I think one of the reasons we haven’t really hit top form domestically this season is injuries.
Brown, Armstrong, Dedryck, and Moussa were four of our most important players last year. All have been in and out of the team.
Plus the fragility of Jozo, Erik, and Leigh has left us a bit exposed at times. Hopefully the injury list is clearing and we can get a settled team on the park.
On yesterday’s evidence-
Thiago Altancara -The Italian /Brazilian /Spaniard whose Old Man won a World Cup Winner’s medal -really makes them tick.A fabulous shift in central midfield.Man can sure pass the ball.Other thing I noticed -Coman is lightning quick.
3 points and a clean sheet………
Good day at the oul’ office.

Exactly, I know where I would prefer to be :-)

I think Mueller is one of the reasons the last manager of Bayern got der boot, with him not playing as much a very big influence in the dressing room, anyway fingers crossed for any result on Wednesday am sure the Bhoy’s & ghirls in the Allianz will have a great time whatever, BT sport will be amazed when the number of away fans in the home end are rumbled, got a feeling the half-scarves will be sold out :-)
Quite a good article,but..

Haven`t read back so I don`t know what the general CQN view is on yesterday\s performance. One of the less positive of our supporters voiced his opinion at half-time that not one would receive pass-marks from him. I suggested Boyata had played very well. ” Well, one then,” he replied. I then said that I felt Roberts had been exceptional at time. ” Well, aye, he was pretty decent as well.” I didn`t want it to develop into a what else have the Romans type of debate so I left it at that.
I felt that throughout the ninety minutes, most of our players played well but made uncharacteristic mistakes –poor passes at potentially rewarding moments plus Griff`s remarkable miss–being two examples. Ntcham was untidy but, of course, scored the all important goal and Kouassi looked out of touch. Overall, though, a far better performance from our team than f rom Andrew Dallas.

JJ.
Was agreeing with everything you said there until you got to Kouassi, although he did run out of steam in the second half, I thought he was fairly decent, not at the Broonie stage yet but decent all the same.
Was pleasantly surprised by Dundee yesterday, apart from a few agricultural tackles on Paddy, for the most part they tried to play football, pressed our mids and defenders high up and bar a few quality saves from Doris could have came away with at least a point.
All in all it was an entertaining game, well for a Scottish league game anyway, I could see them being top six , but for one thing , other Scottish teams wont allow them the time on the ball they had yesterday.
H.H
For me the main characteristic from yesterday’s games was the countless times when the correct pass was chosen, but was poorly executed – quite simply not passed quick/hard enough and so easily intercepted.
Bayern (A) – Hibs (N) – Aberdeen (A) is certainly testing times. But exciting. 3 TV games for me to look forward to starting now………………………….. 3 more sleeps ;-)
My friends in Celtic,
Another 3 points and the journey continues. If the truth be Told, it wasn’t a very good performance and the entertainment level fell short of what we are used to. Maybe we are now a bit spoiled.
Again we were shown just how valuable Scott Brown is to the team. We often only appreciate what an influential figure he is when he’s not playing.
Oh dear it seems the GB banner has upset a few on the Facing Book. Tee Hee. Sacrilege they cry , how dare anyone criticise our dear leaders who can do no wrong. In my opinion it was totally accurate and reflects the club’s view that the act is not fit for purpose. ( Whether political banners should be flown is another matter although this one was directly football related )
We had a fiesty discussion in the boozer afterwards : which game was the bigger , Wednesday or next Saturday. For me it’s Wednesday .
Talking about next Saturday, I know at least one pub on the Gallowgate opening early. Liquid breakfast at eight anyone ?
HH to all, but especially to those who made the effort yesterday.
If we were guaranteed 2 wins and a defeat in next 3 games, I’d sacrifice the League Cup,
If I were guaranteed Hibs would win it, I’d be tempted to sacrifice it anyway.
on the banner, i look forward to one thats going after regan , doncater, petrie, budge and milne.
where the judicial review ?
its only the 3 penalties dundee should have had
dobber
————
Dundee ‘should have had a penalty’ Dundee manager Neil McCann says his team were denied a clear penalty in their 1-0 defeat at Celtic Park and even spoke to officials about the decisions. He said: “I think our honesty hurt us,” “Roarie Deacon, he does everything to stay on his feet, and he’s still not set when he’s taking the shot “Glen Kamara has a chance in the first half where he’s too honest and stays on his feet, it should have been another penalty. “But the biggest one I’m annoyed about is the Jack Hendry one. It’s a clear penalty for me. He’s won the header, he’s been cleaned out by Gamboa, and I don’t care where that is on the pitch that should have been a free-kick and indeed it’s in the box, it’s a penalty.”

