  1. The worst thing people can do to you is take your name. “Who steals my purse steals trash”. The MSM in Scotland tried it with NFL, a bigger man than any of them will ever be. They won’t try it with BR, because he’d have their guts for garters. We watched them go after the players, with Griff the target. A bunch of cowards, and the rise of the bampots on the internet has exposed them big-time. Of course we have our own idiots n here, although Big Mark’s name hasn’t been used for a while, but wee Hugh (a despicable rodent) still has the same adherent.

I just hope Celtic go after that fraud squad that are still running the game in Scotland.

I would also suggest the football coaches on here go to the training sessions and tell BR where he is going wrong.

I’d pay good money to see that.

In the aftermath of Paul Wilson’s sad demise i was reading an article on the Quality Street Gang, it seems in season 1970/71 our high flying youngsters were scoring for fun with that wee Milton hun bagging an astonishing sixteen goals in just six games as the reserves wrapped up a League, League Cup and Second XI Cup treble. The team he supported were defeated three times in just eight days in the League and two-legged League Cup Final 7-1, 4-1 and 6-1.

In 2 seasons he scored 43 goals while skip tae ma Lou netted 91, and the the player rated as the Big Mhans greatest disappointment Vic Davidson 92.

Sadly there are more Vic Davidson’s out there than Kenny’s. BTW as a youngster Victor Salvatore Ferla Davidson although a Sacred Heart FP went tae hades with his da while his older bro went tae Shawfield.

Gareth Southgate has gone down a lot in my estimation after his remarks about SS being ‘just below the level we already have’ in the England squad.

Very discourteous and disrespectful to the player to come out and say such a thing in the press IMO, and I doubt very much if he would have said it about ANY player in the English league set-up.

Brown had an altercation with his former boss at Fir Park, Well chairman John Boyle

Aberdeen manager Craig Brown and Motherwell owner John Boyle have both been disciplined for their touchline spat at Fir Park on 2 April.

Brown escaped a ban but was censured after being found “guilty of misconduct by behaving in a disorderly manner”.

Boyle was severely censured and fined £2500 for “behaving in an inappropriate and inflammatory manner”.

Both were also warned about their future conduct by the Scottish Football Association disciplinary committee.

And the Fir Park club immediately issued a statement on their website, saying: “Motherwell FC is surprised at this outcome and fully intend to appeal the decision at the earliest possible opportunity.”

Brown, who attended Tuesday’s hearing, had reacted angrily to comments made to him by former employer Boyle after Aberdeen’s 2-1 defeat.

Referee Steven McLean is not believed to have witnessed the incident, but police made inquiries about the situation, although no charges were brought.

I was censured, but they took into consideration the severe provocation I was put under

    Craig Brown

    Aberdeen manager

And former Scotland manager Brown was happy to accept the decision of the committee.

“I did not think it would come to anything and I was surprised to be called at all,” he told BBC Scotland.

“But I have great respect for the individuals of that committee.

“I was censured, but they took into consideration the severe provocation I was put under.”

Brown left Motherwell to take over at Pittodrie in December and, along with assistant Archie Knox, has taken legal action in a bid for compensation from his former club.

Brown insisted that he had done nothing wrong in the incident with Boyle and that it was an insignificant event that had been exaggerated.

Police officers spoke to Brown after the incident, which occurred in the mouth of the Fir Park tunnel immediately after the final whistle.

“I shook hands with the chairman and subsequently it wasn’t a very pleasant situation,” the Dons boss said at the time.

And, asked if he’d been upset by Boyle’s comments, the 70-year-old said: “Words don’t hurt me.”

The match commander, Superintendent Brian Connel, said after the game that no criminal inquiry had been launched following the “minor pushing”.

However, he added that the police were keen to get to the bottom of the incident given their involvement in other football matters.

That was a reference to the recent problems around an Old Firm fixture, with an altercation between Celtic manager Neil Lennon and Rangers assistant Ally McCoist almost exactly mirroring what took place at Fir Park.

Lennon and McCoist were both hit with touchline bans by the SFA, but McCoist’s ban was rescinded on appeal.

    http://www.heraldscotland.com/news/12361528.Brown_set_for_battle_in_bigotry_claim/

    12th July 1999

Brown set for battle in bigotry claim

THE national football coach, Craig Brown, yesterday became the latest high-profile sports personality to fall foul of the tabloid press, with damning allegations of religious bigotry which he vigorously denies.

The accusations came in the News of the World which claimed Brown had been taped singing sectarian songs down the phone. The coach, who has split from his wife, was also dubbed a ”love rat”.

Brown, a former Rangers player, last night firmly denied the allegations and said he would take legal advice.

In a statement released through his brother Jock, a lawyer and former general manager of Celtic, he said: ”I have already taken legal advice and will have a full consultation at the beginning of the week with a view to issuing legal proceedings against the News of the World for defamation.

”The main thrust of litigation is in respect of the allegations of bigotry, which I completely deny. I am not and never have been a bigot, as friends and colleagues of all persuasions will be able to confirm. Beyond that I shall make no comment, pending a meeting with my solicitors.”

The Scottish Football Association president, Jack McGinn, is in Los Angeles for a FIFA congress, but vice-president John McBeth said he was shocked by the reports. The row over alleged tape-recordings of anti-Catholic songs comes amid an SFA initiative to stamp out sectarianism in soccer.

Mr McBeth, a former chairman of Clyde when Brown was manager of the club, said it was too early to say whether the SFA would launch an investigation. ”This has come as a complete shock to me, as I am sure it has to other members of the SFA,” he said.

”I will talking about the situation to Jack McGinn as a matter of course. But I don’t think I will go chasing him in Los Angeles.

”As far as I am concerned, this is a piece of nonsense describing Craig as a bigot. I have known the man a long time and he hasn’t a bigoted bone in his body.”

Brown, who was awarded the CBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours last month for his services to football, left his home at Ayr yesterday to catch a flight to London from Glasgow.

He is part of the Sky Sports team covering the Copa America tournament. On arrival at Heathrow Airport, he said: ”I have given a statement and I don’t wish to add to that.”

The allegations were made to the Sunday newspaper by Lynda Slaven, 48, who claimed Brown sang sectarian songs down the phone, which she kept on an answerphone tape. It is believed she may have been paid #50,000 by the News of the World for the tape.

Ms Slaven, a primary school teacher from Kirkcaldy, Fife, who has two children, released the tape after the News of the World claimed she found out that Brown was seeing another woman, 54-year-old Phyllis Kirk.

It was claimed the two women found out about each other when Ms Kirk accidentally hit the redial button on Brown’s mobile phone and found Ms Slaven on the other end.

Brown’s contract does not expire until 2002 which would make him Scotland’s longest serving manager.

He succeeded Andy Roxburgh in 1993 and led the team to the finals of Euro 96 and last year’s World Cup.

The ”world exclusive” story of ”Shame of Craig Brown” has disturbing echoes of the recent furore over former Rangers vice-chairman, Donald Findlay, QC, who was exposed by a tabloid newspaper as singing sectarian songs at a Rangers social club party.
