  1. Ange must go.

    Getst Johnson mgr.

    Ange is a bullshitter.

Total dud. Sack him. It might be too late for this season already. I’d do a better job managing those players. How? Rogic turnbull, McCarthy, etc, all the no mark 3/10 performers, I’d dump them. Id get men who want to play for celtic and the fans. Ange must go. He’s a dud.

  2. David Moyes’s West Ham are looking like a decent bet for the EL. A good solid team that have developed well over time under a coach who the fans almost to a man didn’t want. Top of their group after two games, even though they treated key players tonight

Leicester City didn’t fare so well tonight. Sitting bottom of their group probably doesn’t bring the same sort of pressure as Moyes would have been under though. Mid table in the league and more Euro failure.

Our recent conquerers and blueprint for success

Fc Midgieland also sit bottom of their Europa league group but top of their domestic league.

As Jimmy Greaves (RIP) would say, it’s a funny old game

  3. Watched the Postecoglou post game interview. Same old, same old. We may be approaching our own, “The caravan has left but the dogs are still barking” moment.

Don’t know if I’m in the minority, but I thought we PLAYED pretty well. Sure we missed chances, their keeper made some fabulous saves, as did Joe Hart, we contributed to our own downfall.

But still our football was good.

Calum and Kyogo getting injury free game time was an added bonus.

We should be back to scudding teams starting this weekend.

    ===============

Agree with most of that – but were good only for some periods of the game – first 20-odd minutes were very good, and a couple of shorter periods in the second half.

The glass jaw resurfaced after Turnbull’s inexplicable error, but we did start the second half well.

The penalty was at the far end from me, so no idea whether it was or not? That killed the game absolutely – and periods of possession after that were probably more down to the Germans taking the foot off the gass.

Their keeper was fabulous – some incredible saves that contributed to the final score being such a sore one.

Work in progress, some players coming back in the next few weeks and agreed with much of Ange’s post-match comments.

Hopefully a win at Aberdeen and no Celtic players injured during the international break.

As for booing Celtic off the park at half-time, or at the full-time whistle? Had my say on that before. Faithfull through and through my arse. If you want to boo the Celtic team and players at home – get another team to follow – thier fans will welcome you with open arms.

    “Seems a tad optimistic, mate”

Not really, mate. Every one of those games is winnable, mate.

Anyway, mate, what’s wrong with being optimistic about our prospects in these games. You should give it ago, mate

  6. Here’s something to think about.

During the YNWA before the game I never saw one scarf being held up in the directors box/heated seats in the main stand.

I remember when Celtic supporters sat there.

    Perhaps that’s a problem.

Maybe why we ended up with a naive, idealist patsy like Ange.

  7. Been avoiding here since the stumble last Sunday…catching up…awe mhan

Shocking and saddening news….only personally met Garry a few times, briefly, at the Hoots. Impression always was of a genuine, open and honest soul whose love of family, Celtic and music were constant. Last month we met, he had a twinkle in his eye and a beaming smile and was so proud that his son Ryan was there.

    Rest in Peace Garry Duncan

Watched the Postecoglou post game interview. Same old, same old. We may be approaching our own, “The caravan has left but the dogs are still barking” moment.

We’ve reached that moment when some of our fans can’t wait to jump on anything our manager says post match.

    Same old same old

  10. Our United draw was not as bad as the Livi performance and tonight was not as bad as United, despite the heavy scoreline.

Calmac, Kyoto, Jota and Hart were magnificent. The rest were limited but tried hard and Turnbull, Rogic and Monty had off nights.

If we had played as well in our two previous games we would have had 6 points but we are destined only to contest the 3rd spot in the Europa League section.

If we can keep our 4 bright sparks fit for the major games, we will do well in the SPFL. If we can get Juranovic back as first choice RB and maybe use Scales to spell Monty out of this bad spell, then we just have to get a midfield that works. Give Shaw a chance in a home game against a bottom 5 SPFL team and test if he has better potential than Soro or Bittton or McCarthy.

