    Brendan,

Please say young players need better refereeing.

    Never a better chance.

  3. Was working so didn’t see the game just the goals but what’s noticeable with out demolitions is that we play well and Eduoard does well when there are multiple dynamic players buzzing about around him. That’s the way we should be aiming to play anyway but sometimes in Europe or when the nerves kick in we get a bit more rigid and we don’t seem to know how to play that way coupled with the fact OE can’t play isolated the same way MD did or could – yet. Hopefully he develops and adds that string to his bow but until then we are as well going for it in Europe even at the risk of heavy defeats.

  4. Jonathan Sutherland on bbc sportsound, an absolute disgrace. Just tried to drag Brendan into whataboutery by asking him about Morelos allegedly being hit with a coin today. Brendan absolutely demolished him.

Thank you @Henke35 for the link to the game. Thanks ‘GG for all the streamables, much appreciated…

    Mon e Hoops!

  6. I listened to shortbread during the second half.

The co- commentators seemed to be having a blether and were definitely not keeping us up to date with happenings on the pitch.

    They did report the goals.

A complete pair of tits too.

Some fabulous play today – everyone was on song, great movement, multiple opportunties created.

This was especially true in the first half when Levein had sent out his team in seige mode. Great to see we’ve figured out how to break down teams that were getting success doing that until very recently.

However in the second half Levein went for broke (nothing to lose), with a really high line and putting massive amounts of pressure on whoever had the ball, or was about to get it. If they hadn’t already been getting pumped it might’ve worked. But it was waaaay too late and everyone’s confidence was sky high, so much so that even CG started taking the piss. Which was a bloody good laugh, after the fact. During this period we contained them reasonably well and made some teriffic breaks while they were all looking the other way.

Heart warming to see us be able to play in those two different styles, to combat two very different problems.

So now I’ll go into private Fraser mode, because I think better teams will look at that 2nd half and see an opportunity. This is where Europe becomes a whole different prospect.

Still, a very happy bhoy this evening. Hats off to the champions.

  8. It would be hard for the greeting faced to find anything to whine about with that performance today. First half in particular was brilliant. Second half Hearts decided to see how many of our players they could injure with KT a particular target, they were queuing up to try to wipe him out. The assault on Morgan was disgraceful and in any other country would have been a red card.

Eddy won MOTM, and with 2 goals and an assist it would be difficult to argue with him getting it, but CalMac at quarterback was immense. KT, the centre backs, Forrest and Sinclair were the best of the rest, but in reality everyone played well, including the three subs.

  9. I thought Hearts started off playing for a 0-0. It was the defensive block we have seen so often, you could throw a blanket over their entire team at times. Of course this was accompanied by the usual time wasting. The key is always the first goal and it took a moment of quality to break the deadlock. From then on it was cruise control and a question only of how many. The difference in our play is startling. This is a Celtic team simmering with confidence.

The main difference for me is the way we are building the play from defence, McGregor is moving the ball quicker than Brown. His starting position is also higher. Christie also had a higher starting position than Ntcham, he is not playing as a deep lying playmaker as Oli does. He plays higher up the pitch, pressing the opposition, moving and creating space for others. We are a totally different team and so much more fluent. I don’t know if it’s sustainable to go forward without a proper defensive midfielder, I highly doubt it. For now though, we look imperious.

Couldn’t find a feed today. Shame. Sounds like I missed a good one

Turned on the Arsenal-Liverpool game. Liverpool in a blue away strip. Would be like Celtic wearing a blue away strip. Just not right.

  12. weebobbycollins on

David17…agree re Sutherland…but that is how they operate…poor, poor journalism, especially after Brendan had already given them a complete answer pre-match about coin throwing…bbc scotland’s sports dept reputation is plummeting…(how can it plummet from the floor? Ed)

CalMac…what a performance in that first half…always looking to play the ball forward…no failures…happy tim tonight (and most nights)…

  15. The past month has been like going back to the invincible season for excitement and a joy to watch. And that’s with God knows how many injuries and losing Dembele. Who would have believed it?

Must be my tv or my eyes that are a bit off .. hopefully it is the TV.

Either way … not a great strip. And traditionally Liverpool have usually had pretty good strips

You cannot plummet from a basement.

Shortbread are the mouthpiece for the best wee country.

    A nest of sleekit,sniggering huns.

  18. just in from the game , thoughts, great 3 points.

we are a joy to watch going forward , dare i say it ON and SB not missed , we are a more direct higher tempo team with CMcG and RC playing, CG still taking risks at the back with his poor distribution.

  19. See what happens when you cut the grass?

Storming Saturday with all the Celtic team like a coiled up spring, Hearts were outclassed for the second time inside a week with as sweet a victory as you’ll see against the wee huns who are admittedly, shyte.

Embarrassingly easy against Craig Levein’s pointless tactics, with all of his players behind the ball and inside their 22 yard line even at 3-0 down, Celtic are like a team playing in a league of our own, in the latest turkey shoot.

Not even late tackles could dampen Celtic’s sweeping superiority and BR’s men sold the last few tickets for the Leipzig game in another thrilling huddling helped display.

Odsonne Edouard grabbed a double, with the first a peach, and the scene was set for The Battered Bunnet’s five, which he declared before kick off as, never in doubt. Callum McGregor stroked the ball about like a modern day Bertie Auld, but it was Tom Rogic in midfield that separated the wheat from the Gorgi chaff , never has there been such a development in a young signed raw prospect, with and without the ball?.

Craig Gordon must have read about Scott Bain at Murrayfield so he went one better, with some cool keepie uppy, on a day when he didn’t have anything else to do, but revel in the gap between his colleagues compared with his former club. Ryan Christie and Scott Sinclair stepped up again to pick up the baton, and it was fitting this time that Christie grabbed and despatched the penalty won at the end of a vintage James Forrest dribble at serious pace.

Filip Benkovic could have played in his slippers showing again why we tried to sign him before he’d heard even heard of Leicester, he was the perfect foil with Celtic’s other best centre back Dedryk Boyata who gave nothing away in Hearts infrequent breaks mainly restricted to the second half.

Great days, great company in Paradise.

    M.O.M Tom Rogic

  20. My question was going to be: Who are the good guys between ICT & Ross County? I heard an interesting programme during the week on Shortbread, I think it was coming from Dingwall. An academy. They were talking about football for young folk up there in a large and sparsley populated area. Two girls who were interviewed were asked who do you support? They said ‘Celtic & Ross County’! Got me wondering.

  21. Bournesouprecipe,

That was a great post. Super writing – no pun intended. I think you should submit it to the Sunday Mail for tomorrow.
