Brown launches bid to buy Rangers’ assets

1612

Former Rangers player, John Brown, spoke to Sky Sports this morning outside Ibrox and launched a takeover bid for the former club’s assets.  Yesterday he resigned as a scout for the company before urging Rangers fans not to renew their season tickets.

In an interview reminiscent of a memorable scene from Blazing Saddles, Brown told Sky:

“If [the fans]invest, we’ll setup a bank account that all the season ticket money can go in there, and we can guarantee that we will buy this club over from this regime because it’s coming back into Rangers hands.

“Gone are the days, of the, the money that we spent.  It’s going to be handled differently this time.  The fans are going to buy it over.  We have the backing from powerful people who are going to invest, but the fans will invest, and they’ll offer Charles Green, if he says he’s got the title deeds in his name, we’ll make an offer, once we see the hidden letters, any deeds that have been done in the past, if there’s any stumbling blocks, where’s Ticketus in all this, we’ll deal with that, once we see the title deeds, of this stadium, that I was proud to play for, in a number of years through nine-in-a-row, and we’re going to get our club back, but we need a bit of honesty from Charles Green.”

Reports that after hearing Brown, Charlie Nicholas is worried for his analyst position with the broadcaster, have not been confirmed.

  1. I just can’t bring myself to post it on here, but the antics of the bigots make me think of the hitler youth anthem,” Tomorrow Belongs to Me “.

They have indeed found their ‘fuhrer’,even better than Leggo, even better than uberbigot Jardine, they have a found a voice in a p*** stained alky.

It would be pathetically funny if it wasn’t for the fact that they are a psychotically violent mob being stoked up minute on minute. They are working themselves into a frenzy, encouraged and promoted.

This is Glasgow 2012,but you’d think it was Munich, circa 1926.

    Disgraceful.

Just wasted 45 mins of my life there watching last nights hate rally from the door step of the club formerly known as Ran*ers!!!

It is apt that John Brown is the front man,,after all he is an Aggressive knuckle dragging,Catholic/Irish hating bigot,,absolutely perfect fit for the job as the Huns High Protector!!

Must admit to being a bit worried because there were serious undertones of violence last night,,not only toward Charles Green but towards us as well,,,nice to see the Police stepping in and trying calm everyone down,,,,,NOT!!!!

    Very true.

As long as their underbelly of hate-filled lunacy is allowed to go unchecked…in fact, encouraged by several quarters, things could get very ugly. Well it already is, and has been for some time. You’re right to point out that an escalation of their moronic permarage is a concern for all sane people in this country, imo.

Meantime, the Scottish government “loses” the crime statistics that would have forced them to confront this very serious issue.

Here we have it then, friends. Crucial changes, changes the game has needed to make for YEARS, being finally offered as a bribe … to help Rangers.

If it goes through, I am done.

This is now bigger than whether that club stands or falls. This is open, blatant, gerrymandering of the entire football structure for ONE TEAM.

Time to end the silence Celtic. THIS is when we speak out.

Now I have been a Tim all my life (bar a secondary school existential crisis that had me following the jags for a couple of seasons) and I must say that the stuff going on at Ibrox over the past year have been as close to what I imagine Heaven would be if I were a believer – jelly and ice-cream on tap.

But, I have just watched the John Brown stuff on youtube posted above and, even as a Tim, I am truly embarrassed and cringing at where this debacle has gone.

    Can this stuff be real?

  16. Should this clown “Leggo” be expecting a visit from the gendarmerie?

“If it becomes known that he [Green] has turned down a decent and honest

offer of hard cash for Rangers from a decent and honest Rangers man, then, as far as the 10,000 who demonstrated outside Ibrox last night is concerned….

    He ain’t seen nothing yet!

For if that has happened – and if Charles Green has snubbed another good bid from a Rangers man for Rangers, he’s a mug if he believes that can be kept secret – all bets are off.

For nobody, no sensible, restrained and law abiding Rangers supporter, will be able to hold back the wilder elements.

Mob rule will be in danger of taking over.

There will be tens of thousands descending on Charles Green. At Ibrox where he works and on the Menzies Hotel where he lurks.

Nobody, not me, or any of the supporters’ groups, will be able to hold back the angry mob. We will try to preach restraint. But it is doubtful if they will listen. For their dander is up. That’s a fact.”

After John Brown’s performance yesterday at Ibrox it’s seems the authorities of Scottish Football don’t even care who owns Orco, they seem to be hell bent on letting them play in the league.

This is not the work of Doncaster, this is the work of the cabal that has always run football in Scotland.

As I said last week the battle continues..

  20. If this plan goes through then we know that we are not playing in a fair league, suited to reinstate a dead club. It means there is no other choice but to leave this corrupt game in Scotland.

  21. Lennon n Mc....Mjallby on

If Sandy Jardine didn’t look an idiot before he certainly does now,the club he is part of has died, all that’s left is a grieving support and a stadium, its not banter from other fans to say the history count has also died with the club, that’s just a fact,in a couple of weeks he should perhaps go to Bradford if their rugby club go into liquidation and ask fans in the town if a new club emerged to play in the Bulls stadium if they could take the Bulls history?

As has been mentioned before, liquidation wouldn’t be such a fearful prospect if you could just take the good bits from a dead football club after dropping all of its liabilities and carrying on as if nothing had happened, the football club inextricably linked itself to its financial affairs when it incorporated in 1899-

Where is the sport in not being able to die?

