  1. Well done to the Champions… know people have been mixed but I’ve loved this campaign.

    Interesting, if short, close Season.

But we’ll done to Brendan, Broony & the Bhoys.

    KEVJUNGLE @ 3:55 PM,

Nice… you want your Club cute…

How about Celtic this season… super-cute eh!

Champions and deciding second and third…

Well it would have been if Hibs hadn’t…

    You know…

    Hibsed it;)

    SERIOUS!! – Bassa called me a half-caste?

    It’s the 21st Century Fholks:(

    Hail Hail

  2. Hi Bhoys

    Is your nephew injured ?

Cheering on the Sons, by the way Celtic let “wee” Andrew Robertson go for being too “wee” delighted he is doing well but he is still no KT :-)

As for today like many others I prefer Celtic to win especially when they probably cost me any chance of LMS but the league is won over a season maybe the team perform better away from all the moaning face season ticket holders who wrestle with their conscience to be a season ticket holder (that is a wee joke fellow Celts :-)

Roll on next Saturday when the Bhoys will need to get the work clothes back on ….. and don’t you just love Neil Francis …. like me & you he hates the Sevco too :-)

    Happy Days ???

You could argue that success is breeding complacency. You can celebrate and enjoy our successes while simultaneously acknowledging that it has been a poor season in terms of performance and that a lot of work requires to be done to the team and personnel. The two are not mutually exclusive positions to hold.

After all, there is this next season’s champions league to qualify for and next season’s treble to aspire to win. We are aiming for 10-in-a-row and then some, so we have to keep striving for improvement.

  5. my son would have been 34 years old today had he lived, my wife joan has been in bed all day distraught, cant wake her up hh.

    All good thanks.

Tactical, I would doubt it, imo most of the players are not up to breaking down a packed defence, we need a better standard of player, over the course of a season this lot will prevail more often than not, but as I said a few coaches are sussing out how to nulify us, I trust Brendan to sort it.

Take care and look after you brood.

Vaild points, for me though, today is about celebrating Celtic winning the league.

The rest can wait until tomorrow.

  12. to all my friends on this blog, i took joan to parkhead, no not celtic park, on numerous occasions she loved it, from an anglican background, she is now and forever is a tim.hh.

  13. BMCW @ 4.03

My point was not that all the players who replaced the Game 1 starters did so because they were tried and improved the team.

My point was that, due to injuries and other factors, we have had more chopping and changing than we did in the Invincible season, therefore we have had to build and re-build. At the end of last season our complaint was that, the unbeaten run, which was a wonderful achievment, was also a bit of an albatross as it limited opportunities for fringe and younger players as we feared they might disrup the rhythm.

    Well, this year, such disruption was inevitable as Simo could not play in some matches, Dembele and Griffiths and Rogic had long spells out, and team fluidity was affected. We rode out this rough spell and still comfortably won the league, hwich is the 7th in a row where we have heard the message on here- “if we keep playing like this, we will lose this league” {no bets were placed though :-) }

As for your list of 10 asking who has improved this year, I would say Forrest, McGregor & Tierney. Rogic would be aded to that group if he had stayed fit. I would say Gordon , Griff, Dembele & Armstrong are much where they were, leaving only Lustig & Sinclair as clearly going backwards. In Sinky’s case, I would say that process started halfway through the Invincible season and , yet, he still finished as our top League Scorer through this weaker period.

And, of course, we should include N’tcham and Brown in the improvers camp.

    The Hands Can’t hit @4.22

“I’m unsure how this year constituted a re-building year?”

For the reasons given above. We have had more injuries and team changes to cope with as, without an unbeaten record to defend, we chose to experiment with team patterns and positional changes (Ajer in defence, Hendry at RB, and blooded a few youngsters, of whom Odsonne was the major success.

You are right that next season will see a re-build and, if we keep producing players that other teams envy (Dembele, Tierney etc;) then every year will see a re-build compared to last year’s Invincible season, where we lost very little that was important to us.