I am actually more hopeful about our team after tonight

  11. “It has to happen soon,

“I’m disappointed for our fans tonight.

“They created a great atmosphere and we had such a good start to the game, we really took it to them and created several opportunities.

“So to walk away tonight losing 4-0, we’re all very disappointed in the dressing room – and we should be. We need to have a reaction.

“We’ve made things difficult for ourselves, even towards the end there was no need to concede a fourth. It shouldn’t have been a 4-0 game. We’ve got to be stronger mentally and keep ourselves in the game.

“It’s one thing me being supportive but there’s got to be a reaction to this. We’ve just got to keep persevering.

“We’ve had a number of injuries, we’ve rebuilt the squad – all those kind of things – it’[s not surprising it’s taking time. But I still feel even within that we can be better.

“We’ve just got to persevere and push through it, use the disappointment we have to fuel some fire to turn things around.”

Postecoglou again bemoaned the lack of a ruthless edge at both ends as the factor that is currently killing his team.

“We had some great chances and it’s a story of both boxes,” he said. “They’re a good side, they were clinical in the box.

“We made some mistakes that you can’t make at this level, so it was disappointing overall.

“I still think we had a couple of moments we could’ve done better in, although to be fair, their keeper’s pulled off some unbelievable saves as well.”

There you have it, from the horse’s mouth.

Or, utter shite from someone out of their depth.

BTW, enjoyed the cameo from the new Cifti.

  12. Well once again I enjoyed a lot of the game, with a bit of luck we could’ve scored 2or 3 goals.

Of course we will have a few wanting the manager sacked ,I can understand that ,asi wanted Big Jock sacked after a few games .

Listen,we are on our way to success ,breathe in breathe out relax TAL

  13. Fullback positions are killing us just now compounded by a midfield 3 that don’t have the right mix.

Unfortunately we don’t have the players required in midfield and our first choice fullbacks are injured.

  14. VALE BHOY on 1ST OCTOBER 2021 12:10 AM

There are far more important things going on the world. Don’t waste all this energy on a football match.

  15. Wasn’t expecting too much from tonight and unfortunately was right to think that it was always going to be a step too far.

I thought Jota did extremely well and be a huge player for us going forward.

We need Big Julien back ASAP as he will improve our central defence but in order to move forward

We have to strengthen our midfield with at least 2 signings.Rogic and DT playing together just does not work.

Rogic looked done in after 30 mins and just what the hell was DT doing in that “clearance “?

We need to be slicker more dynamic more physical and have better legs in the middle.

Problem is currently we are miles away in the midfield.

Soto / Bitton just won’t cut the mustard either.

  16. Let Ange do his job ,what do we know how to run his team .

Lennon @ Lambert pontificating about his coaching, sacked from every position they have held.

Trust me Ange given time will deliver TAL

    MALONE BHOY

Spot on . Montgomery is a promising youngster but not ready for test like tonight . Struggled against Jeremy .

Ralston , a limited , honest trier who has come on a lot but never a first pick RB . Two of BL’s goals came from him losing the ball in their territory leaving a huge gap in behind him for BL to exploit . Ange needs to use Juranovic (when fit) at RB , his natural position .

As for the midfield , Callum is the only one I would have no doubts about . Rogic and Turnbull (what has happened to him?)were ineffective and McCarthy seems like a huge and expensive mistake .

We have had many great suggestions from you on how we best commerate Garry’s life, including flowers, a memorial brick, donation to Mary’s meals and financial support for the family etc.

Garry’s family, like so many others in our world today, is not a rich family and find their wealth is through the happiness of the family, so to have the burden of not only laying Garry to rest, but also the cost that goes with it is horrific .

Having spoken with Garry’s son Ryan, we feel it appropriate to pass any monies raised direct to the family to let them decide the best way to use it.

