Met Billy in a pub in Fethard about 10 years ago. He was over with a group of Golfers, Think the trip was organised by a Glasgow Publican,
Told him our CSC was called The Bobby Murdoch Memorial CSC, I had an application for Membership Form bearing Bobby’s Photograph and asked would he become an Honorary Member.
Billy took the form & smiled sadly at the Photo and just said “Ah Bobby, what a player”.
He joined our Club and wanted to pay the subscription but I wouldn’t hear of it.
So folks I am proud to say Billy & me were fellow members of the same CSC.
Extremely sad to read of his progressive dementia, it is a condition I am only too well acquainted with.
God Bless the great Billy McNeill, I for one will remember him in my prayers tonight and I’m sure this will be replicated by Tims all over the world as they read the sad update on his condition.

Hi Bhoys
My only experience of seeing Billy Mc Neil not wearing our beloved hoops was about 35 years ago (i’m hopeless at years).
My new wife and I were going to the supporters bus player of the year dance in The Lynnhurst Hotel in Johnstone. As usual my wife made us late and we were standing at reception waiting to be shown to the suite that the event was being held in. I was in my early 20’s and asI thought in my prime. I was 6ft tall wearing my new made to measure suit with a mane of long golden locks. By my side was the most beautiful young woman I had ever seen in real life and also the mother of our newly born son.
Suddenly I was aware of another couple standing beside us. I gave them the casual gallus glance that all young men of that age do when they think they are the bees knees. Only to realise it was Cesar himself and his good lady wife Liz.
I was dwarfed by the stature of the man and the aura emanating from him. He even said good evening to both of us. The thing I will never forget though was the size of his barrel chest, it made me remember I was just a wee skinny runt. I must say that lovely as Liz was that night she never held a candle to my wife.
What a night we had dinner and singing and dancing to real Celtic songs all night. But the highlight of my night came when I got to shake the hand of the man who was voted by the bus as our YOUNG player of the year Tommy Burns R.I.P.

Yes pal.I felt very sad reading it too.Absolute legend.
Petec,
We are coasting but we need 2 creative midfielders.
Bitton just doesn’t do it for me.Ok square passing about in our half or keeping possession.
Would far rather McGregor or Henderson started than him .
Think both of them are decent attacking players but we need a step up in class in Europe.

My father loved big Billy and wee Jimmy but his favourite player was George Connolly, anyway, for me, Paul McStay, Tommy Burns & Neil Lennon are my Celtic heroes, I would have loved to argue with my father about who was best, but by all account he was even more stubborn than me, so am a bit annoyed I never saw George Connolly
For me Gerry it was always Tommy Burns. Men of that ilk don’t come round in life to often and I believe Big Billy and Paul Mc Stay would be the others from our club to fill the podium and if it was a boxers olympic podium Henrik would fill it.
There’s only one King BILLY that’s MC NEIL

Gerry,
My Celtic hero was and is Tommy Burns, he may have not been the greatest of our players but he was the greatest Celt. For me he epitomised everything that was good & special about the Club.
He played for a People & a Cause and I will always love him for that.
Tonight however I’m just thinking & praying for the great Billy McNeill.

I’ll be dead when I retire from gigging.
I’ve seen every band or singer I want to see; Bowie (multiple times), U2 (multiple times),The Stones,The Who, The Stone Roses, Queen, The Pistols, PIL, Cockney Rebel, Blondie, The Jam, Ian Dury, Dylan (multiple times), Graham Parker, Status Quo (every year I think), Deep Purple, Pink Floyd, Amy Winehouse, The Stranglers, Dr Feelgood, Alanis Morisette, Leonard Cohen – the list goes on.
Alongside Celtic, music is my passion and if I can’t have that, I’d have nothing!
I was asked the other day if I’d rather go blond or deaf (some kinda existential conversation) and I said I’d rather go blind. Not to listen to music any longer would leave my world a very empty place!

TRICOLOURED RIBBON, watch the game today again. Nir Bitton played more forward passes than any other midfielder and their were 2 exquisite long passes over the top that should have led to goals.
Not trying to be undiplomatic, but he is an easy target; his play in recent weeks has been first class. He stitched the game together today.
All IMHO of course! :>)

Nir has been good the last couple of games, he will need to really up his game to be in Brendans team next Season, I don’t think he will be there next Season though – not suited to the way Brendan ideally wants to play, some quality passes today though. :))
We need a wee (or big) magician to open up the defences. Delighted with the way Every Celt is playing like their lives depended on it. As you say, Tom is a big loss.
Cristian is a really good player, I was delighted to see him get the Jersey yesterday. That Bhoys work rate is incredible, Loving watching him play.

The Maestro on TB were fantastic payers, but I struggle to see what Lions they would have put out of the team!
IMHO, they would have only been subs (as would Lubo and Henke).

That Bling thing isnae for Celtic. Having a player paid £200000 a week makes me very wary.
I know that Real Celts would use a lot of that Money to help others, EVERY WEEK.
och it’s a quandary.

He sent one ball forward in the second half which was cut out.
You didn’t address my point that he didn’t want to know against the Huns in the semi final.
He can consider himself very fortunate in my opinion he is still a Celtic player.
