Celtic long term land dividends

As we reported yesterday, Celtic have been busy buying up land around the periphery of the stadium for many years. The club managed to get the deal to buy land behind the Jock Stein Stand done before the mineral seam running below it was discovered. I hear the excavation rights are estimated to be worth £50m to Celtic, who bought the land for £3m in January 2009 with money which had been earmarked to buy Stephen Fletcher. Hibernian thought the Fletcher deal was done but Celtic pulled out at the last minute when the land deal became available due to an emergency cash requirement at the Council, who needed to build schools to educate children arriving in the city from Eastern Europe.

Back then, when I asked why we weren’t signing Fletcher a senior source at the club told me, “We can only spend that £3m once and we need the land for burger vans and stuff.” Before kick-off, fans currently go off-premises to spend their money, cash that could be going to Celtic. Source added, “We’ll be able to buy a Fletcher every year with the catering income we’ll make from this land deal.”

Made sense at the time, makes more sense now.

That £50m is due to arrive in time to get the Co-op off our case and leave a substantial amount available to deal with what could be the first season we ever face Sevco- keeping them in their place.

    The lack of information upsets me also. Twardzic was establishing himself in the team and then disappeared with injury around September 2012. No news about his progress whatsoever.

    Boerighter. Has applied for a new job he wants to be the new Ghost if Ledley leaves.I liked Big Balde he was knocked about quite a bit by there defence but he kept coming back for more there is a making of a player there.Pukki worked hard and his touches were good and a lovely goal the goal we lost was poor but overall a good work out and a good win.H.H.

    Anyways, Balde is quite hard to fit into a team pattern but he’s obviously got a lot of strengths. Hard to see who would be a good partner for him. I compared him initially to Alan McInally but he’s more of a cross between Rambo & Cillian Sheridan & a dancing on ice celebrity.

     

     

    Pukki showed again that he has good feet and a quick spin into space. One goal does not make his Celtic career but that, plus a good performance, shows why he is worth keeping.

     

     

    I am not sure if I am imagining this but it looked like we introduced the tactical innovation of the “false number 5” position tonight. I saw Scott Brown and Nir Biton covering with Efe at CB more times than I saw VVD there. It looked to me as he was given a lot of freedom to stride through the midfield.

    At CP away teams mostly play with at least nine behind the ball and quite a deep back line, which does not suit our young centre forward. We should play him in away games and let him run at opposition defences.

    Watched on Wiziwig stream. Turned off the sound as it was too far ahead of the commentary.

     

    Picture intermittent in 2nd half. Pop-ups as well. But better than nothing. Thought Haffey, Crerand and Paddy Turner were pick of the bunch.

     

    Shuggy Jr said the pics from Norway were better than the Turkish TV stream.

    For someone with such a low IQ he didn’t do to bad once he left football. He runs one of the largest(if not the) private letting agencies in Liverpool. He owns over 200 houses/flats and is reputed to be worth 10′s of £m’s.

    there are many plonkers with low IQs (fitba players for example) who have made millions and then have advisers assist them in investments. That has absolutely nothing to do with their lack of basic intelligence or for that matter, common sense.
