Celtic 0-0 Hibernian

1111

Celtic surrendered another two points to fall further behind in the championship race, drawing 0-0 at home against Hibernian.  It was a unorganised looking performance from the home team who gave Graham Stack little to do in the Hibernian goal.

Gary Hooper squandered Celtic’s only gilt-edged chance of the game when, after playing a one-two with Anthony Stokes, he struck the outside of the post with Ki available for the square pass.  Anthony Stokes had earlier tested Stack, who failed to hold the ball but did enough to clear.

When the same teams met on Wednesday James Forrest transformed the game when he drifted inside but he spent most of today’s game adrift on the right wing.  On two occasions he cut inside with purpose, once testing Stack with a blistering shot from 22 yards and later when a 25 yard pile-drive struck the crossbar, but Hibs were content to limit Celtic to such speculative efforts.

Neil Lennon was justified in his criticism of his front pairing of Stokes and Hooper today but Celtic were equally clueless in midfield.  There appeared to be no cohesion and there was certainly not a productive match plan.

Motherwell’s away win in Inverness gives the Lanarkshire side a three point lead, having played a game more, going into next week’s crucial game against Celtic at Fir Park.  Manager-less St Johnstone dropped three points at home this afternoon, leaving them four points behind Celtic in the fight for the last Europa League place.

This is where we are people, scrapping between Motherwell and St Johnstone. Get used to it.

  2. Slan_Abhaile........BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE on

Is there anyone one out there still willing to back a losing bet? Another hapless performance against a bottom quartile team. I could go on and on about whats wrong but why bother?

We know what needs to happen: Root and Branch change, starting with the manager and CEO.

Let me some things up for you: ‘IF’ we win our game in hand, we ‘MAY’ go second.

  3. Not sure if Charles Lavery is genuine or not, but Paul did a fine job the other day in firing a shot across the boughs of all those who want to pretend that the New Rangers should just take up from where the Old Rangers have left off because it’s for the greater good.

What rot. They have ruined their own club and dragged all of Scottish football down with them: money, money, money. Bleeeuuuch. Hell mend them. They deserve all they get.

The Ayrshire Juniors is too good for Rangers, new and old.

It was John 67 who knew the place that was still open. To be fair to SwanseaBhoy, he had home-made fish curry waiting for him so his needs were not as great as ours.

I do not often travel as often as I used to due to having a young family etc. However I looked around that boat tonight and saw old faces and met friends who go over frequently.

The charlatans at our club should be made to meet with them and explain why the fans’ commitment is not being matched by the club.

These are ordinary working class guys who travel for 18-24 hours to watch Celtic and spend a great deal of money doing so.

My heart went out to them tonight.

Sorry for the rant and I hope your wife has a great time in the company of the Wicklow boys.

cheers. a good trip, with good company and good craic, rudely interupted by 90 minutes of clueless, leaderless and worst of all gutless shambolic attempts to play association football.

    Agree with your thoughts.

I would normally remain in my seat till final whistle, but today, I started to shuffle out, with no confidence of either us scoring or a capitulation by the opposition.

I did hear the whistle, but , I was close to the exit by then.

What worries me most , is, I am not that disappointed.

Normally I go in the huff when we get beat, and it a standing joke amongst my colleagues that if I buy the FT it is because it is the only paper that doesn’t have any football coverage.

Also, even if I was abroad, I would still find a Way to be there on Thursday , but, that urge isn’t there.

  8. Yes Hooper and Stokes were rubbish but what kind of service did they get?

Forrest put in some crosses but they were both outmanned by at least 2 to 1 because of time it takes us to get upfield.

Ki couldn’t make a forward pass if his life depended on it.

Kayal has qualities but passing isn’t one of them.

Ledley can pass and move but to who?Played out of position to accommodate 2 dumplings.

We should replace the clover with stonehenge such is the quality of our movement.

Lennon blaming the players again!Look in the mirror or guys beside you for real culprits.

We are like a pub team with our lack of tactics and team shape.

It was a tongue in cheek comment mate, hence the smiley face. :)

I dont have a problem with people who want to wear one or those who choose not to wear one.

  12. Summi. How are you tday?

Still joining me for breakie on the 28th of December

Agree totally about hooper, a pub team player with no ball control

    Paul67. If you are lurking

    “get used to it”

How do you see the way forward and do you see fans having a say in any changes that need to occur

Or do we just get used to it ??

You have been at the forefront in giving a voice to Celtic fans

Will you be the voice of the majority?

Been obvious for a few years the balance sheet means more than on field success. We’re an embarrassment on the park and change is needed now.

  15. Seanbhoy

    I knew that mate.

But i’ll still wear and a poppy and be a Celtic fan.

It’s not only huns who lost lives fighting in Britains wars.

So now you know what my family looks like, pure magic this teck thing.

I have been trying to cobble together a website for about 6 years, the family refuse to help me, for my own good they tell me, I will struggle on, I can e-mail, usually, haven’t mastered a mobile yet seriously, I can make a call and text, again usually, but give me something that needs fixed, I normally can fix it, does my head in.