Where is the sport in nothing valuable being at risk?

Without these two questions, what is the point in having rules or a competition in the first place?

Sandy only need ask the media organisation responsible for sending a hearse to the Holy Ground nearly 20 years ago as to why they did that?

Grow up Sandy, work on your handicap and try to preserve some shred of dignity at your age.

  22. So rather than just follow their own rules and do the right thing, the SFA/SPL/SFL propose changing the whole structure of Scottish football to help a team that doesn’t even exist any more.

The game’s bent, time to go Celtic.

  23. Brown is a Hun bigot ….

All the post revisionist nonsense in the world will not change that

If it walks and quacks like a bigot ….

  24. Well my last words on the subject for what they are worth are that I would love to see the fans manage the Rangers Newco and the man to lead them, I believe is John Brown.

I would love to see this come to pass.

And I bet that Johnathan Watson would welcome it too!

Now who would make a good Rab to Bomber’s Jamsie?

  25. Lloyd George then the British Prime Minister met Adolf Hitler in 1936 and thought the sun shone out his a***! Amazing what some people will make of a first impression…

“There is for the first time since the war a general sense of security. The people are more cheerful. There is a greater sense of general gaiety of spirit throughout the land. It is a happier Germany. I saw it everywhere, and Englishmen I met during my trip and who knew Germany well were very impressed with the change.

One man has accomplished this miracle. He is a born leader of men. A magnetic and dynamic personality with a single-minded purpose, as resolute will and a dauntless heart.”

  26. They will be in division 1 and you, me and any other fan can’t do anything to prevent it.

Scottish Football is corrupt it’s finished and I’m so sad i won’t be able to watch my beloved club anymore.

When will people wake up in this country, when it comes to Huns rules are broken.

Celtic Football Club need out of this country and in to another league or we will be talking about the same corrupt people in this country.

It amazes me our club have to abide by rules by a corrupt organisation which don’t apply the rules themselves, they break them.

  27. BBC Scotland has learned of plans being put in place that would allow Rangers to move directly into Scottish Division One in the coming season.

Rangers FC plc is soon to be liquidated and Charles Green’s consortium are reforming the club.

But Green’s Rangers newco has not gained support to replace the old club in the Scottish Premier League.

And senior Scottish football figures are proposing that Rangers start season 2012-13 in the second tier.

There are also plans for the SPL and Scottish Football League bodies to be merged into a new organisation called ‘The Scottish Professional Football League’ in 12 months’ time.

The main points of the proposals are:

Rangers are to be relegated with immediate effect and replaced in the SPL by Dundee.

Television rights for Rangers matches in Scottish Football League Division One are to be bought by the SPL for £1m.

The SPL and SFL will merge into one body at the start of season 2013-14.

Play-offs between the top two divisions will be introduced in time for the coming season with one team from the top flight and three from the second tier competing for a place in the following season’s SPL.

There will be an increase in the parachute payments made to clubs relegated from the SPL.

Changes will be made to the distribution model for clubs in the top two tiers with teams in the lower leagues earning a similar amount to the current set-up.

A new pyramid system will become effective from season 2014-15 that will allow a potential place in the new league format for a team from either the Highland league or newly-created ‘Lowland League’.

Rangers newco’s acceptance into the Scottish FA would only be approved if they accept responsibility for the football debts and fines incurred by the pervious club along with their waiving of rights to a legal challenge.

It is understood Rangers chief executive Green has been “briefed” by Hibernian chairman Rod Petrie on the plans to gain their approval.

All changes have to be approved by SPL and SFL clubs over the next few days. The plans require the support of eight SPL clubs and a majority of SFL clubs to be passed.

Should the proposals not gain support, it remains possible that Rangers could begin next season in Scottish Division Three, the lowest league in the senior set-up.

Division One clubs Falkirk, Raith Rovers and latterly Morton have voiced their opposition to any plans to place the Rangers newco in the second tier.

With no Rangers currently in the SPL, ‘Club 12’ is listed on the league’s fixtures for season 2012-13 and Dunfermline, who were relegated from the top flight last season, expect to be reinstated.

Dundee, who finished second to promoted Division One champions Ross County last season, have not gone public with their view on who should take the place of Club 12.

    Wait and see what happens.

Doncaster and Regan have been trying to gerrymander this situation from the start. However the clubs have shown integrity by stopping the Newclub straight into the SPL. The first division clubs are making the right noises regarding entry for Newclub into their division. Each time the authorities try to shoehorn them in, clubs make it known this is unacceptable.

The football authorities are culpable but the clubs are leading this now.

We will hear plenty of options, but the clubs will pick one that maintains sporting integrity, in my opinion. I don’t think they(Newclub) will be playing football anywhere next season, they may never play a single game, ever.

Not to make this a bomberfest, but I can recall Danny McGrain telling a story at our supporters club (remember them? Supporters clubs?) that he was doing a sponsored cycle run for charity, lands end to john o grots or something like that. Danny had approached Rangers players for sponsorship (im going back about 10/15 years or so by the way) Anyway he said that he bumped into Brown at and brown listened to his story and then offered to do the cycle run along with him and they did it together. From the best of memory anyway,

Not to say he is a saint or anything like that, maybe im just saying there was worse than him.