Anyone who wants to support the family in leaving a long lasting commemoration in honour of Garry can do so through making a donation via bank transfer to –

  22. Some aspects of our game were good, however we cannot afford a striker who misses 3 very good chances.

If Kyogo not fit don’t play him, although he seemed mobile enough.

    We missed chances,they did not.

    Played well in.parts,never a 4 0.

Spot on! When Rodgers was asked how his team could improve in Europe, he replied “better players”. This seems to be what you are saying and I think it’s true. But will the board support Ange? I doubt it, but let’s see what happens in January if Ange is still in charge. Three players may be enough – one at the back, one in midfield and one up front.

The system Ange plays, like Rodgers’s can be exciting but to be successful in competitions it demands certain types of players and certain qualities that we don’t have at the moment. The history of Celtic shows you that if you don’t win you get moved down the road.

  25. sceptical citizen on

Its long past the time for us as fans and the club, well the playing area of the club, to realistically reflect upon the last time a Scottish club had some success in European competition.

Some, or none if us, will take our green and white specs off and admit that, given the financial disparities between Celtic versus European clubs we’re goosed! Well indeed some European clubs might not have anything like the resources that Celtic have.

Point I’m making is, money is not going to help us here.

So if we’re mature enough we would put our hands up and agree with the FACt that, the last team from Scotland to see a measure of success in European competition, was Walter Smith’s Rangers team that got to a European final, in 2008 in Europa League or whatever it was called after it changed its format immediately after, MON took us to the final in Seville in 2003.

Now, Walter Smith’s team didn’t have the talent that we had in Seville, I’m sure even WS would agree with that.

Now we all know that the huns fans wrecked the city of Manchester in 08.

But that’s nothing to do with WS, as the rioting was happening on the streets long before kick off.

What I’m saying is we have to get real. Street wisdom got WS team to the final in 08, and I hate to say this, but….if MON had applied the street wisdom in Seville, that he applied at Ibrox a month earlier, when for the first time against McLeish’s huns, MON played 4 at the back in a 4411 formation that outfoxed everybody and we had a good day 1-2 at Ibrox, same approach in Seville from MON, and then things could’ve been so different for us, and for MON. For evermore.

WS team played streetwise in Europa 08, and got to the final.

It wasn’t the mibbery supported WS domestic football, so WS team in European competition minus the domestic SFA mibbery, was a more street wise product that got the club to a European final.

There were a few lucky breaks for WS team as well on that run.

Same ugly hun thugs in blue jerseys, but you have to be pragmatic and look beyond that.

WS made the best of what he had, like MON did too, but sadly not in the draining heat of Seville, which for me was a trick missed by MON, I don’t think there’d be a Celtic fan alive who’d curse MON if his team had parked the bus, and blootered the long ball in Seville if, I say “IF” it had brought Celtic FC that trophy, I’m sure he knows that too, and it won’t stop me loving MON and his staff until my last puff, that’s nailed onto my coffin lid.

Park the bus. Play the long ball. Or be an idealist like Brendan was in Europe and you’ll get what both he and, Ange got tonight, and he’ll continue to get for as long as he’s Ange.

Or he could improvise and overcome like MON and WS.

We’re a wee club who play in a puddle type of, backwater.

If we’d won in the heat of Seville, the old firm would probably be playing in a British league by now.

The huns rioting in Manchester 08 has probably killed that chance forever.

Park the bus. Play the long ball. Copy MON [Beach ball Sunday 1&2] and WS [European version].

The purists and “play the Celtic way” dreamers would turn their noses up at such a thought.

So what? They drink deludamol by the gallon getting mugged by every chancer who fancies a pop!

Celtic’s footballing approach to European competition is as enlightened as yon jap soldier in the jungle.

Forget about “the crab” 4231 4321 “Ange ball” just bin the guff and put some realism onto the pitch.

Smart! cagey! street wise! park the bus! long ball! No tippy tappy in your own box? 0-0 or 0-4?

