  1. Macjay,

Today is not the day to dispute with you about the people mentioned in the article. Suffice to say, some of them have let themselves down to further their media careers.

    JFH,

I hope your wife’s test results are favourable mate.

Must be a real trying time for you both just now.

Women are so brave and resilient.

A wee prayer for you both. All the best pal.

What is there to dispute ?

    I quoted Billy`s wife.

    No dispute about facts :

    Liz says.

“Celtic have been great as have the supporters and some of the old friends and players come and take him out. People like Pat Bonner, Andy Walker, Frank MacAvennie and Murdo McLeod come over.”

    ========================================================

Perhaps , of course , you know them better than she does.

Just reading back, and there are rich seams of sycophantic guff available. To get a glimpse of the kind of nonsense published about Warburton at the start of the season type “Mark Warburton future England manager” into google (other search engines are available).

My favourite is the headline that Warbs is ahead of Brendan in the betting for next England manager. Delusional idiots.

  6. A fine tribute here to Big Billy from Ian Archer on the occasion of his glorious final game playing for Celtic. I might be wrong ( long time ago), but, when he went up to lift his 23rd major honour as Celtic captain, didn’t he hold up 9 fingers to the crowd, showing how aware he must have been of the scale of that achievement beside the glory of Lisbon?

  7. John James reporting Dundee United have informed their players that club will be going into administration.

If true hopefully DU can follow the Hearts model back to the SPFL premiership and not The Engine Room subsidiary model as I believe the later model is specific to only one club business and no other will be capable of that same illusion if they stumble from administration into liquidation.

  8. JJ

Haven’t seen any. From my seat which is almost in perfect line give or take a couple of yards it was on side. But there is a certain bias in my judgement I suppose, much like the linesman who’s bias will be opposite.

  9. Macjay,

I don’t know any of them personally. I have, however, heard much of what some of them have had to say about Celtic which went way beyond fair comment or criticism. That is why they have been attacked on CQN. Nothing to do with their personal relationships.

  10. What is the Stars on

Just seen the replay of Moussas first goal yesterday

    What a player,What a player

We are lucky to have him……..

He is lucky Celtic signed him

  11. MWD

    Thanks.

Generally, I feel the linesmen are shown to be correct with offside decisions but, in Scotland and where Celtic are involved, I do not have any confidence in the Officials.

I wonder what Celtic manager signed the wonderful Moussa, I think our Dembelle signed about 6 months before BR signed :-)

  13. The MOTM award is being brought into serious disrepute these days. It is down to the fat cats in hospitality who get to make the choice and instead of awarding it to James Forrest last week or Gamboa/Boyata this week select Dembele as that is who they want to meet.

Perhaps the club should ask the fat cats to select both a MOTM and also the player that they most want to meet.

It reminds me of the Henrik era where he would have been chosen even if he had missed the match through injury! I saw him shake his head in annoyance at times when his name was called out.

  14. MACJAY1 FOR NEIL LENNON on 26TH FEBRUARY 2017 4:18 AM

Perhaps a reassessment is required of the guys mentioned below who cop it regularly , perhaps with some justification , from some of our number.

    Liz says.

“Celtic have been great as have the supporters and some of the old friends and players come and take him out. People like Pat Bonner, Andy Walker, Frank MacAvennie and Murdo McLeod come over.”

    ###

The criticism those guys get, on here at least, is regarding football matters, particularly in relation to der hun.

I don’t think anyone has suggested that they weren’t decent human beings (though I might have opined that Walker appears to be a right miserable sod, based on my two fleeting encounters with him).

  15. ACGR

I mailed you early hours of this morning bud .

You are an exceptional human being pal as most that know you , know that .

    Hopefully another time pal .

Once again thank you from both of us . :))

    Take care ..

  16. I’m in the local sports bar (imagine a student union where it is £4.50 for a crap pint in a plastic beaker) to watch the local derby (it’s for local people). That woukd be Norwich vs Ipswich btw. I wanted to come down to see what the atmosphere was like given that this town is 50/50 split between Norwich and Ipswich allegiances. I can confirm that the atmosphere is….thin to say the least.

The Glasgow derby atmosphere is far superior….and Thistle don’t even have that many fans…

  17. Been fleetingly watching the Palermo v Sampdoria game on BT2 whilst pottering about the house. Worst decision of the weekend must o to the award of Palermo’s first half penalty (they lead 1 – 0). Ball swept in from the wing and bounces around waist height. Palermo forward stams in looking to volley it into the net, Sampdoria defender stoops to head the ball to safety. Penalty! Presumably the ref thought the defender headed the otehr guys knee with too much force. Oh and, yes, I do have Sampdoria on my coupon ;-)

  18. I think I was wrong earlier, re Cesar. It might have been the 2-3 SC final defeat to Deidclub in 1973 when he held up 8 digits to the support as he received his medal.

Wee Jinky had the ball in the net chalked-off for offside before Jaws’ screamer that won it, I remember.

Finally saw us lift it for my first time in 1974, 3-0 v Dundee Utd, who had a player wearing a cardigan in the warm-up I believe.

  19. Gerryfaethebrig on

Pat Bonnar & Jim Goodwin telling their stories of Billy, wee Chick now saying big Billy made him sing Celtic songs or he wouldn’t get a lift…..

Pat, Macca, Andy Walker & Joe Miller by all accounts have been helping Billy & his family for a long time

Life is too far too short so well done bhoys

Saw your post about your upcoming April 1st event.

I imagine you’re going to be a busy man in the next few weeks, so I’ll stick this on just now, while you’re on.
