Brozek in Glasgow chess game. Check.

1155

Two years ago I had a memorable journey from one end of Poland to the other, mostly in silent prayer that our man from Poland would slow down, to check out a few footballers, including Wisla Krakow striker, Pawel Brozek, who obliged with a goal.

Pawel has played mostly as a lone striker, he can hold the ball up and bring others into the game.  He’s not a particularly tricky player but he has good positional sense inside the box.  His move to Trabzonspor last year hasn’t worked out well as he has played back up to scoring sensation, Burak Yilmaz, who is averaging better than a goal per game in the league this season.  Brozek’s record at Wisla was comparable to Maciej Zurawski, who he replaced as top striker in the league.

The Polish CQN brigade told me Celtic should move for Pawel and his twin brother before Trabzonspor signed them.  When news leaked that Pawel was a target to replace ex-Rangers player (too soon?) Nikica Jelavic our man in Poland suggested he would pick up a lot of points for Rangers in the SPL.

If he comes to Celtic on a six month loan both parties will have plenty of opportunity to figure out if there is long term fit.  In the meantime, should Pawel arrive we have someone to put pressure on Gary Hooper and Anthony Stokes and the Cheeky Chappie will have to consider his next move (again, too soon?).

On the subject of Jelavic….  Remember in August 2010 when we were told he “effectively went on strike” to engineer his escape from Rapid Vienna after the player declared he wasn’t able to face Aston Villa?  I hear he’s unable to play against Hibs this afternoon.

I will back you all the way with this one re last season, we had it, and threw it away, no excuses especially at Inverness gave me the BOAK. Regarding the cheating by the MIB ( as the Big Man said ) , as we all know it is all part and parcel of the history of this Great Wee (Sectarian ) Country not just the last 3yrs.We are still up against it, even with the high tech backup, been that way since I started mid 50’s, an Bhoy did we suffer then, more so than today, thank God we are slowly moving forward, but as we all know, we have a long way to go, unless they go under,we might then get a place at the Top Table, and there will be no Nail Bags or White Gloves.

Just so as you know, in the games you mention in the winter of last season, Kayal (which is how our mhan spells his name) was also injured. Your post makes it sound like he was being left out for tactical reasons. Not so.

  3. 67Heaven ... I am Neil Lennon..!! Tick Tock !! on

Blantyre Tim ….it’s not a case of having a different view….whatever it took, they were going to get the chance of the CL money to keep them afloat….’they’ all knew about the tax problem 3 years ago ……. THEY were desparate…..if we had beaten Inverness, we would have ‘lost’ another game……they can stick their 3iar….it was achieved dishonestly, and contravened all ‘SPORTING’ ethics …..ALL leagues we have won have been won honestly and with integrity……..

  4. 67Heaven ... I am Neil Lennon..!! Tick Tock !! on

We will never be at Scottish Football’s ‘top table’…..we don’t want to ‘sit’ with them, and they don’t want us there….

  5. Ps. Was horrified to see us play 4 2 4 at Inverness a place where the middle if the park is a battle, Neil had come along leaps and bounds, his 2 subs away to st mirren proves that

He got it badly wrong at inverness

  6. Celtic 1st. Sorry if it meant that way

Of course we had not seen kayal since the very early part of the season

Yes his return from injury came just 4 weeks too late for us :(

Blantyretim….patience it’s coming to them….the fruits of their cheating, particularly over the past 20 years…..they are about to reap what they sow…!!!! Hail Hail

  8. They cheated……and they benefited from the intervention and the collusion of cheats.

The game of football is supposed to be played on a level playing field, of regulation size to an agreed set of rules.

Let’s keep slappin’ those facts into them.

    And, Hell mend them.

  9. My dear,dear,dear,friend.. Blantyre Tim

    Pal.

Ah agree with yer conclusion that

The Celtic Players sold the League…last season.

    But not only LAST SEASON

But, also, the LAST THREE SEASONS.

The Board is/wiz BLAMELESS.. in every single instance.

    BLAMELESS!

