Celtic will be ‘ruthless’ in attack

    Celtic v Hamilton Academical (15:00)

Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers on BBC Sportsound.

“It’s important that we continue with the rhythm of our game. It’s our job to work really hard, press the game and create as many chances as we can and follow on from our last two performances.

“When most teams come here they try and keep the game tight and sit in a low defensive block and deny us space. Over my two and half years, the team’s view and idea of the game has become better and better. You’ve got to play with speed, you’ve got to penetrate their lines and disrupt their organisation whilst getting the ball into wide areas and crossing.

“The quicker you can move the ball it tires the opposition out. If it’s still tight going into the last 20 minutes, hopefully you’ve tired the legs of the opponent and more chances will come. The players have dealt with it well and they know today they need to be ruthless in order to sustain our attacks.”

  5. thomthethim for Oscar OK on

My half time comment was going to be that Calum needed a goal. Sorted.

My other one is why is Johnson not playing out wide and getting to the goal line?

As it is, he is cluttering us the middle.

Apart from that, we are playing well as a team and have carried on from Wednesday night.

  6. Doing OK,but some of the passing a wee bit off.Not much, just enough to matter going forward. For the height we have,we must be the worst at set pieces. We never get near them.

Aye, I hope its still under guarantee an we’ve kept the receipt.

  8. I agree about Mikey not wide enough.Too many in that area helping Hamilton.Have to stretch them more.

  9. Sanna……good Mhan……….why don’t you pop over……?

There’s a Beamish waiting for ye. The Missus says hi.

You’ve got to play with speed, you’ve got to penetrate their lines and disrupt their organisation whilst getting the ball into wide areas and crossing.

We have been relatively one paced with little evidence of using our speed.

We have got the ball into wide areas.

We have not penetrated their lines or disrupted their organization.

We have made it easier for them to defend by being predictable with our side to side then wide as this has allowed them to pack box and deny us space.

  12. Hamilton`s performance so far should make some reconsider their opinions about how apparently dreadful our opponents in Scotland are. If these players were as bad as some have claimed, Celtic, with the possession we have had and the pressure we have exerted, would have waltzed through and scored a barrowload.

Give opposition credit , realise how hard Celtic have to work to gain victories and rejoice accordingly..

I think Johnston is coming inside to look for the ball as he is receiving no service.

When ball goes to Lustig he usually passes across backline to middle and then we pass wide to izzy or Sinclair.

Maybe the midfielders are being cautious and giving passes to those with experience?
