Celtic fans to blame, apparently

902

I see Celtic fans are being blamed for rumours of Newco’s administration by their former manager, Ally McCoist. He could argue that. Alternatively, you could suggest that a business unable to secure bank borrowing, dependent on funding from directors, who will soon be forced to find £11m to make a share offer, has created more than enough financial uncertainty without Celtic fans’ assistance.

McCoist suggested “even the biggest Celtic fans in the country” do not want to see Newco go into administration. Not so sure you are right there, Ally. Personally, I would find it a funny, but it is not going to change anything. It would not lead to relegation and will not change the title race in any way.

The most significant outcome of administration could be forcing control from Dave King. Which would be a source of enormous regret.

You hang in there, Dave.

The CQN Podcast: A Celtic State of Mind (EP28) with former Celtic director Tom Grant

Paul John Dykes and Kevin Graham are joined by Celtic’s ex-director, Tom Grant, who offers a fascinating insight into the running of the club in the 1980s and 1990s.

Tom Grant explains exactly why Celtic refused to complete the Mo Johnston transfer in 1989, and lifts the lid on audacious efforts by Billy McNeill to recruit Peter Beardsley and Steve Bruce.

Tom Grant also dissects his relationship with Fergus McCann, and the impact of the ‘Celts For Change’ movement in overturning the ‘family dynasty’ board in 1994.

    Choon storage?

I get a Carpenter to make me wooden boxes with ventilation slots..Each box holds 100 x7″s. Saw the idea in A San Francisco choon store and thought Oh they’re good… Each box then lives on wooden shelves with lots of ventilation..Heat and humidity are a problem here.

Saw your Dad on Italian tele last week . Wee Item re AC Milan v Celtic in 69 and Milan taking a then world record in gate receipts — @ £135 k ! Game that was played in a snowstorm.

*I was living over here on my first time of residence and working in construction, it was a huge majority Italian, a bit like Scotland was with the Irish back in the day.

There were several AC supporters and they were convinced as was I that we would prevail after the 1st game.

A year or so later I’m back hame living and in the San Siro convinced we were heading for our 2nd Big Cup.

Much was made recently on here about big Billy’s blunder at the shy or throw in as its now called. Like Seville I’ve never seen footage of the 1970 Final but standing at the opposite end of the ground I’m totally convinced that Billy punched the ball over Evan Williams head for the winner,

I’m also convinced that if we had held out in this game we would have won the replay.

Could our “greatest” captain have cost us 2 EC’s and please no comments about his heider against Vojvodina taking us intae the semis against Dujkla.

Would it be possible to have a Cuddy Quick News, designated blog?

It would create a place for the tipsters, hipsters, winners and losers, without boring the rest of us to the knackers yard.

Nothing personal against followers of the Sport of Kings, but reading about the triumphs and travails on an increasingly dailly basis gets a bit tedious. #incoming

*that’s what my 48 year old niece said to me several years ago.

I am now 70 and apart from the aches and pains that come from working for years in construction and related areas as well as “trying” tae pay fitba I don’t feel it, my brain is still so sharp.

However, when I look in the mirror while brushing my teeth in the morning my first reaction is “jeez I thought my da was deid”.

  12. I note all the 70s on here are saying the same thing. Take each day as it comes and enjoy what you have. If you are a believer thank the Good Lord for your length of days. I do and I arise each morning thinking I have another day to do something good. But then I am only 78 years old.

*the only Irish song my da ever sung was the “Old Bog Road” and that’s because his mother was buried down one in Ballyconneely.

There’s a line in it “I take eachh day for what it’s worth and do the best I can”, that’s me now.

  14. All the Golden Oldies are in a philosophical mood today.

For me being 70 is magic particularly when one considers the alternative.

3 European trips to Celtic Park so far this season off to Lanzarote next Saturday for 10 days what’s not to like. about it.

  15. Yep Bada, that is the way OK.

  16. Big Jimmy, belated happy birthday, Henderson’s horses are in form, but sadly I didn’t bet any of his Horses, also I see he has come up here to get married, this afternoon,Bet Bilbo Baggins,it won ,and that’s the only winner to day,but Jimmy keep putting your tips on here.

    HENDERSON HORSES Today.

