“Mind you – that particular referee paid us back big time midweek.”

Sure they always pay us back.

I haven’t read Tracey’s article but it sounds fairle similar to recent articles in the Scottish press. Such articles used to appear frequently over here but have almost disappeared thank God.

What annoys me most is that these articles make the same claims – Catholic schools responsible for promoting and sustaining sectarianism – but do not inform us what it is that Catholic schools are doing to support those claims.

    They can’t.

    Because they don’t.

    Hope you’re well.

Terry Butcher said after the game on telly, that Tansey was done for illegal use of a finger nail..In the studio Wee Gordon Strachen, says to Mark Hateley,If I stuck my finger in your eye would it be sore? Brilliant wee man..I thought he was great yesterday, dont think he will be asked back…and wat he said about gettin two points back every month till the end seems more true now..

  4. Tommy Joad- Gordon Strachan to me is a Celtic legend, like many among the support he has come from a non-Celtic background and has fallen in love with the club and will be a Celtic supporter for the rest of his life, and will fight our corner particularly when it is unfashionable to do so.

He is a very clever and intelligent man, I am proud he is one of “us”.

Compare him with the likes of Walker, Delahunt, Keevins, Duffy, Nicholas etc. who are born into the Celtic family but the lure of the shilling is far more important.

  5. An interesting titbit from yesterday.

    According to my calculations,

The average age of the starting XI at Inverness was……….

    24.1 years.

If you swap Danny Majestic for Chico Muldini and Baddy El Kaddy for Emilio, this figure would be further reduced to………

22.7 years, which, I believe, is truly incredible.

Is this the youngest squad ever assembled in Paradise?

Well said let’s have some rules about keping the grass short and not watering icy or artificial surfaces, the lack of mentioning these issues by those who purport to be journalists is a disgrace imo.

Imagine if it was us resorting to such underhand methods, we’d be denigrated by these same agenda peddlers with outraged gusto.

Talking about Radio Shortbread yesterday. I stuck it on about 25 to five just to hear what their score was.

I knew immediately things were not going to plan as Begg sounded like he was aye ready for greetin’ every time he opened his mouth.

I stuck with it all the way to the lusty round of booing at the end. I also noted there was no rendition of the English national anthem yesterday towards the end of the match … a disappointing show from these part-time Royalists…

  10. I would love for somebody to get on the Clyde football phone in tomorrow to explain why yesterdays red card was correct due to the player not going fir ball but the player and that once his feet are off the ground he no longer is in control.

    Then….

Say now the football chat has been discussed the show can go back to chat of songs of rising, rebels , and politics like phil discussed yesterday

  12. Goldstar 10, agreed.

Even in more exalted company, during CL or World Cup coverage, Strachan’s level of punditry is of the highest calibre.

The anchormen from BBC / ITV hang on his words, he is well respected by all.

As you say, a bona fide Celtic legend.

Who done it,who streached the page..would someone please explain what is doin this and how it can be provented..

I was blaming my Iphone for a while..

  15. My son listened to real radio with me and heard a Orc going off on one about Lenny and how Scottish football need to rid themselves of him!!!

    An absolute rant !!!

Bearing in mind my boy is only 7 he lifted his head from playing his nintendo ds in the car and asked …

Why do so many people hate Neil Lennon daddy?

I just said because some people are small minded son and have been brought up by people with hate in thier hearts…

Oh he said… Do you want a shot of mario carts daddy!

  16. Mr X…..

Billy Dodds also had an interesting contribution. ‘O’Reilly’ (no first name) “is getting too many big games and making too many bad decisions”.

His premise for this arguement….the Tandey decision and one involving a red card for Dunfermline’s Gary Mason a few weeks previously. What ‘wee Doddsy’ forgot to mention was that Mason appealed that decision and it was thrown out. He is currently serving a two game ban.

I was delighted to see the Wee Man playing a big part in the “Legends” game, his enthusiasm that night was unmistakable.

Plus, his contempt for the written and broadcast media is legendary.

I hope to see him around Celtic Park much more.

Aye. It was a nice we bonus.

If things go to plan we should be four points behind them before they kick-off at Kilmarnock next Sunday.

  19. I was having a conversation this week with my uncle about the media witch hunt on the GB.

We both agreed that as Celtic fans we have always been portrayed as the black sheep of Scotland and he suggested that it will all blow over and that when we return to winning title after title the huns and the LL will get fed up and retreat back under the stone that they crawled out of, they are after all only glory hunting fans who revel in their deluded suprematist beliefs.

I had to tell him that the difference now is that the SNP and Police force are making the laws up as they go along and that if the disgraceful offensive part of their new bill goes through then they will have the amunition to keep coming after our support time and again by using this pathetic bill.

Do not be fooled into thinking that it is only the GB that they wish to silence. The fact that they target the GB is the same reason they have always had, that is they just cannot stand seeing and hearing Celtic fans doing what they do best and that is partying in a happy and noisy way. They absolutely hate it and always will.

This is why I am saying to the whole support, get behind the real GB and do not be fooled into thinking they are all just stupid wee bhoys who sing add ons in order to have us disciplined by whoever.

