My son’s work forbid Glasgow football colours to be worn to work. My Ryan wears his Everton bunnet at work. I am sure he will get on well with your brother this Easter in Dublin. :)

Yeah, I would tend to agree with you but nobody in Cork I would say made much money – it all went on wages. I knew the guy who ‘bought’ the league in ’74 for Celtic – Alfie Hale, Ben Hannigan (do you remember him!!), Bobby Tambling et al They went tits up immediately.

  3. DD – who copied who? Unfinished was ’91!!!!

Always wondered what happened to the guy with no legs on the skateboard!

Agree with all you said, our team is cherry picking time and getting over the wall to see out the season.

Like me, we are all veterans now ( TT I’d tan you at pool on a good day ;)) and know what will come when the flying monkeys appear… Cheating like we have not seen before, yep, the glorifiying it by the smsm, it’s a coming I tell you… So don’t come on here and scratch your head whilst posting.

I’m not anti Ronny. I like him and support him, i just don’t think he’s up to it. Keeping him next season would be a huge gamble.

I think you are wrong mate.

Kojo gave me a laugh with his tongue in cheek posts.

TSD gave me the boak when he posted.

Two different minds. Similar writing style.

  7. AOW: Cheers.

DD: My classroom has been described as a shrine to Celtic. I wear Celtic polo shirts and hoodies as often as I can. It really annoys the principal who changed club allegiances in 2012.

  8. DD: just thinking there, get him a Shamrock Rovers top when you are over. There should be no objection to that in his work:-)

How could I forget about The Chemical Brothers headlining Benicassim this year.

Think I will indulge in a bit of chemistry for that gig, for auld times sake. ;))

Being pro or anti ronny is irrelevant.

As celtic manager of he should be supported.

But I agree when you say ” I just don’t think he is up to it” that’s the bottom line really. .

Alfie hale, ben hannigan, bobby tambling, I remember them all very well.

I support shamrock rover’s, during the 70s I was at so many games up and down the country. Those were good times for league of Ireland but crowds dwindled, money was never re invested in to the infrastructure of the game

I would love to attend a Shamrock Rovers game in Tallagh. I have stayed in the Plaza across the road many times. But never a home match when I was there.

  14. In Ronny we have the new Jock Stein, out with the over weight ,over rated has been,in with the young hungry players.

We all know who they are ,thank you and goodbye.

Rovers are away to cork on Saturday the 26th March, good game pity it’s not in Dublin.

The only game in Dublin that night is St Patricks Athletic v Dundalk, could be a good game, dundalk have been champions last 2 years

If the Rovers are playing at Easter, my son and I will be there. His great grandad, my wifes grandad was a Tracey from Tallagh. Shamrock Rovers and Celtic were his teams in that order. Spent 75% of his life in Glasgow. :)

  18. dr ramesh and the love potion on

As far as Ronny as supporting the team are concerned, here’s my irrelevant slant on things.

Let’s see how the season pans out before making any hasty moves. The first six months of Ronny’s reign were very difficult. He suffered as other mangers before him with the early european qualifiers with players he didn’t know. In the end he got the team playing good football last season. This season he had to get through the same qualifiers with half his backline away and the other half wishing he was away. Not good. Then after storming into a great lead against Malmo the players retreated into their shells and we threw the game away as well as any Champions League chance. That left a big hangover which many players took into the Europa League although I thought in the games against Ajax and Fenerbahce we played some fantastic football (like we did against Inter) but we shot ourselves in the foot too many times. The first half of this season has not been the best but at this time last year we kicked on and played some great football. The key will be forming a team not only to win this league whilst entertaining the fans but preparing it for the qualifiers. By the way, most winters there are many scrappy games as the pitches fall apart.

