Celtic box clever again, and the SFA know it. Aleks Tonev, who has a strong east-European accent and limited English, denies uttering racist comments against Aberdeen. Did he? He might well have, for all I know, but, with only one person contradicting Tonev, the SFA have no idea either.
When this issue first raised its head I don’t think anyone on CQN made a character reference for Aleks, but we concluded this issue was destined to remain unresolved, as there is simply not enough information to consider the matter. The SFA know this and know that the Court of Arbitration for Sport will find in favour of the player if they persist in trying to ban him for 7 games without collaboration.
Don’t let Barry Hearn fool you, it’s the SFA which is unfit for purpose, not the professional clubs or the SPFL.
It was great to see our very own Mouldy67 on the big screens on Wednesday for his Cycling Santa Appeal. He left London yesterday morning before resting up for the night in Birmingham. All going to plan, he’ll reach Glasgow on Monday.
Mouldy (Paul) is running to raise funds and awareness for Neuroblastoma Childrens’ Cancer Alliance in memory of Wee Oscar. It’s an incredible undertaking and a living example of the Celtic spirit brought to life.
You can follow his journey here, if you’re on Twitter, send him a good luck message, I know it will make a difference. More importantly, you keep tabs on his fundraising here.
I don’t get the notion, apparently widely held and reported by The Scotsman today, that Rangers (sic) cannot afford to sack Alloa McCoist (© Jobo). He’s on a contract which the club can continue to pay, while promoting Gordon Durie to first-team duties for little or no extra cash. They may even have a case to curtail their outlays to him. I can’t see how sacking him costs money in the short term, and let’s face it, that’s all this lot need to worry about.
Knowing where the bodies are buried
Super Alloa has seen the current directors, and all previous regimes right back to Murray, operating up close and personal. He knows which cupboards have skeletons lurking, while all of them will be aware of his contract negotiations, and what he has, or has not, been prepared to do for the club. It’s a classic co-dependency situation. You don’t sack the guy who knows what you don’t want revealed.
There is also the small matter of management priorities. Would the captain of the Titanic have sacked the chef for a lousy meal after they’d hit an iceberg?
If you’ve not been involved with the Celtic Foundation before there’s a great opportunity coming up next week. They’re looking for bucketeers ahead of the St Mirren game on Sunday, 14 December, to help raise money for the Christmas Appeal.
One of the beneficiaries of the Christmas Appeal is Glasgow City Mission, who provide emergency accommodation for the homeless, a dedicated Foodbank and an evening drop-in service that feeds those who are impoverished and in need of a proper meal, for, on average, 130 men and women each evening.
Graham Steven of the Mission said, “We are extremely grateful to Celtic FC Foundation and Celtic supporters for their continued generosity.
“Their much-needed financial contributions make the work of Glasgow City Mission possible. In particular, by funding our Older Men’s lunch club, you are providing a safe space for people to come and enjoy lunch and social companionship.
“Loneliness and isolation are significant factors in many of our clients’ lives – you are helping to turn that around, improving lives and strengthening communities – thank you!”
So next week, you can turn up to Celtic Park a wee bit earlier, get to meet hundreds of cheery Celtic fans, get a ticket to the game, and help to feed, shelter and provide companionship for the city’s homeless.
I spent most of the year not doing this kind of work, so I think I need to be there with a bucket next week. You are cordially invited to pick up your own bucket, email cfcfoundation@celticfc.co.uk or call here 0141 551 4291 now, before you forget about it. More info here. We’re lucky to be on the right side of the bucket campaign.
CQN Annual 2015 will be coming off the presses next week, order yours here in time for Christmas. There’s tons more on CQNBookstore.