As for the GB, my advice is look at the way Sinn Fein tackled the unionists. For decades the provo’s were reviled as nothing more than terrorists and as such were not entitled to a say in six of the counties of Ulster. When Sinn Fein begun winning support at the elections, the Unionists still refused to speak to them, siting that they could not use the ballot box in one hand and the armalite in the other.

Sinn Fein then disarmed and won even more support through the ballot box and to this day the Unionists still refuse to treat them as equal partners as they do all the photo shoots but the real bigots refuse to deal behind closed doors.

The message is this, keep chipping away at their so called innocent requests to stop singing IRA songs, as just like the unionists they will find other issues with us, however they will finally come to the table and discuss the real issues even though behind the scenes thay will always hate us and everthing we stand for.

Sorry for the long rant and for taking a simplistic view of all the hard work that the nationalist population of six of the counties of Ulster have had to put in just to have equal rights.

  20. To be fair to the Observer journalist, what she actually said was: “Others have blamed the church for keeping Scotland’s schools segregated along faith lines”

She doesn’t argue that schools are to blame, but simply reports that others say so.

Coorslad……let us know what odds you get .

I’d love to see you collect but with home games against Dunfermline and Inverness , and away to Kilmarnock (3-0 up in 60 secs last time they were there), I’m not so certain we’ll be top by New Year.

Being top by the end of the season , I’m a lot more confident about that .

I wonder how that legal action against BBC Scotland is coming along?

The Motherwell-born businessman is a man of his word right enough…

  24. Will Tansey get called out re his comments about playing against Celtic’s 14 men?

I assume he is referring to he fact we used all three subs.

  25. On the day the new St Johnstone manager is spoken to by the police over his reaction to a catalogue of dodgy refereeing decisions involving “them” the Scottish press see only Terry Butchers rant as worthy of reporting – thats why I gave up reading that shoite- I only notice the headlines when dropping my boy off for his paper round and it reminds me never to buy them. Please ignore this advice if you are one of my sons customers though

Tracy McVeigh in the Observer has another stab at tackling Scotland’s Shame. While it is mainly about a young Protestant rangers supporter giving up singing the vile repetoire and how he has been rejected by his own family and even had a death threat at the age of 16, she basically argues that one is as bad as the other, because of Kafflik schools. Things will change when they go. Sectarianism, according to her, is now being tackled head on in Scotland. What world does she occupy?

    ****

I read it differently. Not brilliant or earth-shattering but to the uninformed or relatively disinterested (the vast majority in the UK) this will give a wee insight to the problems our community face. I think it helps a bit to inform those people.

  27. Butchers quotes are extraordinary.

“The referees association are due here on Thursday. They better have a fleet of ambulances on standby”

Clearly his words are tongue in cheek but imagine Neil Lennon highlighted the possibility of violent behaviour towards match officials. It would be grounds for a strike !!

Larsson and Mc Stay, will do,bit of bad weather might help things lol did they get thier pipes sorted out?

By the way,I thought Wanayama looked his most comfortable yesterday.Sure on the ball, didnt drift out of position, and knows when to hoof it or pick a pass, might be the man beside Mulgrew…El Kadorri should be released.Useless.

Sky sports news last night,’Motherwell close the gap on Champions rangers’…love it.when they plan to do these things, what they are goin to say,it means they are hurting..

I was sqealing at the TV yesterday as the results came in,because 1 team beat my goalrush for £450, in the middle of it I stopped suddenly,my wife shouted did they score, because now I was jumping in celebration..I replyed naw.She said ‘wat are happy about’,said back to her the Huns drew 0-0..you had to see her face, she thinks im of my trolley…

Butcher has a lot to say about referees – which is his right. The difference is his comments never draw any reaction from the media. Just like McCoist or Smith before him, even Craig Brown are free to express often ridiculous views that go unchallenged.

When a Celtic manager has anything to say then prepare for the backlash as hysterical nonentities queue up to express their outrage.

The ‘ambulance’ reference is obviously tongue-in-cheek, but if any Celtic employee was making that quip it would be deemed inappropriate with calls for punishment.

    Haha…..never thought about the weather.

I wonder if Whytey has factored in the gas bill for undersoil heating , before telling Coisty that he doesn’t have to sell anyone in January.

That’s if they’ve not had the gas disconnected yet.

  32. The question that needs to be asked is this…

    Why a jaguar?

You have to wonder where that silly man’s reference points stem from. Or could it be he was just making stuff up on the spot?

    Jaguar… Rwoarl.

With it’s long pointy talons of death… Grrrr…

    U

  33. Can’t remember which astute CQN moniker pointed out yesterday, at 0-0 that the foul and subsequent straight red that led to Tansey’s ordering off, would get less of a red, and when and if, Celtic sealed the points, it would have become the pivotal moment in the game.

It culminated in BBC led discussions, on ‘rescinding reds at half time’, or better still a ‘sin bin’ so that the referee could see what he’d missed, or correct the ‘mistakes’ they’d made.

Just like Celtic ‘s last game the BBC ‘dreamed up’ wanting a reversion to the old off side rules (coincidentally?) so that Gary Hooper would have been offside for the winner against Motherwell.

Two win’s for Celtic, and onwards to Wednesday.
