Celtic 0-0 Hibernian

1111

Celtic surrendered another two points to fall further behind in the championship race, drawing 0-0 at home against Hibernian.  It was a unorganised looking performance from the home team who gave Graham Stack little to do in the Hibernian goal.

Gary Hooper squandered Celtic’s only gilt-edged chance of the game when, after playing a one-two with Anthony Stokes, he struck the outside of the post with Ki available for the square pass.  Anthony Stokes had earlier tested Stack, who failed to hold the ball but did enough to clear.

When the same teams met on Wednesday James Forrest transformed the game when he drifted inside but he spent most of today’s game adrift on the right wing.  On two occasions he cut inside with purpose, once testing Stack with a blistering shot from 22 yards and later when a 25 yard pile-drive struck the crossbar, but Hibs were content to limit Celtic to such speculative efforts.

Neil Lennon was justified in his criticism of his front pairing of Stokes and Hooper today but Celtic were equally clueless in midfield.  There appeared to be no cohesion and there was certainly not a productive match plan.

Motherwell’s away win in Inverness gives the Lanarkshire side a three point lead, having played a game more, going into next week’s crucial game against Celtic at Fir Park.  Manager-less St Johnstone dropped three points at home this afternoon, leaving them four points behind Celtic in the fight for the last Europa League place.

This is where we are people, scrapping between Motherwell and St Johnstone. Get used to it.

  1. Slan_Abhaile........BE THE CHANGE YOU WANT TO SEE on

There is a strong argument to say that those who continue to back NL and PL are the ones who are killing this club.

If you want to see change on the park then you need to be that change yourself.

Continually supporting a poor management and executive team will not gain any changes on the park.

When will NL turn it around? Will he suddenly wake up one day and say, “Oh! I have solved it!”?

    No.

We have all seen enough of the NL management era and the PL CEO era.

Be the change you want to see.

    Take action.

Withdraw your support and let them know you are withdrawing your support.

Unless of course you want to see Celtic continue as losers…

Yes that hurts doesn’t it. The truth always does. We are being lead to another also-ran league position by clueless well meaning amateurs.

Yep we’re being subjected to the Delphi Technique for sure!

Okay , I buy that, who do you suggest are the manipulators, who gains from concensus? the usual winners are the ones who want to maintain power and the status quo. That would be our current custodians and The Orcs , are you suggesting they are one and the same?

I defy anyone in this “one country many cultures…my arse” country to tell me that at a certain level they are not all in bed together (wearing their apron of choice) Anyone believing differently is naive in the extreme.

There is a deliberate policy of underinvesting in the Celtic playing squad based on the paradigm of the Celtic PLC Board et al that believes if the Orcs go then we and the rest will go with them. How many times over the last 4 years of transfer windows has it required just ONE quality 4M player to alter the balance of power permanently and the board have sat on their hands-it cant be all coincidence can it?

The result is we get successful managers leaving and under achievers replacing them. NL was caught between a rock and a hard spot because of his loyalty to the club and popularity with the supporters so he took the position when it was offered although probably realising he was out of his depth.

One more 3 pointer loss and he will be gone in January and unless he is replaced with a quality manager and a recognisable budget then the stadium will have at best 20,000 season books for 2012 and declining thereafter. Will that even cover the fixed costs of Celtic PLC?

Until there is a fundamental shift in the paradigm held by the board we are destined to meander along with sporadic success and a half empty stadium.

I don’t think people grasp the fundamental nature of the Orcs and the 2/3 rds of the country who tacitly support them, including the 90%+ of the establishment. They are about medieval feudalism, institutional sectarianism and cultural supremacy of their section of society at the expense of the rest of society…….at any cost.

Do I think our PLC board dine at the same table as the Orcs wearing the same aprons? At a certain level yes I do.

Sitting between Motherwell and St.Johnstone is merely a portent of things to come.

    No never no never.

    We expect better than that.

We expect more of our Board.

    More of our management team.

    Much more from the team.

    And.more from our support.

I still believe we need a senior figure at CP.

We have four in the dugout that have never managed it coached at any level.

Do not know who it should be but it has to happen soon.

The name I would put forward is Roy Aitken.

  4. We can lose a game and recover.

We can draw a game and recover.

