Brown launches bid to buy Rangers’ assets

1612

Former Rangers player, John Brown, spoke to Sky Sports this morning outside Ibrox and launched a takeover bid for the former club’s assets.  Yesterday he resigned as a scout for the company before urging Rangers fans not to renew their season tickets.

In an interview reminiscent of a memorable scene from Blazing Saddles, Brown told Sky:

“If [the fans]invest, we’ll setup a bank account that all the season ticket money can go in there, and we can guarantee that we will buy this club over from this regime because it’s coming back into Rangers hands.

“Gone are the days, of the, the money that we spent.  It’s going to be handled differently this time.  The fans are going to buy it over.  We have the backing from powerful people who are going to invest, but the fans will invest, and they’ll offer Charles Green, if he says he’s got the title deeds in his name, we’ll make an offer, once we see the hidden letters, any deeds that have been done in the past, if there’s any stumbling blocks, where’s Ticketus in all this, we’ll deal with that, once we see the title deeds, of this stadium, that I was proud to play for, in a number of years through nine-in-a-row, and we’re going to get our club back, but we need a bit of honesty from Charles Green.”

Reports that after hearing Brown, Charlie Nicholas is worried for his analyst position with the broadcaster, have not been confirmed.

I wonder who would want to plant a more positive Newco story today via trusted BBC media lackeys to calm a fan rebellion?

[ This seems as good a time as any to share this story.  I once overheard the bold ‘Bomber’ chatting up a woman at the bar in a Merchant City pub. The romance and poetry of his words were unforgettable. He looked into her eyes and told her:

“Every single c**t in this pub is looking at you and wants to go home with you but you’re coming home wi The Bomber”. ]

If SFL1 plan is real, newco will carry the mark of “you didn’t earn it” forever. Product of a rigged system that wants them to succeed.”

  6. These new League plans which seem to be going to be accepted if the BBC is on the money will see this Celtic supporter continue to boycott away games, Rod Petrie’s Hibs it appears IMO should be top of the list, at least Johnston at Killie was upfront.

I can’t speak to what Celtic will do, and I have nothing to offer in terms of suggestions, nothing whatsoever, nothing at all.

I can only speak for myself. And speaking for myself I, personally, will never attend another Scottish football game again.

This is not about Rangers anymore. This is about the kind of footballing environment we are taking part in. If a club can destroy the integrity of the game, cheat for over 20 years, compromise everyone and everything connected with it, tread all over the constitution, go outside football to the courts, if its fans and officials can threaten people and its directors commit acts of criminality (or criminal negligence at the least) and yet the whole of our game can be bent and twisted and taken apart and reformed, solely for their benefit I want no part in it.

I will not pretend that this does not stink. I will not pretend it is not corrupt. And I will not waste my time or my money backing corruption.

The Scottish game will either be in the best health of the last 20 years or more when the new season starts or it will be dead.

You can watch a zombie parade if you want.

See, everything about this is just wrong.

There is no relegation here. The SPL has already voted NewCo out of the league. This is not something which needs to be negotiated on. This is not a relegation by any stretch of the imagination.

Sevco is NOT an SPL club … There is NO relegation to speak of. They have no share. Having first declared it was an SPL board decision, and been confident they could win, the SPL were stunned when clubs took it away from them. They were still confident of a win. When clubs began to declare against it, they cobbled this together, this abominable disgrace.

Even the voting “structure” is bent. 8 SPL clubs must accept it for it to go through. But this is a full scale change to the structure of the league, so why isn’t it an 11-2 vote? An a simple “majority” of SFL clubs is needed … for a structural change of THIS magnitude? Since when?

This is the same story it’s been from the very start, the names of the people involved may get moved around a wee bit here and there but it’s essentially the same story.

Scottish football is faced with a choice the same choice it has always had since the governing bodies could no longer ignore the rangers cheating, the monster had got to big just like Frankenstein in the movie.

The choice of saving the game or destroying it is only being delayed by those whose influence on our game have brought it to this point in the first place.

The question is who is in the bunker with the cabal and who is going to be the one to break the news to Hitler that there are no more reinforcements!! Or more simply put how much influence does Campbell Ogilvie allegedly still have over our game in face of all the opposition that is growing to the corrupt nature of football in Scotland.

The Gravy Train is coming off the tracks and many many people don’t like that one wee bit…

    That’s why we’re Celtic.

  32. Hold on..one minute… the SPL Clubs (in general) were very clear. They would vote NO to the only proposition that has been put there way.

Can OLD Rangers transfer their membership to NEW Rangers?

That is clear and the vote will be made.

Rangers then have to officially apply for SFL membership.

The SPL CANNOT relegate New Rangers as they do not have SFL membership. They cannot relegate Old Rangers as they do not exist to be relegated.

The only option is for the SFL to accept the New Rangers membership and rip up their rulebook and move New Rangers to Division 1.

THIS HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH THE SPL NOW.

Any other suggestion is posturing by the authorities.
