Really? Didn’t notice that, but what I’m saying it that I would have hoped more teams would be on 9 or 10 or 11 out of 15, but still top of the league, I shouldn’t be complaining!

    —————————

I really do think the deid huns effect on the rest of the clubs will be that someone will go on an unbeaten run, for a period, and pick up more points that they normally do.

In simple statts , if a team can avoid getting beaten by us, then they have good chance of this happening.

I cant see us winning the league by 20+ points, again in simple maths, its going to be a lot closer than that.

See if we do something in Europe, and suprised allready at how we have matured in 1 year, why wont we, then i can live with dropped points in the SPL.

God help this blog when we lose a game, as it will happen somewhere this season.

Its football, no matter what the MSM want to tell us, we will not run away with the league.

Not a booing off performance. There’s no pleasing some people. The crowd was a bit flat. Sounded like 40,000 sweetie wives, if you’ll forgive the casual 20th centaury stereotyping.

  3. Conflicting reports re Lassad, Lenny says he is still coming, hopefully he is. Got a text from a guy saying that Lassad was fined by his Club last year for wearing an anti-Rangers T Shirt under his jersey. Have no idea where he got that info or whether its correct or not.

Just watched one of the best films ever made, The Magnificent Seven.

It reminds me of our battle against injustice, dishonesty and downright robbery that we have had to endure all these years.

Like the movie, the good ghuys win, but suffer casualties on the way.

My dear departed Dad loved that movie too and he would so enjoy our victory over the forces of darkness if he had lived to see it.

So if my posts appear to be a bit emotional tonight you’ll know why.

God bless our dear departed and all things Celtic.

I don’t think there were many booing but as most were filing out in silence there wasn’t much to counter it.

Hope Hibs do well this year.

And I do however think after January we’ll win just about every league game, and probably win the league by 20 points, just my opinion, can see it being fairly close for the rest of 2012 though! (due to Europe)

  8. The Battered Bunnet on

We got two games for the price of one at Celtic Park today.

The first game, lasting 45 minutes, saw some breathtaking forward play, with James Forrest (21), Gary Hooper (24) and Tony Watt (18) running riot against an increasingly dishelvelled Hibs team.

The inter-play that led to Hooper hitting the cross bar was only bettered by the football that led up to him hitting the post, and both Wanyama (21) and Watt had terrific chances to add to Lustig’s goal, hit sweetly on the half volley direct from a corner kick.

Twardzik (19) and Wanyama in centre midfield let little get past them, allowing the eltic team to play in the Hibs half for most of the game, with Izaguirre and Matthews (20) providing supplementary attacking options.

At one point in the first half, goalkeeper Forster (24) cleared 70 yards to left back Izaguirre who was Celtic’s most advanced player.

At the end of the 45 minutes, it was a wonder that Hibs were only 1-0 down.

The second match was a much less creative affair, with Hibs running harder, closing space and making matters much more difficult in the middle of the park for Twardzik (19) Jackson Irvine (19) who had replaced the injured Wanyama (21).

Hibs scored through youthful indecision from the Celtic keeper, calling for the ball then backing off allowing Clancy to nip in between keeper and centre back Lustig. Having hit the post minutes before, Hibs were due their goal, but Celtic ought not have been quite so obliging.

Scrappy was the word for the next 15 minutes before Celtic’s Twardzik skelped a free kick fully 30 yards which was spilled by the Hibs keeper, allowing the reflexive Lustig to bundle home.

Forrest continued to show well for Celtic, but it was Hibs who scored next, Cairney bewildering the crowd in being allowed time to get a weak shot away at a tight angle 10 yards out.

The second game thereafter played out without much in the way of opportunity for either side, and the final whistle saw the Hibs players celebrate enthusiastically. For Celtic, average age 22.7 years old, the disappointment will fade as their young talents blossom.

  9. just listened to neil on the bbc, seems fairly certain that lassad will be in glasgow tonight.

yet levante claim to have signed him. interesting.

maybe a last minute change of heart once we qualified for the champions league?

  10. From Wikipedia

Lassad was signed by Deportivo de La Coruña in January 2008, arriving for free from French second division’s LB Châteauroux. After impressing with the Galicians’ B side, he received his first opportunity with the main squad, subbing in for Riki in the last minutes of a 3–0 home win over Villarreal CF on 1 February 2009.[1] The following week, he earned a penalty which resulted in a final 1–1 away draw, against RCD Mallorca.[2]

After some good overall performances, on 13 February 2009, Lassad signed a professional contract with Deportivo committing himself to the club until 2012. However he was fined by the club for wearing a shirt under his jersey displaying his hatred of the former Scottish team Rangers Fc[3] Two months later, on 5 April, he scored his first La Liga goal, in a 1–3 defeat at RCD Espanyol.[4] After a successful campaign, he was officially promoted to the first team for the 2009–10 season, but struggled with several injuries, making only 19 league appearances.[5]

In 2010–11, a healthy Lassad appeared in 33 matches scoring five goals, but Deportivo finished the campaign in 18th place, which resulted in the club being relegated to the second division for the first time in 20 years.

    [edit] Celtic

On 1st September 2012, Lassad signed for Celtic on a 3 year contract, after being released from his contract at Deportivo La Coruña. [6]

  11. ghuys – any news on Nouioui? Suspect he was the only free agent target, so if he has gone to Levante, then i think there may be no more signings. fingers crossed we get him.

