While I can agree that home entertainment and goals were scarcer this year, it has been a re-building year and we have blooded players who will benefit from the experience. We will still have a lot of rebuilding to do this summer but today is a day for celebration only.
The team that started our first league game was
Gordon
Lustig
Bitton
Simunovic
Tierney
Brown
Ntcham
Forrest
McGregor
Sinclair
Griffiths
We had 5 different players in the team that concluded the season.

Ok,so,bit of a disaster really.
Oh by jings it was,and don’t let anyone tell you otherwise.
The right side of the park was a shambles. JF had no-one to pass to. Dembele was posted missing,Rogic tried but failed. Lustig was nowhere to be seen.

I respectfully disagree. I’ll give you Ajer,I have high hopes for Boyata-but he was so last season.
No great today, same sort of display as wed against Killie, but over the piece a very well deserved title.
Brendan needs to bring a few in if we are going to maintain our position, teams are sussing us out and we are finding it harder and harder to beat them.
CL qualification with these players is not assured imo.

I’m unsure how this year constituted a re-building year? We bought a couple of players in the summer (only one of whom (Ntcham) came in for any decent money) but aside from that the personnel didn’t change a lot. As for the 5 changes to the side, a lot had been enforced through injury: Dembele, Gordon and Boyata have always been 1st team choice this season. Rogic and Ajer are the other two changes and out of them only one was making their breakthrough this season.
If anything this coming season will be a re-building season given that: certain players need moved on (Gamboa, Eric S etc); others have a year left on their contracts (Boyata, Armstrong and Rogic) and will be sold if they do not sign an extension; Dembele will in most likelihood leave; and certain loan players (Roberts, Musonda and Edouard (unless he is signed) will be returning to their parent clubs.
I really hope that we utilise the funds available to us and push on. Given our form (or lack thereof) we are in danger of missing out on the Champions League.
However, I get the sneaking suspicion that we will do what Celtic have done so often and wait to see what others around us do before acting: always reactionary, never innovative.

Another poor home league performance in a season full of poor home league performances. We can’t break down a team who are well organised and defend deep. Our play is too slow and too many side to side passes. On the few occasions we get the ball wide and in behind teams there is no one (or maybe one player at most) in the middle to try to pick out.
League won in a canter playing for the most part in second gear. Too many in a comfort zone, Brown, Tierney, Forrest and McGregor have carried the team over the season. No regular central defensive partnership, no regular striker, continual rotation of players makes for the very disjointed performances this season. Expecting a far better level of performance, and a lot more goals, next season.
Hope Brown is OK for Cup Final, looked a bad knock and he was struggling.

Goes without saying, that won’t do next week. Watching that match , it looked like it only really meant something to one of the teams………..which of course, it did.
