  1. Not entirely sure what the jeering of Frimpong was all about. A bit lacking in class if you ask me.

  2. I thought it looked like Turnbull’s toe/studs got stuck in the grass as he positioned for some kinda flick.

If in doubt – put it out, is the long held penalty box motto drilled for when I played RB or ‘sweeper’.

BTW, I live in a country where we don’t do defeat gracefully.

Don’t tell me it’s the same for my club, anaw?

From middle to front last night, among what would be called the front 6, McGregor was the only one who could be remotely described as being able to commit a tackle

    ——-

The fact that this is so true gives me the fear! Because for all his skills CalMac is no tackler!

Rest of your post was spot on too.

Big Wavy – Turnbull for the 1st goal looked like the players when I tried to play FIFA with my son on his Xbox!

  4. Frimpong was classy, composed and diplomatic in his interview

Many could learn from him. Starting with his former manager and some of his former supporters.

  5. JAMESGANG – Spot on. He remains more enthusiastic about Celtic than most of the current players. He actually said it was great to come back “home”.

  6. Can anyone explain the aggressive booing of Frimpong last night ?

A kid who was ridiculed and scapegoated by our recent manager when he had totally lost the plot and was clearly not developing as a player.

Weird mentality of some folk IMO. Unless I am missing something.

Nice to converse again, I suppose you could attribute that quote

“ sad fall from grace “ to many clubs now in Europe ie Ajax, Benfica

    Ac Milan, and many others.

There’s no doubt that unless you’re part of the moneyball top dozen

Oil magnate or Russian oligarch owned clubs then you’ve no chance

of gracing a CL final never mind winning it.

I’ll be reasonably happy if the board back Ange with the funds to get

his own team and we judge him then.

Can anyone explain the aggressive booing of Frimpong last night ?

    ———

    I’d suggest three factors;

    1) the increase in occasional attendees at European nights

    2) the increasing gracelessness of the support and most relevantly

    3) Lennon badmouthing the boy in the media beforehand.

  9. Over thew past 20 years I’ve seen better sides than Bayer Leverkusen visits CP, and lose. They are a good side but certainly no Bayern Munich.

The first 120 seconds of the game last night pretty much sums up Celtic under Ange. I’ve seen it described as Playstation football.

First goal was a personal calamity for Turnbull and the second found Ralston in the so-called inverted position. Penalty, and it’s game over after 57 minutes.

MON, WGS, and Lenny (Mk1) knew how to set up a team against superior opposition. Ange either doesn’t know how to or doesn’t want to. If the forward thrusts don’t result in goals, as happened last night, then the end result is 100% predictable. We lose the match.

I think the more astute of the support would acknowledge a world of difference between Tierney and Frimpong who were basically driven to the airport before the buying club changed their minds, and the likes of Edouard and Christie who stunk out the place the whole of last season.

  11. Why will the next window be any different from the last one?

Allegedly Ange identified and signed one player of the 12.

What will be different in the next window?

Why are Shaw, Scales and Urhoghide (sp) on the bench yet never get game time?

Unless there is a massive wind of change, and soon, I don’t hold out much hope for the future.

    c’mon the celts…….

    Said as much last night.

Would suggest it was likely the same people who booed the Celtic Team off at half time and full time, and who were hurling abuse at some of our younger players during the game.

  15. One difference between us and the huns…

We tend to think our shit don’t stink.

They know theirs does – and they really love the smell.

  16. Philbhoy – IF Ange is still in charge come January, then I would hope/expect to see at least a couple of players come in from Japan who he has identified and prioritized. That is the market he knows and he does not need to listen to our scouts.

McCarthy is this years Shane Duffy. FIsh out of water. At least Duffy was only a loan.

McCarthy has four years of big wages to collect.

There were loads on here last night doing the same from the comfort of their own living rooms.

    :-(

  18. I was at first bemused by the booing of Frimpong last night. (I thought it might have been the same as that meted out to Henrik i.e. half-jokingly.) That it persisted throughout the game, whenever he was on the ball, sickened me. Tbh, I was also saddened by some of the songbook.

The booing of the KoK was tongue in cheek and everyone in the stadium at the time knew it was tongue in cheek.

  20. I would hazard a guess that the re-emergence of the republican songbook is directly linked to the massive increase in the visibility of staunch loyalism on the streets – the marches, the protests, the riots, the vandalism, the grafitti etc.

Our dafties think they have to respond to it.

    I agree.

An absolute disregard for and disconnect to what’s happening on the pitch; 3-0 down to a superior opponent but “The IRA Will Set You Free”.

There are some on here though who complained when the GB were banned for one of their indiscretions that it ruined their matchday experience.

  22. Ernie Lynch – I will take your word for it. I was watching it on TV while here in Spain and we were cringing as the commentators mentioned it.

    You mean Tierney and Frimpong?

Obviously no one ever expected either were ever going to be here for a testimonial.

My point is that, while it would be a stretch to say they were sold against their will, there was no way they were staying when those bids were received.

  25. Booing Frimpong

” because he used to play for Celtic” ….

    seriously

When Jeremie came to take a throw in front of FS1 at corner flag at the restart of second half. The majority in our section clapped him…. unfortunately the moron minority booing drowns out clapping.

It’s the same warped logic that would see Kenny Miller booed when playing against us….

but not the other 10 Huns who had never put in a shift for the Hoops.

If we are booing players because they “used to play for us..”

Can I suggest we tart to boooo Turnbull.. 😀

    ———

My recollection from having been at the game was that the reaction to KoK scoring against Celtic was initially one of shock and that some clowns booed.

This was drowned out by applause, fuelled by KoK’s dignified and restrained response to his late goal which sealed his team’s 3-1 win.

  27. SQUIRE DANAHER on 1ST OCTOBER 2021 10:19 AM

The problem with the song book is that the support as a whole have abrogated the choice of songs to a small group.

It’s not like the GB have ever had to drown out other songs. Before they were around the place was like a morgue and it had been like that for a few seasons.

You maybe want to reflect on why it was like that.

  28. SQUIRE DANAHER on 1ST OCTOBER 2021 10:27 AM

Yeah Celtic fans were shocked he managed to score. Not like him to score goals after all.

  29. Tierney and Frimpong moved to better teams, for much bigger money and more importantly, to much better leagues.

They are professionals who do this for a living and wanted to expand their careers.

Unlike some of the wantaways, they never agitated for a move, gave their best for the club and would’ve continued to do so had those bids not come in…..

I’ve no hard feelings and I thought the booing was out of order.

  30. Henrik got booed at Celtic Park as tongue in cheek, he was the pantomime villain .

    It was funny

We sang “Bobo’s going to get you”..

    in the same vein,

    we laughed ,

it was an ‘in joke’ , which we knew Henrik would understand,

he would know we were joking , after all we lovedl him.

Unfortunately the humour did not translate.

    Henrik thought it was serious.

He said afterwards , he was surprised, and a little shocked.

Irish / Scottish humour is not always understood in England…

… unlikely a Swede would get the nuance.

Booing the Celtic players is an even bigger disgrace. If you can’t support the team then gtf.

I hope to see Scales at left back against the Dons. He’ll add a bit more physicality. Surely we’ll also have only either Rogic or Turnbull.
