As we reported yesterday, Celtic have been busy buying up land around the periphery of the stadium for many years. The club managed to get the deal to buy land behind the Jock Stein Stand done before the mineral seam running below it was discovered. I hear the excavation rights are estimated to be worth £50m to Celtic, who bought the land for £3m in January 2009 with money which had been earmarked to buy Stephen Fletcher. Hibernian thought the Fletcher deal was done but Celtic pulled out at the last minute when the land deal became available due to an emergency cash requirement at the Council, who needed to build schools to educate children arriving in the city from Eastern Europe.
Back then, when I asked why we weren’t signing Fletcher a senior source at the club told me, “We can only spend that £3m once and we need the land for burger vans and stuff.” Before kick-off, fans currently go off-premises to spend their money, cash that could be going to Celtic. Source added, “We’ll be able to buy a Fletcher every year with the catering income we’ll make from this land deal.”
Made sense at the time, makes more sense now.
That £50m is due to arrive in time to get the Co-op off our case and leave a substantial amount available to deal with what could be the first season we ever face Sevco- keeping them in their place.
Good luck to the Celtic fans based in North America ahead of the Féile on the weekend of 17-19 January. Events are based at The Plough & Stars, Philidelphia, include live music, a tour of the An Gorta Mor Memorial, a live Beyond the Waves broadcast and a Q&A with Celtic Youth Coach, Willie McNabb.

Haven’t seen the game but I am assuming that the Turks are at least as good as some of the SPL dross that big Balde can only get the odd 5 minutes against?
Good run out for the whole squad. 2nd half, the team went off the boil a bit, probably with all the changes, but a decent result overall. Hope Ajax get beat in the other game and we get to play someone new. Great goals from Teemu and Amido btw.
Thanks for the updates, for those who have had a rough day here is a little commedy to brighten it up……….

Well done the hoops Pukki Balde and Biton all had good games mind you it was a good team performance.H.H.
Very professional performance.
Well done Celtic

Probably but this game really was a friendly. No real commitment from either side.

T4, aye very good:-)
Well done to Boerrigter on winning Invisable man of the match award. He was really the only contender.
Outstanding performance from the lads, another final, Pukki and Balde, money well spent, one of the best tandems since, Larsson & Sutton, onwards and upwards, forget the January window this team picks it’s self, any lurking Huns. GIRUY.
So far think this little sunshine trip has done what it was set out to do…
Masterstroke..

Evening all
Didn’t see game as was working but have already seen the goals. Crackers from Pukki and Amido. I know it’s a friendly and all that but I know why I am grinning on my train home like some oafish feline from Cheshire.
Jimbo67 supporting Oscar Knox
Defo would give the Big mhan Amido a run.
We are screaming for a striker and most times he’s on the park for more than 5 mins he scores !!
Like the big ghuy a lot, yeah he’s raw and his touch could be better but that will improve with games.
Reckon he will be a star next year, shining more brightly than the mineral reserves under the stand at Paradise!!
Doc after the game tonight

Good to see the return of Joe Chalmers after a long absence due to injury. Does anyone have news of the progress of other long-term absentees, Filip Twardzik and Markus Fraser?
BBC 2 proves the world is Green marvellous aurora.
Boerrigter has an attitude problem. He hasnt got one imo.

Aye, aw right point made!
:-)

Filip Twardzik has been out for more than a year now. It annoys me that the official club website gives no information on his injury. Marcus Fraser also has a long-term injury, cruciate ligament I think.
BTTS and Celtic Win Yip!
Celtic -1 Yip!
One more goal and it would have been big bucks but you can’t be too greedy. Most importantly, I thought we played well in a open match and had a good tempo about us. Two technically advanced finishes, both with set up and strike. HH
Hey, if he plays for us next season you can all come back and say thanks!
Really enjoyed the game delighted Pukki & Amido scored and apart from goals I thought both they & Biton played well generally. At this stage the only one of the famous five definitely in the dog house is Derk. Thrilled to see my fellow Corkonian Eoghan O’Connell getting his debut. Just one slip up in entire game cost us the goal but I forgive Doc cos he is a great ghuy really.
Has been a great laugh on here today until the politics started. At that point I was looking for my pit helmet to do some mineral digging. Good result tonight to end day. Cannot agree with those who say a friendly does not matter. It matters to me as I want us to improve and this gave NL a chance to play others who have had few chances till now. That apart I always want the bhoys to win.
Think the politics started when the teachers came home from school!
Any link’s to the goals? eh!
H.H.
Sounds like ole’ Dirk Bogarde didnae win over too many hearts and minds the night.
Is it mostly copper in the mineral seams that they found during excavation or is some percentage of it gold ?
That Turkish side is much better than SPL opposition with Boswinga, Zokora and Janko all playing (they have Malouda and a good Brazilian missing).
However, this performance does not mean that Balde shoots up the starting positions chart. It was a friendly game- good performance but no more meaningful than the pre-season friendly defeats which caused so much angst.
Hope it’s Galatasary at the weekend. Do we play Saturday or Sunday?

“Definetely something about big Balde I like”
When I see big Balde, he reminds me of a black you!
If your pigments where a different tinge!
He comes from Senegal……
We looked comfortable for most of the evening.
I was very disappointed iwiththis post:

Good night all.

PS ….and I don`t mean with the spelling of `invisible` !
Maybe we should play all our pre-season frendlies in the middle of the season.
Bazzabhoy
I do see a lot if me in the Big mhan, but ma first touch was better and I can drink more!!!

lurking Huns giruy.
What’s wrong man. Is the F key on your keyboard broken? :)

On Sunday.
BigYinMilan,
Filip Twardzik is still recovering from injury (been through 4 ops) but Marcus Fraser is back in full training and is with the squad in Turkey, so hopefully we’ll see him feature in the next game.

Talking about the aurora borealis
Can any of you remember this song?
The Northern Lights of old Aberdeen means Sweet F… all to me….
That was good fun – ref gave everyone everything – fall over and it was a foul. Wee Adam got in on the act near the end – very funny.
Big Amido – everything about his strike for the goal was good – side foot, great placement and a lot of power. Hope he gets a run in some competitive games so we can see if he actually can trap a bag of cement :-)
Onwards and upwards.
Will the CQN Mineshafters be drafted in to dig up Celtic’s 50 million fortune?