Have to go now- will catch replies later

A full three hours at home in 2 games without looking remotely like scoring a goal. Not one flash of individual skill or brilliance in 180 minutes. No one prepared to shoot from distance. Putting needles in your eyes might have been preferable to watching the Kilmarnock game, and today was only marginally better.

Maybe someone can help me here, but I don’t see any improvements in areas where we are clearly failing. Ntcham’s free kicks are simply abysmal. Griffiths is relying on past glories for his. Our corners are appallingly poor. One goal from a corner in 60 games this season. We have a 6 foot 5 inches central defender who comes up for every corner. Have we even come remotely close to connecting with him? We consistently lose possession from our own throw ins, and our slow crab like progression enables all our opponents to reorganize their defenses. We have regularly lost goals this season when defenders are posted missing at the back post. If Considine had missed today, Mackay-Stevens was also wide open behind him. Boyata is athletic and quick, but his passing is simply woeful.

Forrest and Sinclair seem incapable of going past their men on the outside to cut it back, almost always going inside to a congested area. Rogic is skillful, but painfully slow and one footed.

What ticks me off is how complacent we are at home. We start every game as if we expect a good outcome will transpire by itself, instead of working to make it happen. Then, when we lose a goal, we miraculously start moving the ball faster. So why don’t we do that from the start?

Regarding the qualifiers, we are dreaming if we think this team is going to negotiate 4 Champions League qualifying rounds without some radical surgery, particularly to the back four.

Lastly, if Aberdeen, Kilmarnock, Motherwell, St. Johnstone and others can so readily prevent us from scoring, why can’t we do the same to the Barcas and PSGs of the world?

Now going to retrieve my tin hat,

    ********

Erm,naw. My question was who had improved. Not,who could mibbe at a push hold their head high at a supporters end of season do.

    ********

I would say Gordon , Griff, Dembele & Armstrong are much where they were, leaving only Lustig & Sinclair as clearly going backwards. **********

I’ll take these examples as individuals.

Gordon-how meant are happy to see a potential replacement signed? How many would have considered Scott Bain for that role? To be happy with his performance this season does you little credit,T. He’s been very poor. And considerably worse than last season.

Griff-I love the guy. But he’s third-choice by our manager. And that’s when he’s fit. Third in a queue behind two guys who are injured more than him, says it all for me.

Dembele-been a great purchase at £500k. How good was he last season? Awe,man. What a find. Yet you’re trying to tell me he’s pretty much the same as last season?

Armstrong-Okay,let’s just do this from stats. He’s pretty much the same as last season too? Show me ONE SINGLE STAT which goes even part-way to backing that. Please,I’d love you to do so.

I agree 100% with your comments , yes we have looked void of fresh ideas in some games especially at home against packed defences but you would have thought we would have a plan b to overcome with all the experience we now have against theses tactics but i don’t see any.

  27. viewfaethewindae on

Not long back from the game, highlight of the day was Eggs Benedick in the Kirky Puffer, daughter had the full breakfast, only complaint was no square sausage, well she is a bit of a traditionalist.

On to more serious things, it really has been a long hard league season, with far too many average performances especially at home. Then again, wee Brendan has us on the verge of a double treble, he gave us an incredible 5-0 win last week against the team currently playing out of Ibrox, back in the 90’s all that wasn’t even the stuff of dreams. On my wish list for next season (same as last) a right back, Centre Back, a Paddy Roberts and the ability to shut a game down in Europe, please no more PSG’s.

Let’s hope for a perfect day next week, Scottish Cup, double treble and a square sausage for breakfast.

All respect but we go to watch Glasgow Celtic at Celtic Park.

Parkhead is the area of Glasgow they reside in.

We are on the world news all the time and the name Celtic needs to be broadcast far and wide.

Aye and it’s gets it right up the Huns in work if they have to hear “there’s been another goal at Celtic Park” rather than “the east end of Glasgow”
