  1. ‘This wasn’t easy for Leverkusen’

    Celtic 0-3 Bayer Leverkusen

    Pat Bonner

Former Celtic goalkeeper on BBC Sportsound

“Most people will see the result and think Leverkusen won this very easily – they haven’t. Their goalkeeper kept Celtic out and was the difference along with taking their chances when they came”

    ========================

For once I agree with him.

  2. Possession -55%

    Shots …………18

    On target…….6

    Corners………6

Not a complete disaster against a top team.

Pish. Serial laughing stock in Europe.

    Celtic is in good hands.

Football without corporate guests is nothing.

  4. About as bad as can be expected. Torn apart by a quality team.

The best team we will face this year.

  5. doing my best not to judge the team or manager – the overhaul and the injuries are a MASSIVE factor. Having said that – its the managers job to work with what he’s got and protect the confidence of the team.

Setting up like that tonight against a top quality German team full of pace – its fkn plain stupid!

Stupid becoz we diminish our chance of getting a result and we also Destroy the confidence of the team.

The minute the team starts believing the media and starts doubting the manager – we will crumble.

Overall , I think we have a team in their but we need something else – January is our only hope!

  6. 67 European Cup Winners on

Our Manager is out of his depth

Our set up our covering our defending our positional play are all amateurish

    We cannot defend

But the big worry is we cant attack either

We have scored 1 goal in three games

    We are very poor

  7. That’s how to shoot.

They toyed with us. They could have scored any time they wanted. We only had chances because they allowed us to come at them. Totally outfought, totally outthought.

So Bankier has ‘totally revamped’ a squad that finished statistically dead last in the Europa Group stage last year, losing 3 goals per game, by a squad losing 4 goals a game.

The Huns will be laughing themselves sick tonight.

Anybody who thinks we are a well run Club is deluding himself.

    Had enough. Aff oot.

  8. 0-4 was brutal. Don’t know how we didn’t score at least 2 goals but they didn’t waste a pass all night and their control and tactics was on a different level from us.

Jesus. You really are naive. He picks the team, lays down the tactics etc. For example, when we went 2-0 up in Spain, he made no attempt to shut down the game. He needs to improve.

    ———

    He does yes.

however, what mistakes on the pitch by the defenders were anges fault ? fault for picking them ?

    that is naive.

    …. ………..

Ange is our head coach. The team should be put through defensive drills and formations to respond to situations when the team needs to defend -as in Spain. Please don’t tell me I’m naive when I’m illustrating examples and you haven’t given any. You’re beginning to sound stupid as well as naive. You’re a zealot and will defend all things Celtic even against reasonable, informed criticism but you don’t challenge any points you just respond with sarcasm on most occasions without contributing any meaningful points to the debate. We were beaten tonight by a very good team who were better than us but we were the architects of our own demise. We failed to take chances up front and our defending was slapstick at the back. We need to do better. It’s that simple.

  10. the PLAYERS cant defend, that is where the amauter status comes in. no amount of coaching makes turnbull not brain fart that decison.

  11. The team / squad lack appetite / intelligence / nous and experience.

We have stalwarts phoning it in.

We have experienced players coming in and treating it as a jolly.

We have callow youths who are playing like school children.

SB and NL left a dressing room full of local worthies and bronskis.

AP has found himself in a low quality kindergarten.

He doesn’t have the bandwidth to fix it.

One club golfer dealing with a gale.

  12. Well, overall, I’m feeling better about life.

I’ll get slaughtered for this but I do think Ange changed things up second half and we stopped giving them the freedom of the wings. Could and should have scored 3 or 4 ourselves and if this was leverkusen quick news we’d be shouting about our defensive frailties against weaker opponents. We might even be wondering about the boy on the left wing for celtic who was motm for the hoops by a country mile.

I’ll definitely get it for this but our CBs, after some early nervous passing didn’t do much wrong tonight. Our problems came from exposing them to too much of the wandering full back thing.

I’ve watched the penalty replay, thought it hit big cams chest, not sure. Is what it is and I hope the team take a bit of belief from the chances created against a really good bundesliga side. I’m feeling much better about Pittodrie. Well, maybe a bit better.

  13. I heard Tim Vickery once talk about Bielsa and he said things are fine when the team’s winning and the players buy into it but that only comes from results as players can soon lose faith.

I agree with the comments on here that Ange might not have the players for his system; I agree he’s been unlucky with injuries….

But the point is, he needs to win football matches – and fast. If he doesn’t have the players for his system, tweak the system. We’re sixth in the league and on the verge of repeating last season’s embarrassing European campaign.

He needs to find a formula before the goodwill starts to fade – both in the stands and the dressing room.

  14. Fairhill Bhoy

I don’t want a manager who thinks winning 4-3 or 5-4 is ok.

So you would’ve been calling for Jock Stein’s head after his first season?

  15. I have no doubt the Ange haters will be on to spout their stuff, Ange is a patsy, who IMO if given the tools will do what he says he will, but he won’t be, he will be mutually sacked and replaced with another board patsy, if you don’t believe that just ask Brendan, he bailed out as soon as he could, not before managing to acquire £9 million for the club along with the £100 million he managed to bank for them.

Some of yous really need to open your eyes FFS.

Just to add, we were beaten by a top ten euro team tonight, yet the pish will reign in blaming yer man, I doubt the likes of Pep et all could set these players up and do better.

  16. Not having the suicidal stuff tonight guys. We are a midfield short of being decent here.

Rogic and Turnbull are just not good enough, Ange simply doesn’t have the players.

He must go for midfielders in the next transfer window

  17. All week most of CQN have been writing off tonight, saying Pittodrie is more important. Now that we lost, it’s Ange this and Ange that.

    Make up your minds.

  18. SAINT STIVS on 30TH SEPTEMBER 2021 10:00 PM

True on the Turnbull error but the move came from Ralston losing the ball in the middle of the park and us having no right back. That’s down to the system.

We’re far too open and will get torn apart by decent teams – errors or not.
