Brown launches bid to buy Rangers’ assets

1612

Former Rangers player, John Brown, spoke to Sky Sports this morning outside Ibrox and launched a takeover bid for the former club’s assets.  Yesterday he resigned as a scout for the company before urging Rangers fans not to renew their season tickets.

In an interview reminiscent of a memorable scene from Blazing Saddles, Brown told Sky:

“If [the fans]invest, we’ll setup a bank account that all the season ticket money can go in there, and we can guarantee that we will buy this club over from this regime because it’s coming back into Rangers hands.

“Gone are the days, of the, the money that we spent.  It’s going to be handled differently this time.  The fans are going to buy it over.  We have the backing from powerful people who are going to invest, but the fans will invest, and they’ll offer Charles Green, if he says he’s got the title deeds in his name, we’ll make an offer, once we see the hidden letters, any deeds that have been done in the past, if there’s any stumbling blocks, where’s Ticketus in all this, we’ll deal with that, once we see the title deeds, of this stadium, that I was proud to play for, in a number of years through nine-in-a-row, and we’re going to get our club back, but we need a bit of honesty from Charles Green.”

Reports that after hearing Brown, Charlie Nicholas is worried for his analyst position with the broadcaster, have not been confirmed.

I’m pleased for John Brown – he’s getting his 5 mins of fame that largely evaded him in his playing career as his limited ability was mostly eclipsed by other Rangers Legends.

Cometh the time , cometh the man .. Or so they say. It’s time to pile the dirt on the coffins d really nobody is better placed to do that than Bomber… The shovel’s all yours John- fill the hole in. No need to dig any deeper just cover it all up and we can all move on..

I seem to remember when as a young lad, in the late 70’s early 80’s, Bomber Brown and his Hamilton Accies team mate, who shall remain nameless…..standing in the old Rankers end of CP with, geen & white walk-on scarves during, several games. Obviously not the old glesga – derby.

I went through school with, BB’s former team mates brother’ from a Celtic die-hard family.

For what its worth, I thought BB was a quality player before he drank from satans trough at the house of evil.

  5. Reports in France of Celtic after Michael Ciani

Under contract with Bordeaux until June 2013, Michael Ciani could change air. Reportedly, Celtic is very interested in the French international defender and began negotiations with its representatives. Pushed out by the Girondins during the last winter transfer window, he had been in the viewfinder of Newcastle, Wigan, but the Betis of Lille. The long suspension Henrique had allowed the player to 28 years spent by Lorient, Sedan, Auxerre and Charleroi to find a starting spot late in the season.

  7. Oh what a tangled web we weave, MSM promoting league re construction to save Sevco

How many models of league re-construction will we see in the coming weeks??

SCOTTISH football’s dramatic league reconstruction could see the top flight follow the complex Belgian model.

Express Sport understands the 16-team Belgian Pro League could be used as the blueprint for the top tier of the Scottish game.

The SFA has been involved in discussions with the SPL and SFL chief David Longmuir over restructuring the game along with a potential merger of the league bodies in the wake of the Rangers crisis.

One option on the table is believed to be a version of the complicated Belgian top flight.

The Belgian top tier consists of 16 teams, who face each other home and away before entering into play-off one, play-off two and relegation play-offs.

The top six team would contest play-off one, where they compete for the championship and European places.

The clubs from seventh to 14 would split into two groups of four, where the group winners would battle it out a Europa League play-off.

While the bottom two clubs will be involved in a relegation play-off, facing each other five times.

If a version of this was brought into Scotland it would be for the start of the 2013/14 season.

Another option understood to being discussed by league powerbrokers is three leagues of 14-teams and that would be introduced for the start of this season.

It is understood that option would see Dunfermline, Dundee and Falkirk promoted for the top flight for the forthcoming campaign, while crisis club Rangers would begin life in the second tier of the Scottish game.

  10. IMO the French League is a great source for players: they are normally the ‘finished article’ but less expensive than players from the really big leagues. Additionally, they tend to be good athletes, and just about everyone who comes out of that league can play football too – very few hoofball merchants. this is down to the excellent academy systems they have in place in france – where skills are emphasised from a young age. Additionally, players from this league often have international experience, as many french players who don’t make the France team end up declaring for one of the African nations etc à la Bobo Balde, Momo Sylla, Alex Song, Mohammed Diamé, etc – all of whom grew up in France, and all played for other nations (despite some playing for France at age group level).

