My suspicion last night was that maybe Ronny had chucked it. Maybe he has already been told he will be replaced in the summer?

I don’t know, probably a conspiracy theory based on a knee jerk reaction, but that’s what I thought when watching him standing in the technical area impassively.

Probably a load of old cobblers, but you never know. If it is true, then I feel sorry for him.

‘The suggestion that the team isn’t trying is tiresome. It’s a lazy assessment about what went wrong that’s trotted out every time we get a poor performance.’

We from what I saw last night it appeared to me the players were not giving their all, examples

    1. 50/50 challenges, not sure we won any, outfought too often.

    2. Hiding and not wanting the ball, Lustiq with his back to the goalkeeper, rather than looking for an early balls.

    3. On numerous occasions late on long balls were put into or near their box and not one Celtic player challenged for the ball. When the fans saw this they really started to lose it with the players.

To think this group of players have less footballing skills than their recent opponents, Dundee/Hamilton is hard to accept, to think the opposition players worked harder than our, mmmm, I think they did.

I am not saying this is the only issue, but it is an issue in my view.

He could probably continue to play a useful role at Celtic.

If he has been told that he will be replaced in the Summer , then that would be a shocking mistake .

Dead man walking while punters suffer.

    Not in silence.

  4. If team selection, positional tactics and player attitudes continue as they are, we cannot assume that we will win this league. Far from it. Something has got to give…..pronto!

Would we be in a better position if Neil Lennon had bought into the plan and stayed as manager, with Ronny under him, developing young players for the squad.

Unfortunately, Neil didn’t exactly improve his own position, by being idle for months, then taking up a job that nobody wanted.

  6. What ever happened to the “Generation of Domination”??

My worry is, if they decide to stick with Ronny and the downward spiral continues, we could be looking at 3rd place next season at best, it’s time for change.

We are headed for 5 in a row and are 4 points clear

Congratulations, you’ve outdone your competition when it comes to massive overreactions

    3rd place? Jeez.

  8. so, fitter faster younger pressing etc

when is that all happening then?

its sure taking its time in arriving? has it been eating chips and cola on the way?

  9. macjay1

I agree on both counts. I think Ronny has something to offer Celtic in some capacity but the humiliation for him to move sideways would be too much IMO.

It would be an absolute howler of a mistake if that is the situation. I always think of that season at Man Utd when Ferguson said he was retiring at the end of the season (before later u-turning), if I remember correctly they had a terrible season.

  10. Was at the game last night, very worrying and at 9/1 Aberdeen looks like a good speculative bet

    Familiar failings,

    Total lack of structure

Midfield seem to be missing as an entity ( every outball was scooped up by Dundee )

Woeful passing for highly paid professional footballers

D Boyata ( one of our worst/least confident players ) seems to be the go to pass when nothing else is on

Players hiding ( nobody moves for a throw)

The byline seems to be forbidden territory as opposed to the tactic of try to run through three players ( J Forrest et al )

Playing players out of position ( Armstrong etc)

Switching the whole team from one week to the next ( Allan then Roberts etc etc)

No defensive midfield cover leaving the least confident defence ever exposed

    Total dependence on one striker

I could go on but all of the above have been evident for weeks hence the fans worries and anxieties

I travel at least an hour and a half to get to the game ( I know many people travel much further ) I dont expect to win every game but I do expect 100 % from the players and some degree of team strategy and tactics from the management team.

Last night we had neither, I think that after the game I and other fans should be allowed to express there displeasure ( no defence of the GTF chant appalling) Having stood in the jungle and listened to the abuse Tommy Callaghan got on a weekly basis I can assure you that the behaviour of the fans then is the same as it is now

I am worried longer term, why we sign so many duds from Man City and one agents mystifies me, we are not building a balanced team, anyone can see that, so why cant the people who run the club.

Cole, Kazim, Roberts whats the point can someone explain pls

  11. There’s no overreaction, wake up and smell the coffee, this is real. Anybody confident of beating Morton on Sunday? Would we beat the Huns in a semi or final? I say, Ronny, be a man and walk.

  12. PL is leaving at the end of this season? Who starts this crap, probably one of the nut cases who was booing last night, and buys smoke flares for away games, or else a Hun,.

  13. 21-5-79 on 3RD MARCH 2016 11:00 AM

You are right, Ronny should walk, but I doubt he will.

I am not saying this is the only issue, but it is an issue in my view.

    ________

I disagree that there was no effort. Celtic managed to get about 60% of the ball without Dundee creating much.

Every time a time a team puts in a below par performance people complain about desire and commitment. Dundee didn’t outwork Celtic last night. Celtic were just poor on the ball. Sluggish.

Hitting hopeful longballs and passing it back to a keeper are signs that a team was lacking confidence (they certainly don’t get that from the fans) and the team malfunctioned.