  13. Didnt notice booing today. Bhoys played a decent first half, sloooooow start to second, Hibs worked hard, regeree what you might expect, and we are still top of the league. No problem.

Quote of the day from the main stand…

“C’moan Cellic, we’ve got tae sit here staunin’ watchin’ this…” Know what he meant!

  14. Not long home from the game.

My friend sat next to me was embarrassed by Hibs, in the first half as chance after chance

came back from the wood work or went a begging, as Celtic virtually ran amok yet lead by only a single goal.

Not sure of how much of a necessity it was to replace Wanyama, but it put too far to much pressure on Jackson Irvine and Philip Twardzik, in a midfeild where Hibs had three and four and the game turned from the second half whistle.

Despite that Celtic should still have won the game in a canter, and lost two silly goals for the second week in a row.

Paddy McCourt didn’t take his chance *when will he* and he spent the game facing Fraser Forster and drops his head too easily, when things aren’t going his way. A bizarre day for Mikael Lustig who was at fault for both Hibs goals yet scored at the other end, twice.

Watt is a fine prospect but was forced too wide, and his shift was lesser than Hooper’s who was just plain out of luck.

When Celtic drop points at home it’s always a scunner, but with nine regulars missing from the side today, wasn’t all bad.

    Heads up.

  15. Just back from game

    Real game of two halves

First half we were excellent in attack and Vic and young Twardiz were very solid in midfield

We missed big Vic hugely in the second half ….young Irvine had a tough first 20mins…Hibs were clearly galvanised after half time ….but he looked like a rabbit in the headlights

A game we should have won …with the number of injuries we had not a bad result …however truly awful defending for their goals and extreme profligacy in front of goal cost us

Sadly Paddy McCourt passed up another chance to impress

Youngsters by and large acquitted themselves well and I thought Wilson was solid again

Not great but far from a disaster

  16. ArranmoreBhoyLXV11 on

In from match .. Should ve had enough. First half was 5 going on 6..

Victor off changed game with midfield suddenly looking inexperienced..

Perhaps Kris for Vic would ve been smarter . But hindsights a wonderful thing..

    We lost 2 silly goals..

Still- the sun was out in section 102 and paradise was fun..

we must have been at the same game auld pal

Btw ..Brines is a A hole ….a real annoying incompetent ref … Forrest was running riot down their left …despite warning both covering players twice each …he allowed them to boot him with gay abandon

  18. Hard to synopsise today. It wasn’t the proverbial game of 2 halves. We could have scored 5 in the first half. We played some great football. Then, Victor goes off and we go to pieces. Wrap him in cotton wool for the Champions League.

How did Paddy McCourt miss thon effort? That would have finished the game, imo. It looked easier to score than miss as he did.

  19. Evening all – bit of a Champions League hangover with our makeshift team today on the bright side though….

A huge well done to all who helped with the distribution of the Weeoscar4life leaflets today! Huge thanks! And thanks to those who asked for leaflets for their buses and boats! To the two kind souls who handed money to me to put in a bucket as they won’t be here on the 22nd thank you.

Rather than be downbeat about losing a couple of points at home I am thanking the Lord that I got to be a Celtic Fan !

Off out to a party where I will be one of the only Celtic Fans there… let the good times roll!

    17:55 on 1 September, 2012…………………

I remember standing in the rain at Celtic Park & leading a good Third Lanark side 4-0 at half time.

    Final score ?

    4-4…………

    Thanks for that…………..

One of my earliest memories of watching the Tic with my Da……….Vague though……… but didn’t we draw twice 4-4 with them in the early sixties????

Also hazily recollect being at Cathkin when Jim Brogan made his debut!!!!!! (well first time I remember hearing of him anyway)…………

It sticks because Frank Brogan was a favorite of mine from going to reserve games at a very early age, and just thought God, imagine playing for the Tic along with your brother………

Probably wrong on all counts but it’s how my addled brain recalls such nowadays…….

Maybe guilty of making things fit in with the colours of my mind………

    Cheers……..

Forrest was tearing he Hibs left side a new one all game

He was relentlessly booted , sometimes without even fouls being given

Yip same game, same report, with slightly different words.

EuroChamps67 spotted the Brines incident clearer than me, and

    mentioned it after the game.

    He’s more than incompetent.

Another season ticket dip looked noticeable today, – sadly.

  24. Jaysus Having heard the stories about Lassad I really really hope he comes, he is a legend already.

  26. It was me who put up the BBC link saying Lassad had gone to Levante but i agree with the poster who said that they, the beeb, just love getting bad news about us out as soon as it leaves the horses mouth. Who do we believe NFL or some bitter wee sevco nyaff at the BBC ? I looked at Levantes site and right enough they have Lassad listed as an acquisition, my guess is they thought they had him in the bag, some minion posted it up this morning and the wee hun at the beeb got aw excited and gave us a girfuy but as ever their blinkered outlook overtakes their abilities and exposes their prejudices. I believe NFL, i just hope he’s right on this one :)

  27. The BarcaMole,

Were those 4-4 games not against St Mirren? I too vaguely remember them. I think they were Cup ties. I have a feeling too that the players of both teams were clapped off the park at the end of one of the games, if not both. I was a wee bhoy then, sitting on the ledge at the back of the Jungle, which is where I spent my very formative years watching the big team. There was much more room to move about to watch the wee tyeam.
