    Morning all. Glorious day here.

     

     

    Sorry for the following rant; just scroll on but I have to get it off my chest. Radio Scotland’s sports department really is beyond contempt. The first character opined that he reckoned that Andy Murray’s achievement is the best ever by a Scot. Better in his opinion than that of a Grand Slam rugby team and various boxers(!!!). His companion then sandwiched us between Aberdeen and thon deid team.

     

     

    Radio Scotland: WE ARE THE FIRST BRITISH TEAM TO WIN THE BIG CUP (not the wee wan Aberdeen and the deid team won) AND THAT TEAM WAS MADE UP OF 11 SCOTS. I know it sticks in yer craw but it’s in the history books and is not going to be erased ever.

     

     

    Sorry folks but they really sickened me and I do not want to denigrate Andy Murray’s achievement in any way.

    FWIW I think Andy Murray is the greatest Scottish sporting individual since Jim Clark; although the likes of Salmond and Cameron should note that if young Andy hadn’t taken himself off to Spain as a teenager, and employed a Czech coach he’d probably now be workin’ in RS McColls as well.

    Just in to say…

     

     

    I’ve been ‘raking’ through the loft and and gotten hold of a pile of old VCR – Tapes of – Celtic stuff. Putting them onto DVD’s the now and I’m on one VCR just now containing the entire SSB show of – Spartak Moscow 1-1 Celtic(Hartley) during the WGS era.

     

     

    I was working on the afternoon that game was on and I think that the TV coverage was on delayed transmission on Setanta.

     

     

    It’s not HT yet and – Peter Martin(McGuire) is a died in the wool Tim – even though he had to change a fine surname to further his career in this nice wee country(Scotland) :)

     

     

    A guid wee SSB crew for this game – Paul Cooney / Peter Martin(McGuire) / Mark Guidi / Hugh Keevins / Andy Walker = All Tims !!!!!

     

     

    The ole VCR thingy also contains a call from me on the SSB phone-in to Paul Cooney and Andy Walker after the game.

     

     

    I’m no sure but – I think my favorite hunskelper is on the phone-in as well – Terry O’Neill.

     

     

    Away noo to listen to the rest of the SSB coverage. God Bless Yeez Awe.

    At today’s race meeting at Ayr racecourse a 2 year old filly will be making her debut in the 2:30 race. Her name is Kano’s Ghirl and a percentage of all/any of her winnings, under the current owners, will be donated to the Kano Foundation. Wish her luck!

     

     

    p.s. the trainer thinks she is a good each way bet but with first timers, anything can happen.

    Great weekend of sport … probably the best I can remember that didn’t involve real football.

     

     

    Getting fed up with all of the attempts to drag politics into Wimbledon though. Folk should remember it was an individual tournament – And Murray won, not Scotland or Britain.

    Andy`s achievement was the best by an individual Scot in any sport. Celtic`s Big Cup win was the best by a Scottish team in any sport. Two different successes but worthy of similar praise.

    Don’t think the club have any choice over Gary hooper. He is our only goal scoring forward who is guaranteed a starting 11, sell him now and we would have zero goalscorers and no time and money to buy one

     

    Ps I would also put vic in the category of cant be sold as big hole in midfield without him. Too many wee teams ran over our midfield last year

    Really. are they obliged to mention this disgrace of a football club at every opportunity ?

     

     

    For the record (if you have not seen it) it looked and felt like a game between two junior teams.