During, each of the Last Three seasons.. Celtic had the chance tae WIN the League.. and Those Opportunities were Scorned..

    No by the Board..

    By the.

    Players!

    And Last Season..

Ah happen tae disagree that We Loast the League by enduring the embarrassing defeat in the Highlands..

    Na..

We loast the League, when we failed to Beat the G.A. at Ibrox.

If . Stupid Appearance had Netted that damn Penalty he Missed..

    The G.A. were

    “oot scoot”… o; the Race..

If we had WON that Game…

We wid hiv Hid…THREE POINTS.. they wid hiv hid NONE.

SO…. We could have still Afforded tae be BEATEN… bythe Caly..

    and

    Yes.. Virginia..

We wid hiv STILL WON THE LEAGUE!

Ah wull never Forgive Sammi, fur Missing that PENALTY.

    Again..

We are wance Again…. in wi a Chance tae Win this League..

Wull the Players Blow it Again??

The Board hiv gien Lenny the Players tae dae the joab.

It is No their Fault.. if oor Players

    CRAP OOT..

Like they did.. oan the LAST THREE OCCASIONS.

BT – what idiots we are – PL has been doing a great job – flawless – what have we been thinking all this time?

  11. I don’t disagree that we have been cheated..

it still doesnt hide the fact that we lost the games that really meant something…

  12. RobertTressel

Always room for a GIRFUY signing in any transfer window one would suggest

    ———————————————

What about a cheeky wee bid for Jellylegs?

Rankers are desperately hoping another bidder enters the race to change the stakes .

We could help them with a £3m bid, and alter the stakes …..Down the way !!

Whyte wouldn’t know whether to **** or get off the pan.

When the GREAT MAN was there, he was at the HEAD of the table, so history can be repeated, if we go about it in the right manner, we dont need to be dictated to by anyone we are above that.

  15. Bankiebhoy

Correct. It was Russian roulette for Celtic, and in Inverness, the game went against us. The Bhoys are human; Neil is human. But it wasn’t their fault, at least not completely, that they were in a Russian roulette situation that evening. The two things go hand in hand.

  16. BT et al,

I find myself agreeing with all of you to an extent. As with so much in life, there is no single factor to explain why they managed their 3iar. Many things contributed:

    – cheating (referees)

    – lack of decisive action by the board on getting players in

    – cheating (financial doping)

    – poor managerial appointment

    – cheating (SFA)

    – stupidly dropped points due to young manager and young team

    – cheating

The big problem for me is that our mistakes, non-fatal in isolation, were made catastrophic due to actions outwith our control.

However, this has now gifted us a hungry young manager and team, who look to be learning fast. If/when they go bust, it frees us – and all other senior Scottish clubs – from the shackles of being dragged down to their level. We can better focus on Euro competition – perhaps this year’s Europa League is a glimpse of better things to come.

Sorry, but you are missing the point. If one poor game means we lose the league, it would be all right if Rangers had really been as all-conqueringly magnificent as the mainstream media made out. The truth is they needed Willie Collum to do the needful at Celtic Park versus Rangers, at Tannadice versus Rangers, at Hamilton versus Celtic for it to come to this. The two things are connected. You must see that.

With success for Rangers my visits diminish and with failure for Rangers my visits increase. I’ve been on a fair bit recently. :0)

Thing is, knowing your enemy can be unsettling.

Collectively, they are dreading our leader, Neil Francis Lennon, a Celtic figure who stokes their bitterness and hatred more than any other, leading us to the Championship.

    I believe he will.

In which case some in our society will simply be unable to bear the pain that will cause them.

I fear we will see a return to the threats of last season or worse.

We should never forget what this man has put on the line to manage our great Club.

    ONE NEIL LENNON.

  21. Mountain_Bhoy is Neil Lennon on

celtic_first mate I have seen the problems (and still do) with our formation and obsession with not playing fast through the middle play and an obsession with smoked haddock (copyright Fyfey) winger nonsense. thats why we lost the league. yes the MIBs play their part, but our resources are so huge compared to the rest of the league we have no excuse for not spanking every team in the league.