It’s easy for me to say this with the benefit of hindsight, but the coach got the selection wrong. In particular, the Mulgrew and Brown pairing looked sluggish (both having returned from long-term injury)

He could have dropped Rogic in there and allowed somebody like Commons, Allan or Christie to play.

He chose to give a chance to Armstrong and Forrest ahead of those three despite being in poor form.

He could have even went 4-4-2 with Kazim-Richards.

Like I said, benefit of hindsight and all but putting out a midfield with Rogic, Mulgrew and Brown at 70% or 80% of their usual level and an out of form Armstrong seems strange.

A sense of entitlement ffs? Is that how far some guys expectations have fell? Look at the budget, look at the players, compare to any other team in Scotland,do I expect to win the league in these circumstances? Every time.

No point in regurgitating the obvious about Deila. From the summer of 2014 he was holed below the waterline. Like the Titanic, it’s took a long time. just the keel to break and slip under the water.

Now the crew, that’s who we should be focussing on just now. Reflecting on the part played by the ship’s architects is for another, later day, as we should focus on how to save what we can.

But back to the the ship’s compliment. Many indicating ( I wasn’t at the game last night) confidence is gone ? Not for a second do Ithink the likes of Commons, Mulgrew and especially Brown have suffered in this respect. I’d beleive Armstrong and one or two others may be affected but not the likes of Lustig.

Well after that post all I can say is get your dosh on them if your sure, Aberdeen should be 20/1 they’ve no chance, I’m not REALY into what Aberdeen are doing but are they banging in goals right left and centre these days, and taking the SPFL by storm? Away an bite my arse they’r a myth, we’re going through a choppy spell right now and still top of the league,. Do yourself a favour, look at the league table, goals for and against ratio, find a daft room an have a Wee lye doon ffs.

    No two ways about it.

  21. After suffering through that abject performance last night and on reflection I would not have 100% confidence in this present bunch of players and management being able to overcome Scotland’s newest club should they meet ,if the two of them were to progress further in the Scottish Cup. I just hope that Dundee are capable of beating them on Saturday because 5 in a row will mean sweet FA if that mob are sitting with a major trophy in their cabinet come the end of the season

    So there we have it.

Happy clappers who chided me about 3 weeks ago for pointing out that Ronny doesnt know his best team are now saying that Ronny needs to….settle on his best team.

    In your own time.

And by the way, you don’t change your mind on your best team twice a week.

‘Take your blindfolds off, you hypocrites…’

He’s an idealist, but this is the real world. He has not a clue about what it takes to play for Celtic either technically or mentally. We are also asking a man to change his personality to revive our clubs fortunes…not going to happen.

Follow the example set by Man City(ironic eh) and announce he will go at the end of the season. This will remove the Ronny GTF brigade and get everyone pulling in the same direction at least to get us over the line, knowing there is a fresh start coming in the summer.

That’s a good idea, is that the Man City that’s lost three league games in succession since the announcement and are now out of the title race?

If the decision is already made, act now. If they are waiting to see who’s available in the summer, act now. The alternative is to come out and publicly back the manager and say he’s going no where (whether he is or not).

My highlight under Ronny was the cracking team goal against Inter. We were playing some quality football during that period.

Seems to go pear shape after the Malmo away game. Ronny had a go at players after that game(rightly so). Since then it’s not happened.

Hate when Celtic are in this mess,I’m gutted today. Not got a clue what’s going to happen.

Im not going to get into a spat mate, Ive been going to Parkhead for 45 years and I have seen better Celtics with a better points difference fall to poor teams like the current Aberdeen

If we continue to play like last night I wouldnt back the current mob to win anything

  28. TIMALLOY29

I agree the midfield selection was strange and more importantly a worry, as you say none of them are anywhere near fit and to play them all in the same side, mmm.

I also agree our issues are way more than just the question of players trying.

I still feel the players could be doing more than talking after the event, actions speak louder than words.

  29. Why play patently unfit players ?

It goes against everything RD said we would do, fast pressing football is not attainable with unfit players.

Broonie, Mulgrew and Rogic are not fully fit, Lustig is not fully fit, the first three are the bulk of the midfield, Armstrong is woefully out of form.

Forrest won’t sign a contract it’s been said.

Where was Johansen, no saying he is the answer, but he was along with Allan was one of our better players against HA.

It really doesn’t add up when we have the likes of Allan, Christie, McGregor to pick from.

  30. BIG-CUP-WINNERS on

Nope it’s deliberate. Calculated and nasty, retribution for some of these characters must be meted out afterwards. I’m going to focus on Brown, as an example. Anyone doubt he has drive, aggression etc ? Of course not, so why these passive displays ?

Wonder if Lawwell and Desmond will respond to the distress flares and rockets in the stands ? Well respond early enough to ensure the title is achieved. It’s still there and we have a window with the Scottish Cup tie this weekend. The fixtures thereafter could allow some momentum to be built under a new manager too.
