Wont be a massive loss in the big picture Bobby.

Young boy from Manchester City maybe swung it for Forrest and his agent?

The Continuity Myth has been debunked in the courts in the past few weeks by people more able to judge than Doncaster. Yet it is his ‘opinion’ that is used by the hack here to try to lend weight to the nonsense, with no mention of there being no legal leg to stand on for the likes of Doncaster, who, like Spiers, needs reminding that Scoddish Football is not above the Law.

Well done Gary Harkins for defying McNewspeak.

Let’s hope your club, other member clubs, your fellow pros, and your union don’t leave you hanging out to dry, as the inevitable backlash starts, for simply telling the truth.

His union is probably trying to blackball him already!

  4. BOBBY MURDOCH’S CURLED-UP WINKLEPICKERS,

    Yep.

Although I’ve a horror story to tell you about Tynecastle on 27 December!!!

‘Betbhoy’ would require a prefix ‘losing’, just as Waghorn has the suffix ‘pen’.

Preparing for the soon-to-come carnage of the Festival with trepidation already!

  6. I wonder what question Paul Hartley, and any of his players who are interviewed by the SMSM leading up to the Dumbarton game, will be asked first?

It would be so great if they back Gary Harkins in any such scenario.

  7. I can’t believe Celtic offered Forrest a 4 year contract! I can’t believe Forrest rejected a 4 year contract!

I think he may be about to flush his career down the English Championship lavvy.

Then again, you could argue that some Celts that failed to make the grade cut out decent, steady careers in the English lower leagues:

    Ross Wallace

    Scott Cuthbert

    Paul Caddis

    etc

But there is also a much longer list of those that never went on to have a steady career.

It is a shame for a player who once promised so much.

  8. Well looks like wee Jamsie is offski offered a 4 year deal & knocks it back

Probably best for all concerned as I don’t think with injuries plus being benched

and inconsistent performances helped either.Plus he played as if his heart wasn’t really in it

Thanks James & wish you all the best sorry you couldn’t really fullfil your potential

Is anyone surprised we loose a player and no transfer deal, I’m not. He should have been sold last season but too many still babbling about potential of a 24 year old boy ffs, and the contribution he could make if only he could stay fit.

no doubt its time for stats about average 30 games a season, for seasons that we played well over 60 games.

Think we should offer him his treatment table he must have ingrained his shape on it by now.

Me, I’m glad to see the back of the spineless wee parasite.

  12. Starry Plough

Some very uncomfortable reminders in those comments following the article of what some present propagators of the Big Lie in the SMSM were saying back in 2012/13, especially Mr Level 5 himself.

  13. lennon's passion on

Forrest on his day is a good player, sadly his day is very rare. He leaves the defender very open when he fails to track back. Goes down to easy for me always looking for fouls(la liga style).

How long has he left on his contract ? Maybe a few pounds can be made of him.

  14. Had high hopes for James Forrest & would have liked to have seen him given a proper run as a CF. Injury prone but still young enough to forge a successful career. When fit & in full flow I’m a big fan but the writing has been on the wall for quite some time. If the wee man can stay fit then someone will be getting a very decent player.

Hope he changes his mind & signs but if not then good luck to the lad. HH!

Given that we know the club will jump at any reasonable interest in one of our players, I’d suggest that there’s never been reasonable interest in James Forrest. Whether that’s down to his injury list or the lack of consistency when it comes down to end product I don’t know.

I’m not his biggest fan, and I feel he’s one of the ‘old guard’ that might need moved out the way for the new breed to get a shot.

‘Obviously I’m still at Celtic and it’s a great club, a big club,’ said Forrest. ‘We are in Europe and it’s a great place to be.

‘We are talking. I want to stay at Celtic. Everything you do every day is enjoyable and I want to stay here. A lot of the boys feel the same because it’s such a big club.

‘I think I have a year and two months left and I am pretty confident it can be sorted. As I say, it’s a big club and you don’t get much better than the European nights here.

or should have sold him during the last window to get any money at all but “our Jamsie” seems to have messed everyone about so he can sign a deal during the summer, big bumper signing on fee, no need to share with the club that made him.

    Cheers,bud!

On the subject of Cheltenham,I mentioned that very thing in an e-mail I sent on RebelYell.com to as many CQNers as I could.

The Kano Foundation Dance is on 9 April at The Hilton-7pm,£40 a ticket-and pointed out that, after a run of The Festival,Dublin,The Grand National,I was unlikely to make it.

So if you have any info…

The mail also included info for a quiz night in aid of AN GORTA MOR memorial. It is at The Squirrel on Stevenston St,Gallowgate.