Seriously think you need to ditch both pints.

you know what I meant :) Its too serious for a friday what with me drinking wine n all but here in Sweden its been that way for ever and when you get used to it makes sense.
———–
I’m working my way through a case of Carling, was cheap in the Tesco. Not drank it in years, it’s so weak think i’d be able to polish off the whole 20 cans and still ride my bicycle
neganon2- Indeed mate, this is a piece of legislation that is totally nonsensical and only undermines ordinary law abiding men and women who like simple things like a glass of wine in the evening or a post match pint.
A fine or penalty points for 51-80mg/100ml is ok by me but a ban?? Utterly ridiculous.
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drunk_driving_law_by_country
A zero limit for drink driving operates in other countries.
In some countries the limit is set at 0.01% which is effectively a zero limit, as they take into account the minimal effect of the incidental intake of alcohol in foods, medicine etc. Cops and other pundits saying a zero limit is not achievable are following some other agenda, because the BT machines and the machines in the police stations can all be calibrated accordingly.
As someone who has been maimed for life by a drunk driver, regardless of any political opportunism, any reduction in the limit is entirely welcome.
Keep drinking – just don’t drive under the influence. If your ability to drive is impaired to the slightest degree then you will be making wrong decisions, whether you are aware of it or not.
Any limit is worthless without enforcement, but that starts with each of us.
Look after your pals over the weekend.
Night all

Weeminger. If we believe a lower level is required then lower the penalties accordingly. No one wants to be charged and the vast majority don’t want to break the law and no one wants to injure anyone. So the punishment should fit the crime.
If as some of you believe this is a deterrent should t it still work?
__________
I actually feel like I’m a constant drink driver arguing against the dd stringents.
I don’t go for a few beers and drive, my main concern is for the working man that will be just over the new limit and lose his livelihood.
Ok, don’t dance with the devil will be the response…I’ve still to see a response on why the bars in our carbuncle building…our parliament, has subsidised bars, if having a drink within measure was outlawed!
Corkcelt
I noticed they changed the law in Ireland the other week re giving a breath and blood test.
No longer can you say you are dizzy, feign being knocked out etc, they can now instruct hospital staff to take your blood.
Big change eh.
HH
Jmccormick you know that’s interesting. Part of my Job is to protect the company I work with and I have had to introduce controls around driving. We didn’t go as far as trackers because it’s not necessary. Having a policy is enough and the rest is up to the individual at their own risk.

Ive woken up in some states over here after falling off my bike on the way home from the pub. got scars to prove it, but if you get caught drunk on a bike over here you can lose your driving license. Dont know if I agree with that though..
Give them a shock if they take blood from us TET, we bleed green/
The very simple answer is: if you drink, don’t drive. No probs.
There are some countries that have a 0% limit. It may come to us too.
Doesn’t mean that you can’t have a swally (Ally) but don’t drive if you have.
EasypeasyCFC
Yep Goldstar. A sensible answer but clearly not in Scotland.

Perfectly calm mi amigo.

Many years a mate came into work with face busted up real bad, he’d gone over the handlebars of a bike while riding home drunk from the pub. Was so funny, probably shouldnt have laughed though
neganon2 Okay , we are both probably unable to expand on this. I was alluding to your comments on liberties , not on DD limits. Interesting to note your comments, have worked for ,and with companies (global multi channel & family owned) for over 30 years. In that time , the restrictions and contractual framework around employees use of vehicles has changed more radically than any other part of my contractual agreement.
Off to bed now, need to drive at 7am, so stopped slugging vino at 9pm……

Martybhoy and how exactly is it going to do that. Listening to the senior rozzer today who was by the way doing the random stop thing with lots of TV cameras etc, he said that 3700 people get caught drink driving a year in Scotland. He didn’t even blush given that’s what’s happening with the current limit. So how does I troduci g a new lower limit help. It’s illogical and silly. Those 3700 will still be out there and we know that those who drnk drive and are involved in accidents are already well over the current limit. It’s just a load of rubbish. As I said earlier if they introduced lower fines etc as part of this then I can live with it but oh no not in Scotland.
Are you saying that alcohol was not a factor in those accidents involving drivers in the 50 to 80mg bracket ?
sipsini

Martybhoy all of the accidents which involved deaths and drink drivers where with drink drivers well over the old limit. So I repeat how is this gonna help?
