Today we had the Good, the Bad and the Ugly. The Good is self evident and I’m thrilled to bits about it but also realistic enough to realise we were Bad for long periods. I thought earlier in the season we had the Personnel to create a great team, I’m not so sure now, I believe 5 or 6 should be moved on either for profit or cos they are not good enough and new talent is required to give us the team we crave.
The Ugly is very much the massive Police operation surrounding a couple of hundred peaceful football supporters who just planned to walk on the public highway to a football game. It was like Belfast in the sixties. The lunatics are in charge of the asylum in Scotland, worrying times indeed.

Arrests made as Green Brigade protest is broken up
Sometimes you pray for a game to play out like that to focus the team. The galvanising factor that will have in the dressing room is unquantifiable. We have no worries on the park for the rest of the season now.
However
Today marks a line in the sand on two counts.
1.The admission by Calderwood that Scottish Football is a corrupt cabal where integrity vanished years ago proving definitively that Chris Sutton was right all those years ago.
2. The on-going demonization of a considerable section of the Celtic support in general with the Green Brigade as the focal point. This is descending into the scenes from Ireland in the late 60’s .
Whether it is only perceived or not, the complicity or lack of engagement by Celtic PLC has to be addressed.
Peter Lawwell may have a set of social skills and moral values which have seen him rise to become the CEO of the Club. However the lack of spine shown thus far in protecting a considerable section of his income source is negligent at best.
There may be a whole group of Celtic supporters who will carry on watching Celtic regardless of how we are treated with contempt by the governing body of cheats and liars. Some supporters will continue with a shrug and say it has always been that way.
There will be another contingent who will say they watch Celtic for reasons of pleasure and community belonging that has nothing to do with politics or ‘psuedo-Irishness’.
Both of these groups will continue to support Celtic come hell or high water and for that Peter Lawwell should be eternally grateful. None of these Celtic supporters have anything to be ashamed about. They are entitled to hold their views and do and think as they please.
However, there is a considerable number of paying customers who will not stand by and accept what is an affront to their own sense of decency and justice. Now decency of course is subjective. I have no doubt that Peter Lawwell does not share the same concept of what is ‘socially acceptable’ that a large number of Celtic fans do. Conversely, most supporters do not benefit from Lawwell’s privileged position. That does not mean his version of decency is right and theirs is wrong. We pride ourselves on being a broad church apparently. People lead very different lives and experiences so it is very natural to be different.
Maybe the PLC want a certain type of fan. Maybe they think they can afford to narrow the church a wee bit. That would appear to be the case so far. I think it is a tragic route to take. What will Celtic lose in terms of vibrancy and uniqueness in the quest for passive acceptability? One thing is now crystal clear. Celtic supporters are being shafted. Now we are being criminalised. Some have had enough. Celtic PLC do not want to confront this, they continue to operate in a climate where the fans are treated with what is now beyond contempt.
Celtic are showing utter complacency by neglecting a huge part of what makes it tick. What damage is done to Celtic when pictures emerge of baton wielding police thugs charging Celtic fans peacefully demonstrating about unfair policing? How did we get to this and how will this be spun in our media?
You can’t quantify what that means so stick purely to economics, the only thing they understand. How many people can you afford to ostracise for not being in step with corporate vision or strategy and still be viable? How many fans can you lose through sickening them with meek acceptance of corruption on a national scale?
Even if the PLC do not share the same values of these sections of support, it matters not a jot. It would be nice to think that every Celtic supporter sang from the same hymn sheet but that is patently absurd. The PLC do however have a duty to protect the club from loss of revenue caused by unjust external influences. People have started to walk away now and the PLC must take action or shoulder the blame when revenue and competing power recedes. By that time what will have been lost?
The fact that it will be the need for money that leads the PLC to act is the saddest part of all.

We were rescued by individual moments rather than some brilliant strategy and while the coach gets credit for substitutions it was about only thing he got right.
