No idea – but it’s a bit of a stretch to stick him and Ang in the same box

Our man is just not reacting to what’s going on in front of him

Im not bothered about losing tonight

The only show in town is the league

and the 6 points are recoverable

but if we do not win at Aberdeen and the Huns do at home

We have a mountain to climb in our slippers

    Worried – yep

  2. Anyone still believe any of that Ange ball shite?

No mark board and a no mark manager.

    A disgrace.

BTW full backs cutting inside is a tactic. Really?

Hopefully the rumour that he’ll be gone tomorrow is true.

In times past a 4-0 home defeat in any circumstances would be regarded as a scandal, but such has been the expectation management efforts of the PLC there are swathes of people on here and elsewhere talking up ‘the positives’. Fascinating to observe.

  4. The result certainly doesn’t ease the pressure on Ange but for a lot of fans, tonight was a free hit. That’s not the case on Sunday. The pressure on Sunday is absolutely huge.

Mountain in slippers is right. If he sticks with Rogic and Turnbull he’s writing his own death warrant. Diminishing returns.

Putting himself under immense pressure very early. Aberdeen are crap, but our run of results is diabolical. At the risk if offending BSR by not being blindly optimistic, I see a 1-1.

  6. I said a couple of days ago it’s either Rogic or Turnbull and either Jota or Abada.

2 places needing filled with steel and heart. There is enough guile on the park.

  7. Yep, I am happy to believe in our Manager

He knows our current limitations but came out swinging both halves, trying to inflict some damage. Almost worked, we had big chances in the game. Not too disimilar to AZ match

Midfield has no legs, Rogic is a 20 minute cameo player, passenger in a high tempo game like tonight but until January we need to find a short term solution.

Rather we had a go and got pumped than the dross served up under Lennon last 2 seasons.

GB seem to be super glued to the pages of the old

bygone songs that had lots of relevance in the

pre the Good Friday Peace Agreement days.

Does hee haw for the team.

So who do the bygone songs influence/impress?

Those who are singing the songs egos?

    Jota? Liel? Kyogo? Anybody?

Is it denial because you should’ve sacked the PLC

    then bottled it as usual?

    What’s it all about Alfie?

  9. To quote Pink Floyd:

“ Now I’ve got that feeling once again

I can’t explain you would not understand

This is not how I am

    I have become comfortably numb.”

  10. Tonight should spell the end for Rogic and Turnbull in the same midfield. If Ange does it again on Sunday then on his head be it.

They’re a luxury partnership for bottom half sides at Celtic Park. If Ange doesn’t change this then he’ll get sacked at some point and he’ll thoroughly deserve it.

BTW I watched the Huns tonight very rarely was there not at least 7 of them behind the ball

They teach you this before you even start working on your badge

Yet we rarely have 5 behind the ball

Its this naive attitude the scares me

    67ECW

    —————————————————————-

I have never enjoyed a Celtic team playing like Huns. Give him the tools and I think Ange will deliver a Celtic side that will entertain.

    Might not happen tomorrow though

  12. Five defeats in eight games admittedly includes the quality of La Liga and the Bundesliga, a sound reason why £72.00 on top of your Celtic ST isn’t for everyone, in these terrible times, some experts prefer fixed odds coupons with correct score defeats?

If your system or philosophy doesn’t work against SPL clubs its hardly likely to ruffle the feathers, of classy Euro sides, so no surprises any Celtic side needs to put the ball in the pokey, and tonight we didn’t. Surprise was that Kyogo and Calmac made it in time, for more important winnable games.

Nobody knows whats happening at Celtic most thought we’d bottomed out by losing the ten, here we are 12 new players and onto CEO 3. It’s the same coaching staff ‘miking up’ for the camera’s means not a lot now, his ‘system’ doesn’t work, he looks shell shocked ( Body Language Experts) and he’s never even been in Aberdeen.

Rogic and Turnbull ( is he ok?) isn’t a midfield at any level, never mind with a sieve and now ‘inverted’ absentee full backs who would have been as well playing on the Leverkusen pitch, on Celtic Park time. MacGregor was better at DM, but was run off his feet by sheer turf acreage and firefighting. Kyogo a sight for sore eyes, but he did what eight out of ten strikers do and hit the keeper. Jota was excellent, but the same couldn’t be said of Abada who looked poor. Montgomery and Ralston were torn a new one, ironically with their old manager sat in the TV studio talking about naivety?

There may be trouble ahead, some players are visibly burning out chasing their tails after eight games.

    M.O.M Jota

    p.s. McCarthy was borderline funny.

  13. £500K gifted to BL.

Who needs it when you have sold £15mill more than you bought.

JF running past AM as is he was towing a caravan.

GB singing songs for themselves and not the team.

Bunch of useless numpties wallowing in physical force republicanism.

The board reaping what they sow.

I wonder if the Irish Raj was watching?

    Yet still they clap.

  14. Don’t want to go overboard – Leverkusen are second in Bundesliga so clearly no mugs.

While (as I’ve said repeatedly) Ange wasn’t my first, second or third choice, I’m not yet at the stage of calling for sackings, but he does need to start reacting to the situation instead of sticking to his “philosophy” and “trusting the process”.