The French league is a hunting ground the Club should use more often I believe – their players tend to be relatively physical and this adapts well to the UK game hence why so many of them end up playing in england.

Logistics are too complex to organise in time. Leagues starts in 5 weeks… And counting!

Fixtures to be timetabled, tv schedules, police cover, public transport arrangements, fan unrest to be placated….

Trust me it is not going to happen.

Biggest fixture Sevco can hope for is Sevco V Oldco at Ibrox… I’m sure they will attract hundreds of fans.. Maybe a thousand.

People ask me where’s ma allegiances? Ma daughter’s have been affected by this wi the emails andtextys that they’ve received because they seen somebody in the papers last week at Parkhead butwhat I will say to you is if it wasnae for that guy who’s exposed this charade that’s going on at oorfootball club they’re no longer involved but a bit of silence and I’ll tell ye, I’ll tell ye whit’s happened.Bids were pit in last Thursday and Friday. On Thursday we pit a bid in of 8.7 million to take control. We got a phone call from their lawyer. They rejected it ..

They rejected it and we goat a guy supposed to be an honourable , honest guy who’s looking forinvestment into oor club. He couldnae even make a phone call to bring them in and sit down and seeif these, if his names on the title deeds, then he’s the owner he couldnae sit them down and say giveus your 8.7 to help out club because if I had that I’d say right he’s the man to save oor fitba club. Abit of silence, this’ll last a few minutes and then that’ll be me.He wouldnae get them in and the criticism I got for it showing my loyalties, I would give up 9 in a rowfor this club to be where they should be

So that bid was in, in Friday morning and I spoke to the guys involved and we’ve been working on itfor 2 months, we’ve been gathering information to suss this out because it stinks. Friday morningthey say we’re withdrawing wir offer, we’re stepping away because we’ve been told it’s going to be20, 30 million, listen. So that’s what we were told so we withdraw it Friday morning I get a phone call

I get a phone call Friday morning, I’m heading this consortium and the consortium was tae – listen –if you’re the title deed holder, if your name’s on that we’ll come in and we’ll look to dae business butwe knew what was going on and I got a phone call to meet Charles Green in his office at half pasttwo in the afternoon. In the morning, we’d be working on it for months that Sevco and CompaniesHouse, name was getting changed every other day, to Sevco Scotland to Sevco 5088, to companydirectors changing every day so you couldnae get a trace on it by the Friday morning every Companydirector that was on that list we sent a recorded delivery letter with a bid of 8.7 million. They letterswere received and signed for an hour before I went into that meeting. When I walked into that meeting I was confronted wi Charles Green. His first words to me, you sit onma seat and I’ll sit on your scout’s seat and we’ll see who’s longest in the job …

So I said to him, gloves are off, name your price to walk out at 5 o’clock tonight. I’ll make a phonecall, if you can produce the title deeds and we’re happy with that, we’ll make you a bid once we’veseen every detail, letter of agreement, is there a 30 grand bill to be paid, is there a 50, is there a 100grand bill, is there 30, 40, 50 letters oot there that we’ve got to take on board. He never opened hismouth for the whole time, for the whole time he could have gave me. I said just give me what do

you want for the club. He could have says 100 million he never gave me any answer although I say tohim how much have you spent on the club since you came in, and listen a bit of silence eh?

And he says to me yes, yes if my 5 year old, if there ain’t a deal here to save my fitba club and hesays yes. I says give me the answer and he wrote it down on a bit of paper, and folded it over, now Iknow he’s goat the bid fae us an hoor before that, he opened the sheet of paper and he says wehave spent up to now 8.7 million pounds …

He then goes ahead and makes a statement to me that I’m not going to tell you tonight, but thatstatement made ma decision. If he doesn’t accept that 8.7 then I’m leaving Glasgow Rangers theclub that I love because what he said to me he’ll be hunted for the rest of his days by Rangers fans …

So I’m saying tae Craig Whyte who I believe is still involved here, or Ticketus along wi Charles Green,we don’t know the answers. I sat there and I wondered whit do ye dae, I just got up and walked out.On Sunday we got a phone call from their lawyers to say they’re no accepting the bids and they’reno entertaining is. So I packed ma bags on Monday morning at Murray Park and I just decided I’mgoing to put ma head on the chopping block but I’m doing it because I’m who youse are

