CELTIC boss Brendan Rodgers has been linked with a £2.5million move for Crystal Palace midfielder Jordon Mutch in the January transfer window.
The 24-year-old Englishman has been frozen out at Selhurt Park by boss Alan Pardew and has made only three appearances for the Premier League club this season.
Rodgers and assistant manager Chris Davies are reported to be admirers of the player who was signed from Queens Park Rangers for £4.75million on a four-year deal in January 2015.
The Hoops gaffer has admitted the champions’ squad needs strengthening in some areas and he was interested in a loan deal with West Brom’s Scotland international James Morrison on the last day of the August window.
The last-gasp move failed to materialise, but Rodgers clearly feels it is still an area that needs bolstering.
Mutch, who has also played for Birmingham City and Cardiff City, doesn’t appear to have a future with the struggling Londoners and may be allowed to leave on a cut-price deal.