Ronny has a few months to get the team working as a unit. I’d say now is the time to play the players who will be staying and drop those who won’t. By that I mean Johansen, Commons, Bitton, Mulgrew, Forrest and Ambrose should only be played if absolutely necessary. Johansen needs a move to a counter attacking team where he will do well. Commons and Mulgrew will do a shift in an English championship team. Forrest has become a waste of space and should be punted if possible. Bitton, whilst a good player, slows us down. Efe needs a break. Let Armstrong play with Brown in the centre backed up by McGregor. Let Rogic and Christie fight it out for the no 10 role. Give Allan a run of starts from the left and let GMS and Roberts compete for the right berth. Lets the Griff bang them in then replace him with CKR to see what he’s about. And give Bailly a run. Gordon is a great shot stopper but the rest of his game is poor. Try to get as settled a back line as is possible.

I think if Ronny were to to do that the fans would get behind him and the team even if there were a couple of wobbles on the way.

Although we have had a few stinkers this season it’s not as bad as it seems. We are also being heavily manipulated by negative press. Try animating the team and see if they respond.

In reality I don’t think the clubs ever had that much to reinvest – maybe the FAI. I’d say TV has played a big part in the smaller crowds – all the kids are watching foreign leagues – electronic technology is changing everything I suppose. I worked outside of the country during the 80’s and 90’s. I came back in the early noughties. I live in the country and I couldn’t believe the parents were organising trips to Old Trafford and Anfield for groups of the local kids – the mothers were even at it!!

But it could never compete with the attractions across the Irish Sea.

  25. HamiltonTim,

Sorry about last night dude. I think I picked you up wrong. Anyway, unfortunately Celtic is a business now. I think we have some of the shrewdest ones in our Boardroom, in an ideal World where we’re free to choose, I’d have the Celtic Trust type of people running Celtic, this World is far from ideal and we need hard nosed, in the know, barstewards to just survive, IMO ofc.

The huns/establishment team died, of course there was going to be horrible consequences because of that. We are just in the middle of it, whilst this Celtic Board has implemented a new strategy that, with patience, will produce rich rewards. Kojo talked so much uncommon sense and always championeeeeed the Celtic.

School em and train em. Come on the Celts under Ronny D. Superb pass by Liam Henderson today, not even 20. That guy has the fight of a proper Celt like Kieran has.

  26. Is this now a Celtic Trust advertising site?

IMO they are a divisive unit, self interested group of no marks, but in our society the raving lunatic party are allowed their moment.

Thanks for the reply, although you didn’t answer my question. CRC probably did. Your original post mentioned voicing your feelings to player’s not up to standard goes with the territory.

You pay your entry fee.Your choice.

My choice is to be in the company of Celtic supporters who back the team.

Valid criticism , I’ve no problem with.

The world class players from a previous life who frequent Celtic Park and hurle abuse from their seats in the stands to player’s representing Celtic do my nut in.

As I said. You pay your money.

    Your choice.HH

    Don’t be daft!

Thomson, Collum et al can only concentrate on one fix at a time.

However, if, before the tournament, the Germans suddenly withdraw Neuer, Özil, Müller and Tony Kroos with ‘mystery’ injuries, and the Spanish do similarly with De Gea, Piquet, Cazorla, Villa and Costa, you might well be onto something.

The goals I seen, seems the Hibs are playing the fitba the right way, n1 Al.

The Celts will, I think, keep loaning Hibs players if they play fitba the right way.

  33. Dr. Ramesh and the Love Potion:

Good post. Not much wrong with that. A couple of comments if I may. Neither Armstrong or McGregor can tackle, and we need someone alongside Broonie who can. Allan needs mates who can run into spaces and your team would provide that.

I agree that we played some great stuff to start with against Fenerbahce and Ajax, which I think was fueled by adrenaline. When Efe had his moment of …ahem….indecision, the air went out of us like a balloon. We need players who can cope with adversity. We will probably have a good deal of that next season with the advent of Sevco and the now blatantly overt actions of the MIB.

Finally, if we dispense with Efe, we will need someone with recovery speed to replace him, because neither Sviachenko or Simunovic appear to have it. Replacing Lustig with Janko may help.