What I will say to yea to explain it, we’ve goat 2 assets, we’ve got the stadium and we’ve got MurrayPark because David Murray’s company sold that to the cooperative and leased it back as a car park.Everything’s been sold fae previous regimes, so we’ve goat this and tae put it into simple terms, if Isay to this guy here is that your big hoose over there? Aye I own it, a went we’ll I’ve been told yourent it, right you come into ma house and I’ll show you the title deeds wi ma name, now get tae …oot of ma house. Why is Charles Green no coming oot and just showing us that bit of paper with his name on it, heowns Glasgow Rangers, he owns Murray Park and he is the future for oor club because he’s no. Letme finish … Where do we go for now

Where do we go, where do we go, the team’s staying here

Because I’ve been asked by different factions and I goat emails and phone calls all day long and thesupport’s been brilliant, there’s always the idiots that’s are gonnae through the knife in, but what I’llsay to you people ask me, the press have been asking me, who’s your investors, who’s this, who’sthat, because see when you tell them they scrutinise it you go through I’ll tell you the guys that I wasin wi right, on my grandson’s life,

.. on my grandson’s life they’re out the picture. Because the investors are youse!

Because youse buy youse season books, youse buy yer jerseys, youse buy the pies, the programmes, that’s the investors, the Rangers team, the fans, they run fucking Rangers.

So everybody say where do we go fae here. We don’t go anywhere until we find oot who owns thetitle deeds to this stadium and Murray Park once we’ve goat that we’ll buy them oot, youse will buythem oot. Youse everyone of youse who buy your season books will be owners of your first and thisis your club, naebody, nae individual, disnae matter, the Blue Knights we asked them to come onboard, the consortium, we ask them to come on board and if they’re true Rangers fans we’ll all gettogether and we will force this lot oot because …

… because youse are the boys, ma bid tae Charles Green right now, ma bid to Charles Green rightnow, there’s yer pound back

… and then show us the title deeds, find out the debris that’s went through this club, who’s beentaken oot the back door, because I guarantee ye, everybody that’s puts them tickets, season ticketsthrough this company, through that door is going oot the back door and it’s heading oot, you’renever going to see it.Right but youse done it last season, you seen a guy coming doon there, we all believed this is thedifference, we invested in him and we’re still hurting, but where’s the money. We’ll stick togetherand anybody that criticises us, the whole of Scotland is bringing us down …

… but I will say, this isnae Shefield United. This stadium is world renowned, the history that we’vegot at this club, they cannae, they cannae take this away, we will come back in some form and withthe army of supporters world wide, if we invest, and put wir money aside, and haud ontae it until weopen an account and youse can stick it in and I’ll guarantee everyone youse, you’ll get your moneyback whatever division, whatever we do, you’ll get your money, your debentures that were solddown the river, I’ve goat too, they’re down, but what we’re going tae do, we’re going tae give themback, every one of youse will get your debentures back.

  25. Snake Plissken on

If Charles Green did say he would turn Ibrokes to rubble and dust (which is only a rumour at the moment) rather than sell to Brown and his mob then that is a hell of a statement.

I watched all the rabble rousing earlier and apart from being hilarious it is very telling.

The mood among them is becoming more and more aggressive and that is worrying. They are likely to lash out at Celtic fans so everyone be safe this summer.

If Green had appeared at the door, those 2 or three coppers would not have been able to protect him such was Brown’s language and the atmosphere being created.

In truth it looks like posturing but the most telling thing that came out of that was Brown will not reveal his backers because he claimed the media would dg up dirt on them and “we’ve all done things in life we urny proud of”.

That is not reassuring for them but it is certainly reassuring for us. It would appear that the backer(s) may have something to hide from such a statement otherwise why say it? Could the backer be another in a long line of dodgy characters turning up with promises of silver and gold? It sounds like it. Brown is obviously unaware of the due diligence the Scottish sports media did on Craig Whyte as had they exposed him from the outset this pantomime might not be taking place while thick fans are there agreeing that the media will do them no favours. Now that is true but not in the way they mean – the media will do whatever they have to to tell more fairytales to ra berrz as they have been fed on a staple diet of fairytales instead of porridge for decades.

The war has begun, the battle lines have been drawn and the battle for the corpse’s assets is the next thing on the horizon.

There is no chance they’ll play football this coming season and the padlocks could very well go onto the gates.