The gap between the midfield and defence is huge – CalMac is covering the whole of the park because Rogic and Turnbull don’t have the legs to play the quasi-8/10 roles he wants them to play. The inverted full backs should compensate by creating a line of 3 (with Callum) in front of the centre-halves and bursting wide when needed but don’t.

In our past 3 games we’ve lost 4 goals to the same move – CM to left winger who crosses to the forward, who we haven’t marked properly, who scored. The first goal tonight was unlucky to an extent – Turnbull WTAF???!!! – but our defensive set up was poor – we’re not organised and our defenders don’t “smell the danger”. Abada doesn’t track back well enough on the right hand side.

He’s got to tighten things up – full backs playing as full backs, replace Turnbull and Rogic with runners – McCarthy and Shaw either side of CalMac, Shaw being told to cover the right hand side.

  15. We’ve 6 games in October – they’re all must wins if we want European football after Christmas and mount a credible league challenge.

It’s a defining month coming up for our season and Ange’s future.

  16. Pushing the full backs into midfield when in possession at that level is a busted flush. It will simply never work with personnel that is simply not good enough to implement such a system. The first goal was a calamitous mistake but the second was a direct result of a deeply flawed tactical system.

The wider point is the ongoing deterioration in our European standing now over the best part of a decade. We are a joke, a soft touch, easy to play against and easy to score against and everyone knows it. Our leadership has failed and is not fit for purpose.

We are not in a good place.

  17. I would say that if we lose at Pittodrie Ange is a dead man walking. Too many body blows in quick succession.

When did a Celtic manager ever get time to rebuild?

    ———

Forget the league. Not a chance.

  19. We were never winning our first two games in the Europa

We have 9 winnable games in a row. After that we’re in a position to judge where we are

  20. SPIDEY101 on 30TH SEPTEMBER 2021 11:02 PM

For one reason or another, it would seem he really doesn’t fancy Shaw.

I can’t say I know much about him but he simply can’t play Rogic and Turnbull. As somebody said, it’ll cost Ange his job eventually and it’d be hard to have sympathy.

  21. Best we can hope for is a third place in the group stages of the second rank Euro competition — let that sink in for those that still want to clap.

  22. Losing at Pittodrie is unthinkable. Hell, drawing at Pittodrie is unthinkable. It’s a massive game. It’s a must win.

  23. I remember after disappointing CL defeats (either in the group or qualifying) and the general feeling was “never mind, the Europa League is more our level”.

Are we at the stage where we say “never mind, the Europa Conference is more our level”?

  24. S101 @ 11.02

Putting JMcC into the MF as a runner / B2B / all action MF.

I think not — he is too busy writing postcards to all his past it EPL pals saying wishing you were here.

He is not settling in very well at the moment and I fear his next move will be to the ME / China / Rovers.

I may have to pay out on a bet …

To the Squirrel King / Stx2 of all people.

  25. When I seen the fixtures for the group, I was disappointed to see us travelling to Spain first, because I didn’t see us laying a glove on Leverkusen and wanted some early points on the board.

Being what the fixtures where, I’m not in the least surprised we have no points at this stage although 0-4 at home hurts.

We’ve a double header now that we’ll need 6 points in to maintain any chance of the last 32. We’ll need 4 points to see us into the conference.

I only saw snippets of pre-season and only really picked Shaw as the alternatives are Soro or Bitton. You’re right though, Ange clearly isn’t a fan.

Hugely agree on not playing Rogic and Turnbull together – they don’t have the legs, stamina or defensive discipline needed to have them both in the team.

I know some say he doesn’t have a Plan B – looking back at his career, he did change how Australia played, with three at the back, 2 holding midfielders, wing backs, 2 wingers/no 10s and a front man. He might be best off trying that, and playing something like:

    Hart

    CCV Starfelt Scales

    Ralston McCarthy CalMac Bolingoli

    Abada Kyogo Jota

  27. As good as Rogic was under Rodgers – I don’t for a second believe Rodgers would have played two ‘Rogics’ in his midfield.

Ange clearly has to rotate between the Rogic and Turnbull. If he doesn’t then he’ll be clearing his desk soon.

Are we at the stage where we say “never mind, the Europa Conference is more our level”?

TBH i wouldn’t even say that!

  29. Just in from the game. I have to agree that our manager cannot persist with Turnbull and Rogic. Turnbull in particular has gone backwards at a rate of knots. Is there any other midfielder with some pace?

  30. SPIDEY101

The trouble with that team is that it includes 4 lumps of wood, Starfelt, Ralston, McCarthy and Bolingoli. They either have zero pace or zero positional ability or both. 4 duffers in one team will not lead to success, methinks.

“We have 9 winnable games in a row.”

Seems a tad optimistic, mate. Our last 9 have been WLLWLLWDL. So 3 out of 9, and we have to go to Budapest, Pittodrie, Fir Park and Easter Road. Where are we going to get a defence for these games?

  31. Is Ange just another dud?…this was the comment from a good tim at work today. I defended Ange stoutly but after tonight!.