11 March,7pm. £5 a ticket wi live music to follow.

Two excellent nights, and I decide to live in bliddy Swindon. I despair sometimes…

Mind, the £2 Guinness goes a way to alleviating the homesickness!

    weeminger,

that could be why he wants to sneak out the door under his agents coat, probably easier to get a new team if there is no transfer money, just a signing on fee, then again how much for development fee ?

can we claim the medical bills back that should be a tidy sum, might even be up there with Victor/Forster/VanDijk transfer fee’s :)

  19. When Forrest is not in the team,he isn’t missed IMO,says it all for me. Wigan Athletic beckons.

  20. Joe Filippis Haircut on

Morning Bhoys on the James Forrest situation you can only sell a player if another club wants to buy him and we have to assume we had no offers for him in the summer.I wont be sad to see him go as for me he has no heart or if you like he is a wee fearty.I hope he leaves and wish him well where ever he goes. H.H.

    CANAMALAR

Quite right, mate. Just because we put too much expectation on young shoulders and overplay him while he’s still developing physically,he can expect no sympathy.

And medical bills? He should have been ‘sent tae the doaktirs fur a line’ like all the other chancers and lead-swingers. And left to take his chances in the queue.

Canman, the guy probably realises it’s not working for him at Celtic. He needs a new challenge/opportunity more than we need him.

I wouldn’t play him if he doesn’t sign a contract. But I won’t crucify him for it either.

  22. The group of guys I go to games with were pretty much split on James Forrest but based upon recent performances and his reaction to the contract offer I’m afraid we are in 100% agreement, goodbye James.

    Re Forrest

Good riddance – I think he has treated the club poorly – given the support he has received over the years. Good luck to him in life with that attitude.

Poor management of JF by the club though.

2 things you do with a player like him

    1. Motivate him to consistent performance

    2. Punt him for money

you shouldn’t let him walk out the door for free. Surprised Lawwell didn’t have his son on this to boost the family coffers.

To my eye he is a player who on his day can give you something special. Unfortunately that is maximum 4 or 5 games per season. An absolute waste of a wage and and a jersey the rest of the season. I’ve alwyas believed the difference between gifted amateurs and solid professionals is consistency. Forrest is more of a gifted amateur in my eyes. My guess is he will have an amazing early impact at his next club – probably championship down south – and then fade in to millionaire oblivion.

    Qurestion to James Forrest..

How much do you value your soul and your principles?

  26. Well our super duper CEO now has a chance to get big bucks from China, how about it Peter.

Read on KDS that our CEO shamed wee Forrest in front of the fans at some meeting being held at CP.

    BMCUW,

I don’t think I put much expectation on his coathanger shoulders, generally had him down as a malingering wee shitebag.

He did turn in a few good games which I praised him highly for probably too highly, usually if he done half decent I would give him MotM by way of encouragement but such games were usually followed by 4 or 5 abject failures to compete.

Sorry pal, I can see you liked him but compare and contrast with young KT and there is no comparison to be a Celtic player takes guts and heart, I never ever though Forrest had that fundamental ingredient.

Serious question for you,no spin, side, dig intended.

How much do you think anyone would offer us for JF if he still had two years, say,on his deal?

I think he knows his time is up at the club. Two years ago he would probably have signed an extension but presumably the club weren’t convinced of his worth or fitness.

We’ve lost far better. I wish things had turned out differently-I reckon he does too-but heyho.

    1. Would anybody pay good money for a player as poor as James Forrest?

    2. He still might sign on at Celtic.

When Forrest first emerged he was a player we wanted to keep. He was inconsistent but appeared to have potential. He hasn’t lived up to it and is only being offered a contract that reflects his standing as a squad player.

    You’re a hard bassa,have a heart ffs!

Really,we both essentially agree in our opinions on his time at Celtic, and his future. With the caveat that I put it down to fitness and burn out,and you, erm, don’t!

He’s a good player. Many a good player hasn’t cut it for various reasons. His is just another one.

  31. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

    BMCUW,

yer forgetting he now has a meeja pack paying money for embarrassing story’s to encourage and provide an excuse for wanting away.

There’s loads of excuses to go and none to stay and play for the jersey, it never fitted him.

  32. I would say ,that Forrest has been making his intentions to leave the club very obvious . IMHO , even when brought on as a sub , he hasn’t shown any interest . If all the praise heaped on the young lad on loan at Partick is justified , then maybe james see,s a threat to his place in the team .

  33. Canamalar it looks like OCD obsession on

    JimTim,

exactly, not a competitive bone in his body, first sign of competition and he’s of, whether that’s during a game or fighting for a place. The shirt doesn’t shrink though we have been buying XXS shirts for too long now.

The challenge is still there, does he want to make the shirt his or does he want to run away ?
