Celtic 0-0 Hibernian

1111

Celtic surrendered another two points to fall further behind in the championship race, drawing 0-0 at home against Hibernian.  It was a unorganised looking performance from the home team who gave Graham Stack little to do in the Hibernian goal.

Gary Hooper squandered Celtic’s only gilt-edged chance of the game when, after playing a one-two with Anthony Stokes, he struck the outside of the post with Ki available for the square pass.  Anthony Stokes had earlier tested Stack, who failed to hold the ball but did enough to clear.

When the same teams met on Wednesday James Forrest transformed the game when he drifted inside but he spent most of today’s game adrift on the right wing.  On two occasions he cut inside with purpose, once testing Stack with a blistering shot from 22 yards and later when a 25 yard pile-drive struck the crossbar, but Hibs were content to limit Celtic to such speculative efforts.

Neil Lennon was justified in his criticism of his front pairing of Stokes and Hooper today but Celtic were equally clueless in midfield.  There appeared to be no cohesion and there was certainly not a productive match plan.

Motherwell’s away win in Inverness gives the Lanarkshire side a three point lead, having played a game more, going into next week’s crucial game against Celtic at Fir Park.  Manager-less St Johnstone dropped three points at home this afternoon, leaving them four points behind Celtic in the fight for the last Europa League place.

This is where we are people, scrapping between Motherwell and St Johnstone. Get used to it.

Agree with most of that, not the envy bit though.

The enemy is not the board, jeez, did I just say that, they are failing us, but they are not the enemy.

The enemy are the sfa, the media, the system that allows racisism as a matter of course, I want our board to back Lenny, of course I do, but I would much rather they fought the sfa and the media and the system that allows blatent hate directed towards our club and our manager.

This is about more that football, the establishment team are on their knees, instead of fighting to save them, which they will be in the next week or tow, they attack us, cos they need to hate.

We as a club and support need to unite against them, they are killing us ffs, cos we are Tims, they even attack our manager, plead guilty to attacking our manager and still they let him off with it.

The fight has to be against them.

    what now?

what rules, they come back and we are still being cheated, by whom CPLC or the huns?

Interested in your comments, that Neil may have to change his back room staff.

If I am honest, I had no confidence in our team today, but I have always had faith in Neil , but this afternoon really stretched it.

Dismissing you mates, is a hard thing to do, but , football is a ruthless, unforgiving game.

My personal theory is that much of our difficulties stem back to our pre season planning.

It should have started immediately after the cup final, but , if your assistant manager still hasn’t had his contract sorted in mid July, I don’t see how you you can do that.

My advice is that we should get ourselves to the pending international break, and at that stage, Lenny should take a couple of days holiday, and then , he should sit down with the back room staff (whoever they may be) and treat the rest of the season as a new start.

If by Xmas it still isn’t coming together, Lenny would need us to tell him.

    12/1 – Steve Coppell

    12/1 – Willie Mcstay

    12/1 – Craig Levein

I’d go for Coyle, he is gettable now, I would wager.

  11. We need to get back to a position where the manager is the most important person at the club

DD oftened talked about MON taking “ownership” of the club and being THE man

Today PL is THE man and he carries out DD orders

The only good thing that would come from NL resigning would be that it would force the board into showing what their vision for the club is

However I believe that we will just limp on until even the board realise that they have to change things

Now will be the winter of our discontent

  14. James Forrest is Lennon best post of the year indeed mate. Frankly Celtic in its current state bores the arse off me. I’d rather lick sweat off my own b**** than tolerating the very essence of our great club being dragged through the gutter by Lawell, his cronies who put him there and Desmond in his ivory tower. Poor Neil….damned if he does and damned if he doesn’t. It’s not worth the stress anymore. The Board don’t care, nor the players so why should we??

Inept. Inept. Inept. Inept. Look it up on Wikipedia and see a picture of a smug Peter Lawell holding a biscuit tin standing over a grave where a once proud club used to reside.

Ach im going to my bed im scunnered at what is happening to Celtic and even more surprised how much Celtic fans want to talk about Rangers. Some Celtic fans dont believe we could recruit a good manager so want to continue with Neil Lennon and all the dross that goes with that.I will tell you unfortunately Lennie has lost it the team are not playing for him either they dont understand what he wants or they are fed up with him slagging them in the media whichever it is we will not turn this around.I do not know the answer but following them with blind faith isnt it, that much I do know.If we fail to make changes we will continue to fail what ever happened to the fighting Irish? H.H.

    It is the Players Fault

Ah wullnae Accept anything else as an excuse.

    ——————————————————-

I don’t think you are getting my drift. In no way do I absolve the players. Ki is overweight, doesn’t tackle and won’t track back. Several players shirked tackles today. Despite the necessity of a win there was a tangible absence of urgency throughout. Yet many of these players were integral parts of the side which came from behind to perform very well until Inverness Wednesday.

There is sufficient quality at CP to beat the huns and win the title – last season proved that. So, why are we third?

Last season I could have cried for Lenny – for what he had to put up with in this horrible, backward country we have the misfortune to live in. There is not much I wanted more (and still want), than to see Lenny hold the SPL trophy aloft and give a resounding GIFRUY to the Scottish establishment and a society who despise everything he stands for. I had pictured in my minds eye, how i’d be at Celtic Park on the last day of the season against Motherwell with my family, crying with joy because we’d won against all the odds, in spite of all the bitter, bitter hatred directed against us and Neil, fostered, nurtured and directed by Scottish society – but we had done it, in spite of everything.

Of all the people I want to succeed, it’s Lenny. more so than any other manager in our history. I feel really guilty to say it’s not going to happen. I’m a Celtic supporter first and Lenny fan second. However, I also fear that, should Lenny go, we will end up with a Mark McGhee or similar in his place. Lenny’s continous backing of the board and ergo, his complinace with their failed strategy has diminished my opinion of him. I hate being a distant second (third?) to that mob and at the moment I cant see anything that even remotely suggests that Lenny is going to change that.