Call it what you like. But its better than getting mugged over and over, faithful through n through.

WS or MON football certainly isn’t enlightened Barca at their best, but do you think we would’ve been cuffed in the way that “Ange ball” has been cuffed if we’d taken a leaf from MON or WS book?

Are we grown up’s or are we £shop bigots?

Get the dinosaur song book tae F•••.

You don’t have to call it MON or WS football if your still emotionally distraught at such a street wise thought.

Call it MON beach ball Sunday 1and 2.

Or MON dumps Barca out of Uefa cup at Nou Camp 0-0 2004.

We’re we GAF about parking the bus that night?

Or MON skelps Liverpool at Anfield 0-2 in 2003.

I know MON football was different from WS.

I call it “unmuggable football” any day of the week.

And WS football in European competition wasn’t backed by mibbery like it is in Scottish football.

Celtic managers have been caught in a “play the Celtic way” mindset trap, since the Willie Malay song made an appearance.

Even the greatest of them all by a country mile, Mr Stein, didn’t “play the Celtic way” all of the time.

And only Mr Stein had the players to do it.

That means “play the Celtic way” should be swerved at all costs.

Only a mug would apply this footballing approach.

Then they soon realise that it can’t be done – even the greatest couldn’t do it.

Ange is a one trick pony. A nice man. But nice isn’t going to work “ever” for us.

Only Celtic FC would’ve contemplated recruiting Ange.

And they did so, so that Celtic’s very easily fooled supporters would fall for the PLC’s Ange trick.

By the time the novelty wears off of “Ange ball” the fans will slowly turn on Ange.

The slower the better for the PLC, as by that late time the slow fans will realise that they’ve been done! Again!

Then the slow fans will head for the car park with their “Ange OUT” banners.

And by that time, the PLC will be having a champagne party in the boardroom.

Another title to Ibrox this being the £40 million biggy!

Last years title was the one that buried the “10 in a row” propaganda. Probably for ever.

Last year’s title was important as it ended the possibility of hun supporters season book boycott, and inevitable financial collapse of Ibrox club again, leading to maybe another five years out of the SPFL, and Celtic Park with thousands of empty seats for another five years.

This years title looks a certainty for Ibrox whilst Celtic’s easily mugged fans

rally around “Ange ball” and “crab ball” bs.

Are the fans on a guilt trip because they should’ve emptied the PLC last summer after blowing the “10” then the fans started using brazen sevconian excuses for giving the PLC £600 each?

“Oh we just support Ange, not the PLC.”

This after fans handed £600 each to PLC, then fans kept a sevconian style straight face whilst claiming “we don’t support PLC.”

  27. Sceptical Citizen…so what’s the plan

Never qualify for european football again to negate yer embarrassment?

We are rebuilding after years of neglect…but Ange has to fulfil our desires within months….geez a brek….where we are in the league at the turn of the year should be where we judge…no?

  28. There’s a photo doing the rounds of our two full backs standing in the centre circle with us playing out from the back at 0-0.

I’m afraid that’s just unbelievably reckless football at this level.

I’m confident about Sunday now having seen CalMac and Kyogo getting some game time. Our bench looks to be getting stronger also. Three points on Sunday and hopefully get Forrest back after the international break and we can look to a hugely important October with confidence.

Ange will need to become more street wise in Europe though or we’ll suffer many more results like last night’s.

    ———————————————————–

My apologies if you weren’t being ironic.

Did you mean the St Johnstone manager with multiple league titles under his belt and vast experience in Europe or someone else?

When you dump all those you mentioned and din’t mention, where will the replacements come from? Are they already there waiting for their chance? Or are you betting on the board funding replacements? Good luck with that. Critical thinking is a useful skill but when it’s not tied to reality it’s called brainstorming and most bad ideas are ultimately jettisoned and only the realistic ideas are considered in more depth.
