who doesn’t listen to his own teams support.

I have every confidence that he will be given the boot by those same fans at the earliest opportunity.

    Hmmmmm. I did.

For the clubs to fire them then that would mean ALL or a majority of clubs in Scotland would have to consider them as being completely incompetent. Do they? If so then not only is SF1 out but so is SF2 SPL2 and even SF3 which means no Sevco Choppers anywhere. I cant see that happening thats why I cant see the clubs doing it. Only if Sevco Choppers are annihilated will they “get fired”. I think they’ll show up at Rugby Park. Dont get me wrong If they do get fired which means this annihilation has transpired it would be a dream come true!

All the fans have to do is force the debate. I am 100% confident than at least one of those three corrupt barstewards would be seeking alternative employment by the time we were done … and my money would be on all three being gone, and Ogilvie cleaning out his desk with them.

Lets see what happens. When it comes to Celtic I dont trust anyone in Scotland including your label of “fans”.

  13. With regards to Dodo Brown, the police need to be called in to clamp him up before he utters another word.

He is whipping up the anger of the most base hunnites, the ones who are most likely to go out into the streets and take out their vengence on the first Celtic fan they come across.

After the last year, where the Celtic manager has been physically assaulted (despite the failure of the court to convict), received death threats, parcel bombs etc… any intelligent person would see that whipping up a frenzy is likely to lead to the social disorder Regan referred to. OK, Mr Brown ain’t the brightest candle on the cake but even he must know how the fans will react.

It is not the decision of the SPL or SFL that will cause social disorder, it is the primitive, caveman mentality of the diehard huns, epitomised by the likes of Brown, Sardine and Sally.

Yes, I too fear social disorder. It’s not stating anything new. That is where Mr Salmond and Co must speak out clearly that any social disorder ensuing from this fiasco will be met with the full force of the law. And the law, needs to take the main protagonists in this affair to one side and tell them in no uncertain terms that they will be up before the magistrate if they don’t moderate their tone.

    James F…..,

    point of order

“If the SFL clubs follow through on their principles, and Rangers Newco is treated like any other club, and thereby must start in SFL 3, these men have suggested they may apply a truly nuclear solution to what they view as “the problem.”

Newco are not a club therefore the new entity has criteria which must be met through the existing articles of associations menbership and licensing rules.

    Awe_Naw..,

has been reminding us for a while now, that a new entity requires to apply for associated membership (see section 6 applicayion and fee’s http://www.scottishfa.co.uk/resources/documents/SFAPublications/ScottishFApublications2011-12/Scottish%20FA%20Handbook.pdf ) then after a successful period of probation can apply for full membership.

Isn’t it ironic that taxpayers are paying for banks who’se executives are applying the same criminal thievery that rangers applied who were ultimately thwarted by the taxman who’s taxes are used to pay for banks etc etc.

Probably the wrong time to ask but as only an occasional attender at CP, where is the best part of the stadium to buy a season ticket? I’ve been looking on the official website at prices and as one who will only be able to attend occasionally due to work and distance considerations, I would be grateful if someone could give me a steer on the most rewarding ticket /area choice for when I can get there. Main considerations would be view, atmosphere and proximity to pie shops (only joking about the pies). Bit of a newbie to this so honest advice would be appreciated.

If you can manage the stairs (!), around sections 413, 414 & 415 in upper tier of Lisbon Lion stand (old Sevco end) is just above the Green Brigade and atmosphere is excellent. There are a number of restricted view seats which bring the price down to under £450, and if you can get a good RV seat its well worth it. Also good access to pie shops…

  27. How magnanimous of you Mr Charles Green, to acquiesce to play in whichever league the SFL decide to place you in.

And if that league is the Glasgow Pub League, as I think that is about the only one you might qualify for?

Rangers (ia/l) are about to be liquidated. They are gone. But, let’s not dwell in the past (as you seem to want) and let’s look to the future.

So, Sevco Scotland Ltd (or whatever they are going to be called by the time I stop typing) are applying for membership of the SFL.

In fairness to every club, including yours, and in order to maintain the true sporting integrity of the game we will not treat you any differently to any other new club.

Neither will we tarnish you with the baggage from the old RFC (ia/l) which you, for some utterly bizarre reason, decided to take on.

So, no punishment for the past sins of RFC (ia/l). Let’s just take you as a completely new club. OK?

    1. Do you have 3 years membership of the SFA?

    No?

Oops. Sorry, failed at the first hurdle.

We’ll see you again in 3 years time then.

    Bye.

Close the door behind you as you leave, thanks.

James Forrest Excellent post at 1.43.

James we disagreed the other day with respect to the lack of a Celtic statement ahead of the vote. I’ve read your interim assessment of yesterday’s statement and agree fully that we’ve presented ourselves properly now in respect of the issue at hand and our pledge of support to other clubs going forward.

Further I agree wholeheartedly with your forensic analysis contained in the post above that all 3 of the principals of the Scottish football authorities have shown themselves to be beyond incompetent, verging on corrupt and exhibiting behaviour which requires action to remove them from office for the greater good of the game. I also agree that harnessing fan power will be the catalyst for this action.

The questions I would raise are how do we precipitate these actions? and as a part of that how do we distill their myriad wrongdoing to a few very simple statements which every fan can examine and see clearly that those actions must be undertaken? Warsaw.
