Celtic and Newco away form

272

Between February and October this year Celtic did not win a league game away from home.  This contributed to the demise last season and losing the opening three away from home has given this season a competitive look it would not otherwise have.

The title will be decided by whoever can get the job done on the road.  Since defeats at Hearts, Newco and Livingston, Celtic have won a remarkable 10 of 11 away games, only a draw at St Mirren spoiled the run.

Our direct title challengers have not won an away league game in over two months, remarkable in its own way – resulting in them squandering a six-point lead, as they now look ominously across the city.  Only three teams in the Premiership have waited longer for a win on the road.

This stuff is not easy.  On the back of those 10 wins, you would think it impossible for Celtic to go more than seven months without an away win (inc. summer), but with just a few elements missing, stubborn defences on their own pitch seem impregnable.

We have five away games left, two of them over the next two weekends.  If we make it 12 wins in 13 at the Plastic Pasta Pitch on 6 March, you will not get a bet on Celtic winning the title.

My point about Hitler being able to do what he liked as long as he restricted it to his own country was not that I thought it was right or wrong.

My point was that under the prevailing conditions at the time, nobody else would have gone to war to stop him.

You keep twisting my words and putting words into my mouth and thoughts into my head. Enough is enough. I am ending this discussion now.

I had mentioned Doaks yesterday it was from Kerrydale St.

The number of kids we have lost in the last 18 months is quite alarming. Will any make it i don’t know even Davie Hays grandson went to Watford. If the young lads are any good i would think they would have a better chance with us rather than Germany or England. What is better is the money ,coaching and facilities.

Good luck to them but we should be looking into what we can do better within our means.IMO

Student Central / Nat Tripe nonsense.

You are wrong regarding the 2001 invasion of Afghanistan — it was legal on a number of levels.

    UN resolution and self defence.

You are wrong on the 2003 invasion of Iraq — it was legal on historical grounds.

There had been a number of UN resolutions since the 1991 war regarding the behaviour of SH against a variety of victims and they were stretched to breaking point.

The 1998 debacle where a new resolution had been requested but vetoed by France and Russia for no other reason than SH owed them money and if he was gone so was their chance of repayment.

If the 2003 invasion was illegal as you claim — where are the sanctions against the US / UK / A.N. Other?

If the 2003 invasion was illegal — why has no-one been arrested?

It is all student / Trot rubbish / teenage Marxist nonsense.

And If you were unaware of his racism because you scrolled by, should you not reconsider the accusation lest it is interpreted that Racism need not be opposed?

  5. Clubs throughout Scotland continually drop and pick up players and they will occasionally pay to sign up a prospect. I have no problem with that. Problem is we now live in brexit britain and so just about every english club from league 1 upwards will be looking north of the boarder for prospects. Outcome is that clubs North of the boarder may struggle to justify expense of thier academy when their best prospects continually leave for penny’s. That has a massive impact on youth football I scotland.

It is true that clubs just like players look after themselves. That does not change the fact that lots of hot prospects leave for money but find excuses as to why they had to leave. I cant be arsed with the stuff they, their agents come out with or not. Those same players were more than happy to accept 8 and 9 years of free footbal training, games and lots perks I.e. games abroad etc.

If players wanna go then no worries but people talk about the lack of a pathways to 1st team football as if was a reason.

I don’t think Celtic will leave Lennoxtown for Barrowfield ,I’m led to believe it’s to be rebuilt with new pitches,Changing rooms etc ,and the community having access to parts of it ,is that right.

A very good point about Brexit, I’m sure we’ve thought about how it can be addressed, but it might be that it’s something we have to live with. I though DD buying into an Irish club was about having a connected club in the EU, but there’s little sign so far of him using it for the benefit of Celtic

If I remember correctly it will be far easier for us to sign young overseas talent than clubs in England from the summer onwards so at least Brexit has brought a benefit we’ll be able to exploit.

  10. It’s not a very nice way of talking about young men, commodities that are there to be traded for profit, but that’s the world we live in these days.

Thanks for posting the photo last night re the sporting arenas, recreational spaces all around our part of the East End of Glasgow. Amazing to see the number of open spaces in the area at a time when that part of Glasgow was heavily industrialised, and with a huge hospital in situ. Greyhound tracks, cycle tracks, football grounds, municipal sports facilities, railways all round the Park, most of it all gone. The bowling green just off the London Road is still there, to be fair.
