CELTIC IN FLETCH TALKS

CELTIC have made contact with free agent Steven Fletcher who has left Sheffield Wednesday at the end of his contract, according to a report.

The 33-year-old striker is on Neil Lennon’s wish list as he strengthens his squad for the bid for the historic tenth successive title.

Initial talks between the champions and Fletcher’s agent have already taken place, insist the Daily Record.

Lennon is an admirer of the former Hibs hitman, but is not prepared to go over budget for the player who is also said to be interesting four Championship clubs.

The Hoops gaffer also has Peterborough United’s 24-goal Ivan Toney and West Ham’s Swiss international Albian Ajeti in his sights while he is ready to allow £2million Vakoun Bayo to go out on loan.

Fletcher remains a possibility and there will be intense negotiations over the next month as Lennon attempts to put his first-team jigsaw together.

However, as a free agent, there are no time restrictions imposed upon the frontman who can mull over offers as he plots his future.

However, as CQN reported, it appears he is keen to link up at Parkhead for what Lennon has described as a “monumental” season.