It appears only ONE poster took any notice of the 4 horses that I put up yesterday ( 3 winners), so obviously most are not bothered so this is the last time I post Hendersons horses….Pity.

Thanks to that poster who took the time and trouble to post back after 3 had won.

Henderson has some races at Kempton where he has TWO Runners in certain races.

Top Jockey Nico De Bonville is riding TWO at WARWICK in 3.00 MR WHIPPED @13/8 and FLY CAMP 2.25 @ 11/1.

Again, like last Saturday this MIGHT be a TIP in itself ? Who knows ?

    KEMPTON

    12.55 CHEF DEOBEAUX @ 6/4 and DUCE DEBARRY ‘ 6/1.

    2.40 DIESE DES BIEFFOS @ 5/1 and WILLIAM HENRY @ 5/1.

    2.05 JOSSES HILL @ 5/1.

    3.45 CHARMING ZEN @ 13/8 and JENKINS @ 3/1.

    So take your choice ?

One last mention for top jockey RICHARD JOHNSON and Trainer PHILIP HOBBS who is riding/runners at WETHERBY…He has very interesting afternoon with 5 decent rides imo ? HOBBS has TWO Runners.

    HH

    ………………………

All kidding aside a very very profitable day today for yours truly, and I hope some of you Bhoys and Ghirls were on some of the WINNERS ?

I Staked £18.00 this morning…and I got £202.00 back…a very good day sitting in the hoose.

    HENDERSON had 4 winners @ 7/1, 7/2, 13/8 , 13/8………those are the best prices that I get with BET365.

Two races however were a bit disappointing as I backed his TWO horses ( one of which won), but I really wanted the other to win to get a “Lucky 15” up…and a £2 Treble.

    Still excellent though.

As I mentioned about Jockey Richard Johnston and HOBBS the trainer at WETHERBY Today…Johnson rode 4 winners, and almost made it 5 but was 2nd in the last race, on Hobbs 2nd runner.

    Still excellent though.

I was only at the kidding about not posting horses just to wind you lot up out of your non fitba coma’s.

I would like to SERIOUSLY thank those on here who posted earlier today that they welcomed my horse racing posts…Thank you Bhoys and Ghirls, and I hope you backed at least some of the 7 winners that I had today.

    Johnson’s horses won @ 11/4, 11/4, 2/1, 6/4 ( I THINK ?…I can’t remember exactly ?).

My BEERS tonight..and maybe tomorrow are now paid for by the Bookies…YAHOO !

Now where are tomorrows race cards ?

    HH

PS NICKY HENDERSON my favourite trainer got Married today somewhere in Scotland…I don’t suppose he got the chance to see any of his 4 winners ?…hopefully he had ANOTHER WINNER Today with his new Bride…I wish them both well.

  18. I nearly forgot…I did NOT back “BIG JIM” which won at Warwick today @ 5/2 FAV….I’M feckin hopeless sometimes.

I only backed Henderson and Hobbs horses, although I also backed a “FORECAST DOUBLE” Which also came up and I got back £40. for that 20 pence double !

    I forgot about that bet.

    HH

  19. We buried my old relation on Thursday, my Uncle Robbie, who was 96. My Dad and I were talking about it yesterday and he says inter alia, well I’m 94 (he’ll be 95 in March: is he the oldest supporter to have been to both Lisbon and Milan?). Well, says I, I’ll be 70 in 2 1/2 years, to which he just shook his head and smiled. He still sees me as wee bhoy, I’m sure.

70 is a holy number. (Whether I’m holy is wholly another matter, of course.) But it would be good to live and contribute to the common good. By the bye, Cathach’s brother (who lurks on here and will be out for my blood, I imagine after reading this) has already reached the mark…

    ……………

Just saw your earlier post a moment ago…so sorry about posting about the nags…next time I will seek your permission first ?

In the interests of consistency, I take it ALL unrelated Celtic posts like…Politics, Sevco, The Media, World and Local Disasters will ALL have SEPARATE THREADS in future…If not why Feckin NOT ?

For those that don’t wish to read about horses or any other “boring topic2……just feckin scroll past…feckin simples !

  21. Young Henderson seems to be doing well at his trial in Bari.

Hopefully he will shine in Italy.

A very good player who was unlucky with his circumstances at Celtic.

Would like to see more young Scots playing overseas.
