Forrest will probably benefit playing for a team that doesn’t play 11 men behind the ball every week
If he moves to somebody like Wigan, he’d actually be playing for a team that can counter. Very few teams play a high line at Celtic park.

He might also benefit from playing for a team who are subject to the same standards of refereeing as everyone else.
I don’t think it’s a coincidence that some of his better performances have been in Europe.

Funny game football – we could have been 2 nil down on Saturday and God knows what these pages would be saying !!
Anyway Christie Allan Roberts – I know its only 20 minutes I know we are 2 nil up I know ICT are knackered – but I did like the flair the 3 of them brought to our attacking game
I feel better about us winning the league (the only show in town)
But I still have doubts about RD ability to get us in CL Group Stages
As for James F – silly boy, greedy agent, stupid agent – when the team has 6 good attacking midfield players – your chances of demanding more money are diluted – your services James are not essential

Very true.
I’m all for positivity but I thnk some of the comments regarding Roberts, Allan and Christie are over the top.
The game was won.
A few of the tricks did not come off. Do you think the support at Celtic Park would have been so forgiving early on, with the game in the balance, or worse, if we were losing.

I can understand the opposing views about James Forrest`s worth as a player. I can also understand that some would like him to go whilst others would like him to stay. I am less able to understand why posters have not responded to this statement by James Forrest:
” ‘We are talking. I want to stay at Celtic. Everything you do every day is enjoyable and I want to stay here. A lot of the boys feel the same because it’s such a big club. ` ”
I know the statement was made in November . Has James changed his mind since then? Was his statement a negotiating tactic? Who really knows what the truth of the whole situation is?

No they would have got pelters from some fans.
However we SHOULD be encouraging this type of play. We want this to be a competitive league so we can prove we don’t need the deed ones. We want Celtic to play attractive free flowing fitba. But we cannot accept a defeat of any kind.
It’s pathetic. I like Ronny playing risk-takers as long as he can get disciplined performances in Europe. Difficult balance

The scary part is we offered James a 4 year deal , considering the size of our midfield squad I’m very surprised at that .
1 good game every 5or6 matches isn’t enough , we really need to stop holding onto certain players for so long.
I haven’t seen as many youth matches as most people on here but what I seen from young McMullan I thought was very exciting. Ready made replacement for Forrest

I enjoyed their contribution, but would guard against giving them the burden of delivering must win games.
We shouldn’t forget that the same personnel that started the 1st half improved with greater energy and secured the win in the 2nd half.

I agree. Our support is very black and white at the moment.
There are many possible reasons for the change in atmosphere at the ground and on here. Many factors can be considered but I feel that, underlying all the negativity, sits the demise of Rangers and the Establishment response to that demise. It may well be a subliminal effect but I am struggling to find any other valid reason (s) for the general apathy which sits over Celtic Park at most Home games.

If JF has decided he does not want to stay I hope there is some interest from China in that he can be sold, his performances have been of someone whos heart is not in it so best for all if he goes now.
I think if there has been interest from China he would have been sold by now, so he will be able to go for nowt.

Hope Jamsie stays – so much unfulfilled potential – but young enough to do so – however Ronny seems to have ‘plumped’ for GMS as his first-choice – disappointed.
Being a professional footballer is one of the few jobs where you can get away with producing one good days work in 5, for example and still pick up your wages.
If wee jamesie worked for Marks and Spencers or your local corner shop he would have been punted ages ago.
I wish I got his money for doing next to nothing.

In my opinion he should have been signed or punted a year ago. Basic contract management. Fail by CEO.

Worth 2 years ago probably £1m plus.
He’s the type a team down south would take a punt on.
Personally I doubt he’s destined for any long term success. I think he must physical or mental health issues as he’s incredibly injury prone.
Not surprised to have it confirmed that James Forrest has been stalling on a new contract after months of rumour. I think an impasse was evident in recent weeks when the player was fit, but has been sat on the bench with GMS promoted to the first team again.
A hugely frustrating Celtic starlet that over the seasons, who made Shaun Maloney look like Steve Austin, now he is finally injury free ( at 25 ) his temperament not to mention distribution is still deeply flawed. To rub salt into the wounds, Celtic aren’t paying him enough?
Hope he gets a new club in summer as we’ve clearly wasted enough time and money trying to develop him so that he could fulfil his early promise, and with a Bosman opportunity beckoning in typical James Forrest style Celtic get no end product, that we patiently awaited.
He’s fast, but won’t be last prospect through the revolving door.
James Forrest is arguably one of the most skilful players in the Scottish football and his class also shines on the European stage. Class is permanent and I hope James stays at Celtic Park.
I would suggest that the reaction to the POSSIBILITY that JF wishes to try his luck elsewhere is somewhat aggressive or , dare I say, childish?

The only sympathy I can muster for him is I think he may not be alone in being disenchanted at the prospect of competing in a 20 man midfield pool. Reality is with those numbers there’s a big element of lottery….
That said I think adios is the best outcome all round. He won’t be missed as we go months at a time without his input as it is…
Then again I suppose the predictable blame falls on PL, they just never let me down, unfortunately.

James Forrest Celtic career has been one of unfulfilled potential. Ultimately injuries wrecked any chance he had of being what we hoped he would be. Probably best for his career that he moves on, we’d be a good signing for a Championship side down south where he can play in a counter attacking team that can exploit his pace.
At the risk of being called a ‘brain dead moron’, to go with all of the other insults that expressing a view on here brings, I would question why JF’s contract has been allowed to run down and he walks for nothing in the summer. Should the question of his contract not been addressed in last summer when we would have got a fee for him?
Might i point out the obvious.

I guess what irks me about folk like Forrest – is they profess to hold the same affection for the club as the fans do.Reality is they happily stiff the club for £m’s and then walk away with a trace of shame (or perhaps awareness). Thats my problem with James ( and Lawwell). I don’t know any fan who would exploit the club for their own financial gain without a trace of conscience. Obviously players want the best deal but as long as they give their best in return I’ve no problem.
