Celtic in Group of Champions

918

Celtic join Barcelona, Milan and Ajax in the Champions League’s only group of former champions.

We beat Barcelona and Milan the last time we played each of them, and eliminated Ajax from the same competition last time we met 12 years ago. This is an incredibly difficult group, but it is the job we wanted this time yesterday.

Now we must get ready for the task ahead.  Prepare properly and fear no one.

There will be a ticket scramble, among those who didn’t renew their season tickets………..

I use a PP account, and I think it’s a decent site to place bets.

Having read the tweet, it is unacceptable. However if a PP employee has posted that, then it’s been recognised as being unacceptable by PP, withdrawn and an apology given, I for one will not be closing my account. Both my religious and moral beliefs are that people can make mistakes and be forgiven. I think a big mistake has been made here, but if the proper action has been taken by PP, then I think we move on.

    Off to bed.

  3. Lets forget about Barca. They are very likely to beat every team in the group twice.Miracles accepted,of course. We are in a 3 way fight for second or third place. We can get either with a bit of luck.We need Barca to gub the other two twice, then we have a chance.

Coming out of this group into the Europa would do for me.£20 million in the bank, and then in a cup we can do well inCant wait.

  5. Meanwhile, striker Tony Watt, who famously scored what proved to be the winning goal against Barcelona last season, is set to be sent out on loan. Dundee Utd, Hibs and St Mirren have made enquiries.

    from the telegraph

I think a loan would be good for TW, he is not looking at 1st team football, maybes a spell with another club, playing 90 mins every week will do him the world of good.

Had the pleasure of meeting most of the surviving Lions in Dubai a few years ago when they visited for a few days, and although I’m not big on hero idolisation they were (and are) an amazing crowd of guys and those days are etched in my memory.

Dubai Hoops were fantastic hosts and the work of big Martin and the late great Derek Keegan was incredible.

I had the pleasure of playing Golf with Big Billy and the first thing that struck me was that he wasn’t as big as I had imagined. The next thing I noticed was his limp and he explained that he had had a hip op but was needing a new one. He was fantastic company, and even at his ripe age could still hit a decent ball.

Now I regularly spend time with captains of industry who are all formally educated and capable of using all the latest business gobbeldygook in conversation.

Big Billy was different. He was sincere, genuine and open, and willing to answer the questions that I wanted to ask him, some of which related to some reportedly controversial issues in Celtic history. Billy was honest and a diplomat and he shared some personal thoughts and some regrets in relation to his life in football.

After playing we had a formal event with (from memory) maybe 100-200 attendees. Despite his lack of formal education, his mobility issues and his age, I have never met someone with such natural and obvious leadership characteristics (although wee Bertie was constantly trying to upstage him).

When I was making a quiet getaway later on Billy got up to thank me for the game of golf we had had and told me he’d had a great time. None of this was required or expected and it left it’s mark on me.

Billy McNeil – a giant of a man.

    truth, beauty,

I too felt that Figo and Cruyff showed great professional empathy with Billy.

They would have been together beforehand, reminiscing and would have recognised Billy’s limitations.

Michael Owen had no problems, therefore it wasn’t the balls.

My concern is, why was Billy exposed to the occassion?

Surely those close to him must have known that he would have difficulty in functioning in a disorienting environment.

If any good can come from it, it may be by exposing the cruelty of this disease to millions of viewers will raise the awareness and need for further research.

    Long live the King.

A company that spends so much money on predicting trends and focusing on individual reactions to improve their model, a business who research all their decisions forgot public declarations of the mhans altzheimers problems, worst bit is who is the major shareholder and the fuss that want us to forget tonight. Turkeybhoy – that’s realistic, based on the group we’re in. Bank the group stage money and then a long run in the EL after Christmas would help our club co-efficient as well, possibly helping us in next year’s CL draw!

Found flights that will get me into Barcelona Monday night 9/12 for £70 – will get the ‘Wean’ onto it in the morning.

Will work out whether to go back via you (and take in Cordoba) tomorrow. Have you got hotel contacts (for 2 nights) or do you want me to speak to my Spanish contacts? They have offices in Barcelona – could maybe sort out one for a group of us.
