… one other thing. When Dembele won the penalty and scored he hardly smiled. I think we should forget his lack of celebration to Griffs goal last week. The lad is just very self composed.

Dundalk would be wonderful, but it’s Celtic and we never get it easy.
Given that BATE Borisov and Olympiacos have now been eliminated, do Legia Warsaw move up to the seeded group meaning we can’t face them in the next round? Or is it Dinamo Zagreb that move up?
About time we got a bit of luck in these qualifiers.
LG could’ve saved our nerves if he’d put away one of those chances, but that’s just a fact, not a complaint against him,after all those goals that got us into these games.
Great achievement by BR to get us through to the final qualifier, given the short time he’s had, the injuries and the lack of much-needed signings for the level we’re aspiring to.
And so good to have watched an important, spirited and typically exciting Hoops European home match before the Farce begins in under 65 hours.
Still plenty of time to call it out, Celtic.
Better team won, but how fine are the margins?
Really glad we’re through and guaranteed European football. This team needs strengthened if we are to make any kind of mark beyond these shores, but you can already see the positive effect BR is having on style of play: faster, slicker, more composed.
Hope young Paddy is OK.

Good result and decent performance tonight from the Bhoys, goal conceded apart. Astana really didn’t threaten and we were pretty much in control for duration although us losing Paddy had them lose a wee bit of their fear.
Still, we didn’t create too many clear cut chances but played them well at their own game drawing fouls outside the box and pens in it. Great bit of play by Dembeli and Leigh for second pen and good bravery from KC for first.
Thought the Brendan made a mistake going to 3 at the back when he brought Toure on as I thought defensively we were solid as I have seen us for about a year until that point. Although Astana were always likely to come out a little more towards the end I suppose.
Great result and onwards and upwards.

Lesson.
The Janko / Paddy combo needs refining.
Paddy likes the ball side on and often halfway line , so he can have the opportunity to run at the defender.
Janko was ” crowding him out ” and giving defenders the opportunity to hit him from behind and close him down.
I really don’t agree with Celtic repeatedly not doing all they can to strengthen the squad in advance of these qualifiers.

I’m almost certain Legia move up to take the Olympiacos seeded spot. So should be good news to not have to face them again!
They were without doubt the pishiest (sp?) side we have faced in a long time. Worse than the imps in my opinion.
Craig Gordon made a serious blunder to give them their goal, but thank goodness we had a referee who understood the rules for once and actually gave us the two stonewall penalties that occurred.
What a concept.
As Paul predicted, they fell apart at the end as jet lag took over. Nice one.
No idea why they all looked to shell shocked at the end. Unless it was because they couldn”t get their head round the fact that they got so close in the first place.

We got through by the skin of CG’s teeth. He has become a liability, sorry to have to say. He has gifted quite a few freebies over the last couple of seasons. Especially in European games. So, IMO, it should be thank you for your services to Celtic but “Its time to say Goodbye”.