The 3 fixtures are all winable and loseable.
Bayern are still way above us in capability, They aint Anderlecht, andmany are being wildly optimistic on the back of that result that we can do something against Munich, for me a draw would be wunderbar. A win, would be one of the greatest results in our history. Havign said all that, our full first team picks with Brown back, then we do have some sort of chance. I do think we will score. Can we keep them out though. Key men for us Brown, Jozo and Gordon.
Hibs, I thought played us very well the other week. They will be up for the cup semi-final, Lennon is a smart operator, allready he is at the mind games, talking up their chances if celtic are tired. They could shade it. but then again its about who is available for us. Key men – Rogic, the big game goal scorer and Griffiths to put his bhoyhood allegiences aside, and put them to the sword.
Still I wouldnt be suprised if hibs did edge it with the help of a referee mistake (how must the refs hate this hobsons choice, celtic or lennon, ).
Aberdeen. An impressive run of form, are they better than last season ? they have matched us over the first 9 games, and at points last season they ran us very very close. So we need to be at our best. The most interesting thing is how the SFL computer managed to get the biggest match of the season into a wednesday night slot. Interested in Cultsbhoys opinion. This might be the night for a return to form for Dembele, and a Scotty Sinclair master class. A draw might be the most likely.
In all 3 games I wouldnt be suprised if James Forrest scored some.
Ramble over
I hope we maul Hibs in the semi final, used to support them and look for their results, primarily because of Neil Lennon and a few ex-Celts in there.
Rod Petrie’s stance on “lets move on” and his involvement in the 5 Way Agreement and the cheating in Scottish Football has soured me on Hibs.
GREENPINATA
Wish I could take you up on that offer!
At 8am I’ll be on my way to Wimbledon Tim territory.
I’m slightly ambivalent about the Bayern game, I would love us to get a result of some kind over there but the sad realist in me just can’t see it so in that respect for me victories over Hibs and Aberdeen are more important at this time with the home game against Anderlecht being the bigger game in our Euro campaign, win that and we should be in Europe after Christmas and that would be in my opinion progress this season.
I’ve never had any particular feeling for Hibs except to remember my early games at Hampden against them, I’m fond of Neil but when it comes to the semi final I hope we batter them and reach our first final of the season..
Bring on the Muncheners…