We can even lose this league, and recover.

One thing we will never recover from, is if we allow Neil Lennon to go.

Because then they will have won the big prize they so desperately desire.

The bigots, the cheats, the bombs and bullets brigade, the wee wummin who reads the

I cannot understand how or why the team are playing so badly/inconsistently. The same group earned 90 odd points last season so what has changed? Injuries apart what has changed?

I would not invest in January but I would unload as many as possible.

To start next season, I’d like to see a new CEO, more experienced Manager, less loan players, only exceptional freebies and a pretty self evident first 13 players with a pretty much prescribed starting 11.

The interdependency of all clubs in football is a fact of life. It is our misfortune to be interdependent in Scotland.

I was looking at the relationship between debt and titles and had the punt Rangers took in 2007 to build the team that has won the last three titles starting on 2009 not paid off in 2009 they would have had to dismantle the 2009 team or go out of business.

Ironically that might still happen forcing a new dynamic but until it does football in Scotlnad for a Celtic supporter is going to be anything but enjoyable.

    Regrettably, Neil has changed.

We all love Neil but the harsh fact is that a group of despicable people were out to get him and they’ve got him.

Neil’s spirit has been broken. The fire has gone. He reminds me of Jock after the car crash.

    Celtic are amateurish.

They are unprepared physically, psychologically and tactically for individual matches.

Our squad is bloated with ordinary SPL level players whom many Celts still hope to be worldbeaters (Aye Charlie & Mark – I mean you).

I disagree with Paul’s last statement. “Get used to it”

    Auldheid:

I’ve got news for you mate.

Unless your “membership” scheme consists of issuing shares, and enough of them so that it’s the fans who OWN the club and have a GENUINE say in its destiny, then you can count me out because it sounds to me like you are asking people who have given ENOUGH to give MORE to a failed board with a failed plan.

Myself and others do not NEED a piece of paper on the wall to tell us we BELONG. We do not NEED a “membership” to be part of this family. The notion that such a scheme is NECCESSARY if we are to “belong” is elitist and you can stick it where the sun don’t shine.

And if “belonging” in your sense of the word means shutting up when the club I love – and I DO love it no matter WHAT you have deluded yourself to believe – ROTS FROM THE INSIDE then, again COUNT ME OUT.

Any idea you come up with which seeks to take more of the fans money, with nothing in return, no say which matters, no GENUINE power to make changes, is a waste of our time, and choosing to belong to THAT and feeling we belong to Celtic and Celtic belongs to us is not the same thing and it never will be.

I don’t need YOU to clarify my love for this club. Being your mate will not make the experience more real, the hurt more real, the joy more real, and a piece of paper on the wall will not do it and titles will not change it and losing them will not either.

I am angry and I am frustrated and I have had ENOUGH of people telling me I do not love Celtic because I will not blindly follow those who are walking us off a cliff. Loving this club is not a suicide pact, and whilst you want to sit around the boardroom table eating biscuits and drinking tea and talking out issues they could care LESS about, I think it’s getting to the carpark protests stage.

Your idea of a membership scheme might, for some, seem laudible. For me, unless it is about a genuine share of the power, a genuine say in where we go, it is nothing but an elitist notion designed to seperate the supporters into Have’s and Have Not’s, to give official labels to some of those which are thrown around on this forum, that those of us who care and are angry are inferior to those who, in my view, are walking in the land of blind and oblvious to the mess we’re in.

Through all of that, I have NEVER questioned the values of other fans or how much they love our club. For all of it I have NEVER seperated our supporters into categories based on how much money they spend or how often they go to the game.

Yet every time I am on here, I see others question the credentials of their fellow fans, as if we are NOT a broad church with more shades of opinion than the rainbow. As if Celtic does not burn in the hearts of the non-season ticket holders, the stay-at-home fans, those who watch in the pub or those who live on the other side of the world.

We ALL belong. Nothing will take it away from us, certainly not weasel words on the internet.

You accuse me, us, of being selfish, of being motivated only be love of ourselves. Let me tell you, if that was true I really WOULD have wrapped posting on here years ago, I really WOULD have wrapped caring about this club, because more and more it has come to be filled with people who think some of us are less than what they are, elitists who believe their love is greater than ours.