ROBINBHOY
Aye. Agreed.
Ridiculous scheduling of our games angers BR We have to play a semi -final against Hibs 60 hours at lunchtime on a saturday afternoon after playing Bayern Munich on the Wednesday
Brendan Rodgers has accused Scottish football of losing it’s common sense.
Next Saturday at Hampden Celtic face Hibs in the semi-final of the League Cup just 60 hours after taking on Bayern Munich in the Champions League.
With Saturday and Sunday available for the semi-finals Rodgers was expecting Celtic to get the Sunday slot but that has been handed to Motherwell and Sevco with the Ibrox club getting 10 days to prepare for their Hampden date.
“I’m very surprised,” the Celtic boss told The Sun about the match scheduling. “I assumed, which was maybe a mistake of mine, that common sense would come into it.
“That the team who were playing in a high level game in Germany on the Wednesday night would play on the Sunday instead of an early kick-off on a Saturday.
“I would assume it boils down to telly. They could have been kinder to us but we get on with it.
“I am sure Neil Lennon will be delighted because it can make a huge difference.”
Yesterday’s 1-0 win over Dundee kicked off a hectic spell of high profile matches for the hoops that involves Bayern Munich twice, Hibs, Aberdeen, Kilmarnock and St Johnstone.
Rodgers will have to utilise his squad to the maximum with Dorus de Vries and Cristian Gamboa starting their first matches of the season yesterday at home to Dundee.
Scott Brown and Stuart Armstrong are expected to be fit to face Bayern on Wednesday but there is still doubts over the fitness of Mikael Lustig and Jozo Simunovic.
Next three games should be strongest available 11 starting. Don’t expect us to get anything in Munich, a good performance and avoidance of a heavy defeat, anything better is a bonus.
Hibs had their chance against us two weeks ago and couldn’t win. We were just back from Brussels and played a load of fringe players in a changed formation. This time we will have (hopefully) Simunovic, Brown, Armstrong, Sinclair, Roberts and Griffiths available from the start, that should make a huge difference.
Aberdeen at Pittodrie is the one that concerns me most. They will have had 10days to work on their game plan whilst we play Bayern and Hibs. They seem to have stumbled upon a decent central defensive pairing, something they haven’t had in recent years and will be difficult to break down.
For me beating Hibs is most important as it keeps up the chance of a historic back to back treble.
Weaknesses at the Celtic. Not hitting the heights? Passing going astray. Not his usual self? Eboue out of touch ?
Not the usual standard.
Moaning whinging, victim of the match( week month). What do the modern Celtic supporters want ? And it’s not the young guys, they’re all up in the GB area giving it 100% for 90 minutes.
I sit in 144, a fair number of frustrated, quick to moan counter-productive fools who cannot wait to criticise for the simplest of errors.
There’s enough in the stadium to be heard by the players. But hey, they’ve paid their money and after a hard week at work somebody is getting their impotent rage.
If you have nothing positive to shout, simply keep quiet.
Ever played the game ? You simply cannot dominate every opponent, every game. Sometimes Dundee will create chances, we had how many personnel changes yesterday 4, 5, 6 ?
How many changes in organisation does that necessitate ? How many of the team were playing their first 90 minutes.
Think about it before you shout or write why ” Eboue fell out of the game in the second half ”
We actually won the game yesterday. Is that 59 without defeat ?
A cameo: second half there was an untidy piece of play, when the ball fell kindly to one of Dundee’s forwards. To my mind Boyata did well to get back and influence the shooter. DeVries made a great stop. Howls of derision from clowns “not good enough Celtic” “Rubbish”. Now no one was at fault in the build up. One of our defenders did well and the stopper well stopped. Two Celtic players did well, was there praise ?
I watched amazed as our supporters exited, perhaps 15,000 were still seated at the final whistle of a tense finale.
Are Celtic supporters now apathetic to success.
What are “we” about ?
Haven’t read back but I’m sensing a wee bit of negativity about yesterday. From where I was sitting, I thought Gamboa had a really decent game – strong tackling, good pressing, able support in attack. Seemed committed to me. I also was surprised/happy to see Bitton winning headers and making a few tackles…DeVries’ shot-stopping beyond criticism, his distribution not so good. I thought McGregor was a disappointment, well off the pace; ditto Henderson later on.
Boyata, Roberts and Gamboa really cut it for me. Ntcham was decent, Kouassi – there’s definitely a player in there.
As the old cliche says, winning when not playing well is what Champions do!

Some will be. The number will grow as Celtic’s domestic domination continues. It’s pretty much inevitable.
Haven’t seen my pal bournesouprecipie on for some time. Miss the ‘who would win a fight’ quips.
If you are around B. check in and leave us know you are alive & kicking.
Big Cup winners , the only thing yesterday which I found annoying was Leigh not taking his chance first time with his right foot , similar to the goal he scored at Ibrox recently.
Calum , I feel is better playing in not such an advanced position. He likes to see what is in front of him rather than waitiing for a pass to him with his back to goal.
I’m looking forward to seeing the stats breakdown from Celtic by Numbers.
McCann getting his rule book out again? Fud
Bada Bing, he really is a pathetic cretin , McCann.
Will he ever bring out the rule book where a decision is wrongly made in his team’s favour .
19000 at easter road yesterday. 24000 at murrayfield a couple of weeks before.
aberdeen for sure are the 2nd biggest draw in scottish football.
BCW,ERNIE
Anything less than 5-0 is unacceptable and the fans are entitled to make that plain.
And anything less than a competitive 90 minutes bores the nipples off us,and the fans are entitled to make that plain.
Go figure…
BIG-CUP-WINNERS on 15TH OCTOBER 2017 11:53 AM,
Right on the money. To expect this team, with the schedule, injuries,Internationals, reserves playing 1st games,to keep churning out great displays is quite frankly ridiculous.Eboue just back from long term injury, according to some halfwit, faded in the second half.
3 points is all you can expect sometimes, and these guys nearly always produce. No matter whats thrown at them. Some fans are just morons.
Can anyone tell me the last time Celtic at Hampden was not played on a Sunday?.I seem to remember every one of our semi finals being the 2nd game.
I have no worries about Hibs or Aberdeen. Our best team will win.The Munich game,as long as we give a good account of ourselves, and try and keep it competitive for the next game, job done.
Wee hypothetical question.
If Sevco were to employ NFL as manager and maybe employ a couple of x-Celt players, would anyone on here support them?
Naw! Really. Then why the need to support Hibs. I’ll be delighted if we took 5 off them no matter who manages or plays for them.
Like all teams I hope they do better than Sevco in all comps except when playing us.

***CQN Last Man Standing 9 Update-week 3***
Good afternoon folks
We move on to week 3, after an easy International week, unless you were a wee stubborn red head ( Mrs CRC?) or from the valleys ( Mrs Jobo Baldie of the EK valleys and roundabouts?), and 121 fine LMSers entered the affray.
A “grand old team” of 88 LMSers chose wisely (or luckily even) this week successfully move onto Week 4. But remember the safety net has now been removed!

As we all await for Ophelia to do her worst, 33 LMSers decided to take my advice and sensibly crash out at week 3 ( rather than a later week). Who would have predicted that the wise(?) old man of English football, Roy would get his Palace troops firing on all cylinders and give 27 LMSers a right “Franco-style” royal comeuppance for daring to go against him.

So remember, if you have been crushed by General Roy and his troops or indeed anybody else, you can buy back your right to freedom, and join us in week 4, for £10 of your fair pounds.
The “buyback tills” are now open for business :-)
Good Luck to all in week 4. The fixtures will be out later today.

I think the over riding reason for our allegedly lower level performances is the number of International breaks.
The season started in August, had a break in September and now we are just coming out of another one.
I believe that there is also a November play off break to come.
How can a team build momentum with all those interruptions?
It may be the same for all clubs, but not al clubs have the high number of players involved in those games.
We operate at a level where every point dropped is a minor catastrophe.
This impacts on coaching time and, probably more pertinent, recovery time.
CORKCELT,

Good reading on JJs site today. He is of the opinion that Glibbys defence lawyer is a high ranking Mason. The Judge being Lord Bannantyne, formerly Lord Peebles, who ruled that the use of the word Hun,was sectarian when used against, well,Huns,is also a well known Goat lover.
Deary me,whatever next.
I think one of the main issues with playing internationals is the time the players are away, which enables those who dont have players in squads to prepare properly and work on tactics and fitness, our guys have none of these opportunities which is effecting our performances, I will never join the clamour for any player to play internationals, I also think the unbeaten run is becoming a heavier burden to carry as the weeks go by , these next set of domestic fixtures are designed to end this run, Aberdeen are out of Europe and the League Cup and their only focus is the league, unlike the expectations on Celtic, Hibs on a Saturday when we will not be home from Munich until the early hours of Thursday.
